My friend and I came here for an early breakfast she got the breakfast tacos and I got a breakfast burrito, the shell on my breakfast burrito was way overcooked and it was like a cracker my burrito wasn’t the greatest. However my friend did share her breakfast tacos with me and those were amazing so if you’re going to go there for breakfast I suggest breakfast tacos

The lines here can drag in the mornings and the people that work the window aren’t all that personable. They didn’t even really bother to ask me if I wanted any condiments with my order — just shoved the bag at me and told me have a great day.

This place was SICK!!! I did not even take a picture of my food. So I decided to try this place out because they can with the new lighter healthy menu. Got to check out the girl kept messing up my order had to show her the picture she finally got it… she did not. They take it back and the people preparing it messed it up because they did not know what it was so I showed them the picture the second time. The manager finally comes out to try to apologize… why he’s apologizing he’s trying to correct me on what’s on his menu, the funny thing is he has no idea what I’m trying to order, and he still is trying to tell me how to order this item sounds confusing… yes he was not me!!! I’m looking at this guy… and thinking to myself he has no idea what’s on his menu… Let’s just say I will never go back again !!!

DISAPPOINTINGFALLFROMGRACE. After having grown up in San Antone and eaten Taco Cabana for many years, it is with great disappointment to return and find the restaurant a shadow of its former self. What the heck happened with this place??? First of all, they remodeled the interior so its a new-wave Latin décor, fancy but does nothing to improve the food. Second, why the heck do they have servers bring your food now. They used to call out tickets for 20 years you would pick up your food. Finally, the menu has changed for the worse. They lost several items that were good and the scaled down menu is lacking. The salsa bar was about the only thing that was good. There’s no reason to eat here for fast cheap Mexican food with about a billion other options. Las Palapas is 10 times better than this place. Or go big and head to La Gloria, El Mirador, Rosarios, etc.

we came here tonight around 12 for breakfast tacos. they weren’t able to make them at the time because the person in charge of cleaning the grill hadn’t come in– no big deal, we were just gonna leave. as we walk out, the cashier who helped us told us to have a nice night while a tall blonde kid said in a pretty annoying and rude voice«they didn’t even order anything» obviously mocking us. why the attitude? it’s not our fault you weren’t ready, and we weren’t even rude about it.

Great place to grab some lunch. Their food is always delicious and hot. I’m not sure when they made those upgrades to the fixtures and the interior itself, but it looks great and more modernized in there. They’ve always got great money-saving coupons so be sure to check your mail on the regular! My favorite item by far has to be their personal fajita skillet. The fajitas(chicken or beef) come sizzling hot on a little griddle alongside some amazing comforting sides like rice, beans, guac, and sour cream. I personally prefer their plates to their combos because the combo is basically just a side of chips and guac. The beans and rice go a longer way. Pair up your meal with their salsa bar and you’ve got yourself a winner! I don’t personally care for their pineapple salsa, it’s too watery. Service at the counter varies between«wow» and«OK for you not having any personality whatsoever.» And who can forget about TC’s amazing happy hour margaritas for only $ 1.50!!! Yep, I’m a fan.

Being from the mid west we did not have the presence of taco cabana. But once I moved down south I have been eating it over Taco Bell consistently. The food isn’t sit down quality but is very good. I love happy hour $ 1.50 margaritas!

Me no like. I’ve heard people love on this place with the fervor of an In-and-Out or a Whataburger cult type fandom. It so does not deserve to fall in that category. Over priced for the skimpy, dry, cheap food it sells. You want a good condiment bar go to Chacho’s. No one should have to pay extra to put cheese on a breakfast taco, sorry. I drive down this street all the time and if I want breakfast tacos, I go to the Bill Miller right by it. If I want Mexican drive through, sadly this is true, I go to Taco Bell, not Taco Cabana. If I want better drive through Mexican I will still not darken the drive through window of this establishment with my business, I will drive out of my way to drive through Chachos or Las Palapas. I’m a hater sorry folks.

I love the remodel, it makes this place look pretty sharp! Sitting outside on their patio on a cloudy day is such a relaxing escape from being stuck in an office all day. The interior as well as exterior of the restaurant were clean and inviting. Their salsa bar has improved in terms of variety, however I’m not so sure about flavor though. The pineapple chipotle salsa tasted pretty bad and acidic, and their red salsa tasted like tomato water. You can never go wrong with their salsa verde! Taco Cabana’s food is far from authentic Mexican food and most definitely not the best Tex-Mex I have ever tried, but for a chain their food is always pretty consistent, but then again it’s always a bit on the bland side, too. Good thing for coupons! And salt and pepper! The young lady who took our order was nice, as was the woman who brought our food out to us. Their prices are pretty reasonable. I had forgotten how yummy and fluffy their tortillas are. And of course, during happy hour TC’s is a great place for a couple of half-price limey margaritas and cheesy nachos!

They remodeled this location and it looks great. They have expanded their menu and their breakfast taco box(dozen) is a bargain at a dollar a taco. Happy hour is a great idea.

Very impressed with their 1lb. Chicken Fajita Meal. Very nice — Chicken cooked with onions, beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, and tortillas. Excellent price. Overall — Recommend.

Yes, I’ve had much better. Today I was served on a very wet tray and the breakfast tacos had cold chorizo and barbacoa. How hard is it to nuke it for a few seconds more? I used to love Taco Cabana when there was only the one at Hildebrand and San Pedro. Late nights, with those delicious tortillas and tacos al carbon! Sadly, it has changed in the worst way. I thought I would give them another try after many lackluster visits in the past. No mas!

Unless you live under a rock like GEICO thinks its customers do, then you have never been to Taco Cabana. If you have lived in San Antonio for any amount of time, then you know the deal. This is the place that started the Tex-Mex drive through phenomena. The tacos are not going to win any awards and you aren’t going to experience any taste bud Utopia with their menu items. But will give it this. The place is consistent and there is always one nearby when you need to get your taco on, but everything else is closed. Their Carne Guisada is always better with cheese. Their barbacoa will do in a pinch and I can always count on the Beef Fajita nachos to satisfy my appetite. My kid loves the bean and cheese nachos and the bean and cheese taco, but what kid doesn’t dig those? I gave TC’s 4 stars. 3 for their taste and convenience. The extra star is for always being dependable.

Yeah, well, it’s a kicked up OTHER taco place but, you know what, the food’s okay! I tried the barbacoa taco for the first time. VERY good! It wasn’t greasy or «weird» like you would find in a traditional barbacoa. It was just shredded meat with ample seasonings. But, for $ 1.99, what it also wasn’t was enough for the money. That was one small taco! An average guy would need about THREE of ‘em to get filled and, for six bucks, you could get a better dinner elsewhere. The restaurant itself is nice, clean, great«salsa bar.» I would go back — or hit the one locally, in my area.

The food is always great and you can find some menu items very well priced(particularly the Cabana Bowls). This particular location is in a very busy area and the drive through can seem to test your patience sometimes, but that’s what happens when everybody wants to enjoy the good Tex-Mex style food that this place has to offer. Inside, the seating is never over-crowded, however, it can easily get loud due to the open floor plan and tile flooring. There are a few tables with tents to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine if you wish. This a great place to drop by day or night if you are craving that Taco Cabana taste. I give it a 4 out of 5 for fast food!
