Despite us being late for our reservation, we sat down and ordered right away. The staff were very kind and the meal was delicious. We ordered the hibachi chicken and it was quite the show.

We had a great experience and Tommy put on a wonderful show. He was very enthusiastic and personable. The chicken fried rice was amazing and we will definitely be back. He brought a whole new and fresh take to the hibachi experience. There were no kids at our table, yet we were all entertained as if we were children! Tommy’s Godzilla onion tower was my favorite!

I had been here before for happy hour and the food was decent. This last time was bad and i wont return. Came in for happy hour on a sunday ordered fried rice, gyoza and jalpeno poppers. The first issue was our food took an absurd amount of time an hour and 10 min to be exact for appetizers! We were the only ones at the bar and when we arrived there was only one group at the hibachi grill, so they were not busy! The server/bartender was friendly and she apologized for the wait. The food finally came. out and again it was just okay but the ginger sauce was water down so much. Six hours later im dealing with the worst food posining ive ever had in my life. So i will not be back. This place is a classic case of over charging and using the worst possible quality of food to make a profit. Their happy prices are great compared to their menu prices but ask yourself is your health worth the risk?

AWESOME! It is the most expensive Hibachi restaurant I’ve been too. And I feel the portions were smaller than I’m used too. Now that’s the bad stuff. The food was delicious, the service was phenomenal and yes it’s an older building but VERY clean. The negative comments from the people who say it was disgusting or nasty well they’re idiots. This place is great. It’s the only one I’ve been to in SA so I don’t know if their pricing is average for the area but you pay for what you get. Fun and great place.

The nastiest most unclean place I have ever had the displeasure of visiting! This place is not gotten closed down by the health department is unbelievable! Just walking in the building there is filth everywhere it looks like it has not been updated in 30 years or cleaned and Service sucks!!! the food is way overpriced! Goodbye Felicia!

Not bad! Great drinks but no lunch special and didn’t come with noodles! At those prices all should be included not additional ! Food was just ok. Sushi was good too

I was visiting my best friend in San Antonio we were craving a Benihana type of restaurant. Per the other reviews it was a lot like Benihana so we decided to check it out I really wish we hadn’t. The food was mediocre at best I believe it was a little pricier than Benihana and their yum yum sauce is a man is ginger and garlic sauce it was not very good at all

I went there on Valentine’s Day 2016, the wait was long we were a group of 4 and we just wanted sushi I wish they just had regular tables so we didn’t have to wait for someone to come cook at this grill. And when we were seated it took forever for our server to get to us not to mention the cook as well. Sushi wasn’t all that, they don’t have much to choose from. I consider this place average.

We have been coming here for the last 9 years(not often as the cost is preventative to frequent visits). In the beginning everything was great. But in the last year and our last three visits, the wait staff have been very lacking! The last visit was tonight, it took over 30 minutes for our sushi to get to the table, in fact, it came to the table AFTER the cook had given us our fried rice! So much for the sushi being an appetizer. Then my drink goes empty three times, and I end up waiting quite a while for refills. One of those times the waitress said she would get it, and 20 min later I still had no drink! I had to ask another staff member for a drink! After I finally get my drink, our waitress comes over and apologizes to me stating she«forgot» about my drink… Not something a customer should hear! To make it even better, for my third refill, the waitress takes my drink, then some other guy comes up to me and says they just ran out of raspberry(I had a raspberry lemonade) and asked if strawberry would be ok. I will say the raspberry lemonade is way better than strawberry! Oh, the food was good, but the chef lacked«animation» and barely spoke. Given that our last three visits have ALL seen bad service, we have decided to start going to Kobe Hibachi Grill instead, at least there the service staff are awake and know how to do customer service! We will not be returning.

Food was what you would expect from hibachi, very average. Floor had that same very odd, slippery feeling like all Hibachi places, I’ll just tell myself it’s clean. Staff was very attentive. Chef took the time to cater to the short attention span of our young son. Sake selection was limited but the bottle was reasonably priced. Food prices were consistent with my other hibachi experiences, high for the food quality but you’re paying for the experience. We would return if we’re in the mood for hibachi but probably only with a group or our son.

