I’ve been here many times and have yet to write a review. I’m here to fix that. Today, I took my food to go, just having had my hair cut right next door at Tee’s. So convenient. Actually within this block or do, you have Mama’s, Tee’s, Big Bob’s burgers, Taco Cabana, Jim’s and Jack-in-the-Box. While some of them are so-so, you can’t say you don’t have a choice. But I digress… I ordered carne guisada and bacon and egg tacos. I have not had the guisada before. Simply awesome. I have stated before about my dislike for red chili powder gravy. None of that here! Just a tasty well-seasoned gravy covering chunks of meat and wrapped in a soft, delicious flour tortilla. The bacon and egg was the standard version: egg and a strip of bacon. So much better when the bacon is chopped and mixed with the egg(go to El Milagrito). Mama’s red sauce is good and hot. Yum. Go there.

You simply won’t find a better hole in the wall taco shop… anywhere. Go there between 6am-9am so that you can capitalize on the $.99 tacos. They are absolutely the best. Dine in if possible. The english language is not their main forte, but they are more than nice when helping you decide what to order. I have been t restaurants that spend tons on their aesthetics and interior design. Skip that, and go to Mama’s. Right now. Suggestion: any of the Taco’s with their amazing eggs. And yes, only tacos.

Findly I found it! A Mexican restaurant that fulfills my standards I’ve been looking for. The food is all made from scratch and the tortillas are hand made. I’ve had four tacos and all three of them are amazing. Food 10⁄10.

i love this place. quality traditional authentic mexican breakfast. you will not be disappointed. i recommend even for a coffee in the morning. it being an old house converted into a cozy restaurant and the original hard wood floors that you would find in any of the homes on this side of town, really do make you feel like your in grandmas or mamas kitchen.

May not look like much from the outside, but remember the saying«don’t judge a book by its cover» well this is a perfect example. Saw a fellow Unilocaler’s review and I had to check it out to see if it was true. The address was incorrect, so I couldn’t check in. No worries, since then, that problem has been corrected. My first visit, I ordered a couple of breakfast tacos. I wasn’t impressed. But my partner in crime ordered the Menudo and it was really good. So good, that I wanted to return again to see if the Menudo was as good as the first time. Well it was! It wasn’t greasy. Also they can serve it with extra hominy and pigs feet. I know this might not sound good, but don’t knock it until you try it. Don’t like Menudo, try one of their breakfast plates. Also they give college students a discount. Parking can be limited, but there is some parking in the back of the restaurant.

Best kept secret for Mexican food in San Antonio. Very reasonable prices. Central Mexico style. I almost hate to share this place with the public.
