Stopped in for a family pack 3 – 4, and it was great. The place was clean. The price was competitive. The cashiers and other staff were friendly. The food after unwrapping at home was still more than warm. I wished I tried it in store when it was hot! The brisket was delicious, moist and warm. Mo’s spicy sausage was way better than the last time I tried a competitor’s(not worth mentioning). I wasn’t expecting the chicken to be bone in but it was GOOD none the less. I did also try the tea and at 7pm they had just brewed a new pot so it did taste fresh. I would come back again the next time I fly in and buy the family pack again.

Best BBQ in town hands down. This tastes like my homes made ribs and the turkey and chicken is phenomenal. Definitely check out their chopped baker. You won’t be disappointed. I’m a regular here 4 – 5 times a week and don’t see that ever changing. They even have breakfast tacos!!!

Consistently good meat sandwiches. Love the turkey. Wish they had a wheat instead of white bread. Would def recommend.

Super quick service. The brisket plate was perfect. The portions are a good size and very filling. I will definitely return here for BBQ again!

I want to begin by admitting that I am not a «Texas BBQ Guru», so I am writing this review simply based on my personal experience at this highly rated establishment. Now I will say, I DO love a good barbecue — and I have tasted many in my day. However, this was NOT the case here! While on assignment in San Antonio, I was referred here by a co-worker, so I stopped by on my way home from work to grab a quick dinner. The hostess was not friendly or helpful. I asked what she recommended, as it was my first time there. She stated, «you know what? I’m just gonna stop eating here so people will stop asking me that question!» Okay… So I ordered the baby back ribs, knowing they are usually«falling off the bones good». Not the case here!!! They were served without sauce, and they were FULL of fat!!! And I mean, SLABS of FAT instead of meat! Yuck!!! It was probably THEWORSEBBQ I have EVER tasted.

This place is great. Very clean, everything visible from the front. Excellent prices. Friendly service. But the best is the meat! And, after all, that’s what we came for. Brisket is tender and surprisingly lean. Solid but not overpowering smoke flavor. Baked potatoes are HUGE. Beans are more a sweet, baked bean style, which is what I grew up eating at family BBQ’s in Texas. Creamed corn, green beans both excellent. Hot BBQ sauce also very good(and not really hot at all) — try the warm sauce. Also ask for some of the house salsa. Best I’ve had in a long time. Follow that up with banana pudding with real bananas like Grandma made. Great job guys!

Outstanding! Super clean place, family atmosphere. Ordered loaded baked potatoes– which were huge, and very tasty. I added some chopped beef and some of their new smoked salsa and what a meal! The family ordered every side and cutters choice brisket. Nothing was left over– we seriously plowed in and ate it all– including what tasted like homemade banana pudding. My family eats lots of BBQ, and Smokey Mo’s is now at the top of our list of favorites.

I got the sausage sandwich. It was pretty good the cream corn is more like thick biscuit gravy with corn than cream corn. It was a little gross. I thought the prices were a bit high for what I got. The dining room is clean but the tables are community style on folding tables. It comes off more cheap than down home. A fast food version of Rudy’s or something. In the end I enjoyed my sandwich but I’ll probably go elsewhere next time. Edit: I’ll be back for breakfast tacos.

This place can be a hit or miss sometimes. The sides are always on point, I prefer the coleslaw and potato salad. The meat however can sometimes be dry. Maybe I happen to order the meat at the right time? Either way, I continue to visit this place but would not consider it consistent with authentic BBQ. PS the banana pudding is my wife’s favorite!

I had the ribs and beef and the wife had a sausage wrap. I really like that a sausage wrap is an option. The sauce is fantastic — think but not too sweet and a lil spicy. The ribs were very tender but not so fally a party that my friend Wade would complain. Beef was good not great. My biggest complaint here is that for a place with smokey in the name it isn’t all that smokey. Sides I had corn and creamed corn — both unimpressive. All in all it is a good value and good for a BBQ fix, especially the ribs. However there are places I like better.

I got into San Antonio at about 7pm and felt like getting some BBQ. I searched for BBQ joints in the area and saw Smokey Moe’s and thought I’d give it a try. Ordered the combo with brisket and sausage with potato salad and corn on the cob. The good — the sausage was great, a bit spicy, and very tender and juicy. The potato salad was good as well, but not extraordinary. The bad — the brisket was a bit dry and the corn was soggy and didn’t taste good. However, I’ll attribute the bad to the fact that I came at 8pm, and I’m sure the brisket wasn’t fresh and corn was sitting in water for hours. I’d go back, but I’d order the sausage without the brisket, unless it was earlier in the day.

Love the food here, tasty– great portions-friendly service. Tea is great but be cautious, the sweet is very sweet! Only negative things are the atmosphere is very blah and it gets hot in there !

Had craving for BBQ close to home. I’ve had their breakfast tacos and have ordered combo BBQ plates in the past. Tonight: 3 meat combo– pork ribs, briskets and jalapeño sausage. Both the briskets and pork ribs lacked that«smoked» taste. They use indoor smoker and sorry to say, not the same as smoking from a pit; lacked flavor etc. When I have time on weekends I would smoke our own ribs etc). Jalapeño sausage was good. Favorite local Bbq joint in SA. Big Bibs, and Big Daddy’s BBQ.(the ribs)

In addition to some Great barbecue, I think people often forget that Smokey Mo’s also offers breakfast! Their breakfast tacos are overstuffed and very delicious. Our favorite are the sausage, egg and cheese… So yummy with the smoked, cut sausage(not the crumbled kind). For dinner, we love the combo plates with cole slaw and potato salad. Brisket and turkey are fork tender. They also have kids plates: o) I do agree however with another post that they should have healthier options. For anyone watching calories, no veggies or lo-cal options. Still love though xoxo

Love me some Smokey Mo’s! The loaded baked potato with chopped turkey is the absolute best! Talk about thigh sticking good. My family and I are loyal customers. It’s so nice having it so close by.
