Yes, I give them 4stars cause every time I eat here I leave happy and fore-filled. I ever had a ordering issue or bad service, maybe I’m one of the lucky ones but it’s been great and I continue to keep eating here. The catch also is I order the same thing every time too. Steak Fajita tacos 10⁄10. Service 8⁄10.

Worst service ever, tried to order food they didn’t have anything at all. I asked if I could have a chicken break and tortillas they said«no we don’t do that here». I asked what I could order and they said bean and cheese tacos. Not apologetic about it at all. It feels like they really just didn’t want to make anything took out of their way.

Seriously the worst service ever y’all. When my father-in-law tried to order beef fajita they told him it would be 15 minutes, to which he responded that he’d wait. The cashier said YOU’RE gonna wait FIFTEENMINUTES? To which he responded I guess not and left. That was just one instance in our 20 minute encounter. Overall awful experience. Even for fast food… just bad.

I was in town visiting and due to long waits at other establishments where breakfast tacos could be procured on Easter Sunday, we went to this Taco Cabana location. I usually love Taco Cabana and was excited because I was told this was the original location. But from start to finish, this was a disaster. They were extremely slow to get to our order, then we specifically ordered 2 #23s(which are simply just 2 brisket and egg tacos, no other choices to be made) and the cashier asked us what kind of tacos we wanted(umm?). Then the coffee was awful. It took almost 25 minutes to being our food out, and the girl working brought our order to the table next to us and did nothing despite the people telling them it didn’t look right. They proceeded to open and touch our food until one person sitting there brought it back angrily. We could see that they did not re-make them or even attempt to re-wrap them very well after other people touched it, but we were in a hurry and didn’t feel like putting up a stink. When we finally got to eat the food, it was far lower of a quality of taco I have had from other Taco Cabanas in other locations. The brisket was burnt and dry and the eggs tasted so strongly like oil I removed them from the taco. The onions I took from the bar were dried out, too. Though I usually love Taco Cabana, this experience will probably keep me away for awhile.

Kind of a cheap taco place, but it’s def a step above taco bell, i got the sampler box, which for only $ 7 you get an enchilada, taco, beans rice and 2 tortillas, it’s a good deal and tastes fine, especially if youre drunk

I love that i live right around the corner from a TCs. service is quick and the place is pretty clean looking. nothing special. The wife and I do enjoy the happy hour margaritas often and its 24 hours which is convenient. Not a bad last resort.

Food is alright, but recently the company repainted this Taco Cabana to it’s «original» color which is a horrible brown color that makes it look dirty. Original or not, it’s a bad move!

Perfectly adequate mid afternoon taco snack — brisket tacos on corn tortillas. Get them«loaded» if you like cheese, tomatoes, etc, and don’t neglect the salsa verde on the salsa bar. You don’t go to TC for elegant!

*Long* version: The lady-friend and I were fresh off shift, after hours of improve acting, and we were in no mood to shop around for vegetarian food, being from out of the city. Spoiled by Austin’s abundant offers of good grub on the cheap, by local vendors no less, I was not expecting much from a chain. To my surprise, there were 3 dinner plate options for us to choose from at T.C., including a pescatarian shrimp plate. We ordered two, w/an online coupon allowing us to get the second for a buck! Not only was everything just-made, they had ranch salsa! What genius thought of that combo? When I realized that I received flour tortillas by default as the extras that came w/the plate, I asked if I could trade for corn to keep gluten-free. Register said no problem, and a proud bus boy offered to take them to the table, encouraging me to sit down again(I suspect he was the manger on-sight.) The most touching part of this experience was when a gentleman in line tapped me on the shoulder to notify me of a feather on my date’s back. Who does that?! I realize this a deep cultured courtesy, based on respect of one’s apparent mate. But I hadn’t thought to what extent those boundaries go. I’m not the possessive type, and personally would have removed the feather myself, had I been on his position. Still, knowing her comfort level, and us being in an unfamiliar town, I couldn’t help but feel and express gratitude toward this man. San Antonio, you are pleasant indeed. Why the bad wrap? Working the River Walk was a blast. And partaking in the local flavor was yummy, cheap, and insightful, even at a chain restaurant.

I very seldom write bad reviews but. when it’s appropriate. This place is horrible! I’ve been here a few times and it’s always a bad experience. Beware cyclist they will not serve you! The security guard even suggested I go around to the window and the lady informed me if you’re not in a car they will not serve you. Fail for the responsible cyclists in the neighborhood who wants some late night tacos. I came through here on my scooter once and they did the same thing. I guess they are too good here and can select whom they want to serve. In my humble opinion a total fail for the future of transportation accommodations. I once went through a bank drive through years ago on my skateboard and they wouldn’t even give me the time of day. I walked in, withdrew over $ 10K as a very young adult… then went to another bank where I asked if I show up on my skateboard will you help me and they said of course we will, still banking with that awesome bank today!(sometimes on my bike or skateboard) It’s all about customer service. =)

Original location, crap service. You cannot sub chicken for steak apparently on the street tacos. One star just for the fact it’s the original.