Went in a couple times and the food was ok, the service was terrible and the last time I went in which was today… I sat down for literally 1 full hour and left, the chef never came out. Osaka has better food and service. Need to hire more chefs. Won’t come back. Osaka is the only place I’m going for hibachi night in San Antonio.

Giving one star and that is being generous. Have been there 3 out of 4 times for a special occasion and have been disappointed in the service. The food is ok. For the price we paid I expected more of a show like one of the other tables had and the service to be better. Three times my husband ran out of tea. I was being generous when I left a $ 7.00 tip on a $ 95.00 bill. Needless to say we won’t be going back a 5th time. Better off going to Chuckie Cheese you will probably have more fun then at this place.

We had our corporate dinner here approx 100 of us. Surprisingly good service despite recent reviews. Our hibachi chef definitely made the experience exciting. He lit everything on fire! I mean literally with a 5 foot flame. This is gonna be a great night. As the soup, salad and tuna sashimi arrived, it kinda bombed. Soup was bland, salad had a weird dressing and the tuna was still frozen. Hmmm… not good. I ordered the Shamu dinner(shrimp scallops and lobster). I liked the scallops but thought it couldve needed just a little more butter. Shrimp was good. The lobster was a bit overcooked. So it came to my plate rubbery. I was fortunate enough to try their filet steak from my neighbor and that was delicious. The veggies are okay and the fried rice I barely touched. Overall the service was good but the food was hit and miss. 3 star solid.

I must admit the service tonight was fanatic. Edward Fire hands was amazing, not only with his energetic approach but in the meal itself. I couldn’t more happy with the restaurant and the staff the served us tonight.

This was our second visit. We were seated right away but then had to wait a very long time for a chef…45 to 50 minutes. They definitely need to staff more for a busy Friday night. We were wishing we had ordered an appetizer for sure. Waitress was very attentive. We ordered steak, chicken and shrimp and shared it. It was fabulous. Chicken fried rice was very good as well. Just right for two! !!

Word to the wise: Make a reservation! I’ve visited this location a dozen times when it used to be Benihanna. So I was excited to try them out. Pros: The food is decently priced for the show/food. It still has the Benihanna sauces and food character. Cons: Prices jumped a few $$ and they omitted the ginger salad with the meal.(The entrée now comes with I believe a ‘choice’ of soup or salad) They were a bit low staffed when I dinned so it made our wait time at the hibachi grill about 30 minutes. The chef was ok, but there wasn’t that Benihanna-ness that I used to know. He didn’t do the egg thing;(Our chef did, however, accidentally throw something on a lady sitting across from me! lol… kinda clumsy but I don’t think I could’ve done better. Overall: The fried rice and my teriyaki chicken were just as expected so I will definitely be going back.

I went in with a friend to grab an early dinner amd catch up. Once we got there the host was vacuuming during operating hours! we got seated and I did let the server know we’ve never been here so he just said he will give us extra time. no help with menu! The chef was funny and entertaining, and made the experience a little better… Long story short, never going back!

Food was okay, the chef was a show in him self. A little overpriced for what you get. The only great sides to this place are the happy hour draft beers, the calamari appetizer and the music.. I think next time I will be going else where…

We came here per request of a friend who was in town and used to come hang out at this sushi joint. Never again. There are only 4 sushi rolls that are on the happy hour menu and it’s the typical California roll, spicy tuna(which wasn’t even spicy), shrimp tempura, and one more that I can’t remember. The sushi tasted okay. Very typical average happy hour sushi. We also got this giant drink called the yokozuanis and while it looked promising, it’s just juice. It’s pretty much a non-alcoholic drink… the Kirin is probably the only alcohol that’s even in that drink. Aside from the food and the drinks just being bleh, the service was absolutely terrible. Our poor waitress looked like she was out of it. A snail could probably be faster at her job than she. It literally took 40 something minutes for her to give us our food. In fact, we watched the chef put our sushi on the top of the counter and it took her at least 15 minutes before even putting that food in front of me. I seriously considered just going up to the sushi bar and grabbing my plate. She just wasn’t very good at her job which in turn made our overall experience at Sumo’s meh. I’m never going to come back here for sushi or drinks. Not worth it at all