I remember when TC used to be affordable. While its still not very expensive its not a cheap eat place like I remember it. I’m still a fan of their fajita’s but sometimes its a hit or miss with the temperature of the meat. The breakfast tacos are the same and sometimes they give you a lot of eggs and meat and other times I’m wondering where the other half of it went. You can’t argue with the convenience and the speed of service here.

Three stars for being the first Taco Cabana in Texas, open mostly 24⁄7 sans holidays, serving affordable fast Tex Mex food, having a very limited veggie selection, having seedy service and some of the most haggard bathrooms in restaurant history. Keep in mind the nachos are good if you’re dining on the patio but scientific experiments have proved sticking fried/hot food inside Styrofoam to go containers will make your food soggy. Don’t forget to check your bag and test your unsweet tea before you leave the location. They have been known to jip you.

I’m not really a fast food kind of girl but I’m in the midst of a move and had no groceries in my apartment so I went to Taco Cabana for a quick dinner for me and the person helping. I drove through the drive-thru(in a truck full of all my things) and placed my order. The girl working made me repeat myself five different times, then a second person came on to take my order to whom I had to repeat it twice. It was a simple order: chicken fajita nachos and an order of chicken tacos. I drove around and paid and took my order home. When I arrived at my house we got out and sat on the floor to enjoy our fancy take-home fare. As we opened the bag, I realized that two of the items we ordered and paid for were missing. I called the location and explained the situation to the manager. His response to me was something along the lines of «Wow, you’ve really thrown me for a loop here, I don’t know what to tell you.» I said, «Well, you can tell me how to get the money back for the food I bought but didn’t receive since I can not return this evening because I’m in the middle of moving.» He then informed me that Taco Cabana has no way of refunding money. A.) I find that very hard to believe. B.) If it is, in fact true, I’m not sure if it’s worse customer service to be flat out rude or to have no way to reimburse your customers when you make a mistake. So, I called Taco Cabana headquarters and left a message. I also sent a tweet to their corporate account and now I’m leaving this review here. Frankly, I don’t care as much about the $ 12 I paid for food I didn’t get as I do about how just flat out rude the manager of the store was, coupled with the sharp, short attitude of the girl working in the drive through. If I hear from their HQ I will update this review with whatever solution was given to me and let you know for sure if they do, in fact, have a way to reimburse customers for their mistakes. Because if they truly don’t, I’d be very wary of ever letting them run a credit/debit card as you just don’t know what is going to happen with your money.

Today everything was delicious. Chicken Quesadilla was right on, the cheese enchiladas were nice and hot and the rice and beans were perfect. I love, love, love there hot sauce. However, they were skimpy on the guacamole today, but it didn’t change my experience. I will definitely go back before i leave town again! Wish we had a taco cabana in TN,

So I feel slightly foolish reviewing a fast food place. But I do like this Taco Cabana — it’s the ORIGINAL original, too! Great happy hour! We meet here with friends every Thursday for their happy hour margaritas($ 1.50 margs and ½-priced nachos, and they have them throughout the week!) Actually really good little frozen margaritas. Every time I have a bad one at some overpriced Riverwalk restaurant, I wonder why I am not at TC. Love the chicken tacos too, though I’m not such a big fan of the nachos. I’d give it 4 stars but the only problem is the management can be really unpredictably weird. Me and my boyfriend just moved to TX and don’t have licenses yet since it an excruciatingly bureaucratic process, and the guy gives me crap about my MA license every time and requires a second ID and then tells me he’s still not supposed to be serving me but I’m really lucky since he’s making an exception for me. Since when is it illegal for a person from out of state to order a freakin’ drink in Texas? Does he need my social security card or something? Also, last time they mysteriously decided to cut us off after 2(very small) drinks apiece, without giving any reason. We were definitely not being loud or drunk, and had ordered some food, so I don’t know what the deal was. One of us told the cashier they would lose a lot of business if they continued to treat customers like that, and then later on they gave us free nachos. So I guess that proves we made some kind of a valid point. But we keep going, and the margaritas keep being delicious, so I still recommend this place!

This is the better of the fast food Mexican food chains. In my opinion. The flavors are less generic. They have fresher ingredients. Best of all they have cilantro. Gotta love a place with cilantro!

Everything is bigger in Texas, except that they eat breakfast tacos instead of breakfast burritos. I think maybe Texans just eat more of them to fill up. Anyway, breakfast tacos are where it’s at here, I hadn’t heard rave reviews about anything else. They run you about $ 1.25 each, so for $ 3.75 it’s a pretty filling breakfast. I tried one of each of the following: Bean and Cheese – yum! Potato, Egg and Cheese – kind of bland Chorizo, egg and cheese-yum! Tortillas are homemade and taste like chewy, pita bread – only more fattening. Taco Cabana seems to be the Texas version of Del Taco: you crave it after a night of binge drinking, and probably not really anytime else. They could use some better hot sauce though, their’s was kind of like runny ketchup withy a hint of pepper… For less than $ 5, all in all not a bad way to start your morning.
