I had never been to this one before and I started my order and couldn’t remember the name of one of the donuts that I had got before at HEB. so the young lady in front of me was trying to help me remember the name of it, in front of everyone the older lady in front of me in Spanish, told the young lady helping me, so tell her that we’re not HEB she gets what’s here! thinking that I didn’t speak SPANISH and so i nicely replied back to her in Spanish, that is very rude for her to assume based off my skin color that I didn’t understand what she was saying, second of all our it was none of her business to butt into our conversation if I needed her assistance I would have said so, she never looked back at me nor did she ever say anything. now the donuts that I did wind up buying they were stale all 4 of them! the coffee that I got was actually tasted old and I will never go back there again. The young lady that helped me was very sweet and kind and she made up for the fact that the old lady was rude disrespectful, racist and condescending. I can say in this day and age I can’t imagine how anyone can just assume anything I am fair-skinned however I am also 1\2 Hispanic 1\2 white but chose to be fluent in Spanish. This woman on a early Sunday morning chose to hit this subject!!! lol wrong

Why does the dough taste different then all the other Shipley? This one is maybe wheat bread??? Weird.

Plenty of assorted donuts. The Devils food was very good. The young girl was very sweet and offered me a larger bag for my tacos I purchased next door. They had 2 different sized honey buns. The also have coffee and fountain drinks.

I have put a lot of thought into this review. The service is horrible, really horrible, at this location but has no bearing on my star rating. The kolaches are so awful, It is like an oscar myer wiener stuck in a bland piece of bread, and the donuts are just as bad. There is zero effort put into the product. I don’t give negative reviews lightly so please take heed. I want to shop local so I will find another local donut shop when I am in need of a fix. .

This was not my 1st time in a Shipley’s, only the 1st time to this location. I don’t think I will be back to this one at least. I arrived at 11am(slept in a bit) only to find all chairs put up as if they were closed??? I looked at the hrs to find them open all day??? The staff was not very interested in taking my order or that I was there, she asked what I wanted and before I could finish she walked off to grab the items. I was the only one there at the time no dive thru traffic so they weren’t crazy busy. I had to then give her the rest of my order each time she fetched the items very awkward especially when service and friendliness lack. Food wasn’t memorable, but Oh well will think twice next time, before I decide to take my 3 year old son out for breakfast. I think I just got a bad apple perhaps, thanks for at least pulling down the chairs so we could sit young lady that seemed to be on her way out.

To put it simply, I can’t get enough of this place. I’m a simple glazed doughnut kind of guy usually, but the wide variety of options ensures everyone in my family has what they want. The fact that they have kolaches solidifies this as our go to breakfast spot when we don’t want breakfast tacos. My only detraction is when we got the chocolate glazed doughnuts, the glaze ran off in the box because they are stacked vertically. The first one was tasty, but coming back to the box to realize the chocolate glaze isn’t on the doughnut anymore but rather at the bottom of the box was a bummer. Other than that I’ve been really pleased with our local doughnut(and kolaches) shop

This was my first time trying Shipley’s donuts as I couldn’t resist stopping by, on my way out and on my way home. Yes I came here 2 times in one day. I tried the apple friter, sugar donut, and cinnamon sugar donuts and I’d have to say the donut craving I did not know I had, was fulfilled. The apple fritter was angel soft with a chewy outer layer and fritter gooey yumminess hidden inside. I took the sugar donuts to-go and ate it for breakfast the following morning(microwaved for 15 seconds) Tasted just as good as the fritter if not better. I commend Shipleys for creating donuts with warm flavorful taste, fresh quality, and no room for disappointment. Note i do not want to discredit the one star review below me, but I did not experience the aged donut quality as the reviewer mentioned. Perhaps the reviewer purchased donuts right before closing? The apple fritter was still warm when I bought it. I suggest those who receive cold donuts to utilize the microwave inside the shop.

I’ve never tried a Shipley donut before and came in to the experience totally open but walked away from it totally disappointed. I don’t know if this specific franchise is any indication of the whole, but I ordered a box of a dozen donuts of my choice. Despite having a large variety of donuts to choose from(rolls, claws, and twists), I was told by the disinterested employee I could«only choose the round donuts» «(the donut I wanted) won’t fit in the box»…whatever that means. I have an idea… give me what I want since I’m paying?! When I got home I ate my first Shipley donut and was disappointed, to put it mildly. The donuts were terrible – day old grocery store kind if terrible. I will NEVER go back.

This place is awesome! Even at 5pm, right before they close, the donuts are still nice, soft, and fresh. Since it was our first time, the lady helping us gave us free donuts. If that isn’t considered bonus points then I don’t know what is! Will definitely keep coming back!

I’ve been coming to this place since it opened over 25 years ago and while there are occasional fluctuations in service and the way particular donuts are presented, it has been consistent, good and fresh. To me, the smaller inconsistencies one could complain about are negligible when you are considering a place that has been around so long and has truly stood the tests of time. I love the counter staff. They handle a busy shop with speed and efficiency and still manage to be gracious and polite to childish customers who decide to be rude because they have to wait a few minutes for the glaze on the donuts to dry(True Story, sad I know…)

I don’t really know what I was expecting. I kind of thought the donuts here would be out of the world amazing and I have to say, I was a little disappointed. They were ok, just ok. I tried the sugar twist, cinnamon roll with maple glaze and the raspberry filled. Just a regular old donut. Enough said.

I know that I am going to catch some flack for this review. Even though this is a donut shop the real stars are the kolaches. After all Shipley’s come from Houston and Kolaches are king in Houston. They do donuts okay but my favorite is the ham and cheese kolache. It is like the czech version of the breakfast taco. When I am in the mood for something different than a taco for breakfast I make my way over to get me their kolaches. I just love them when they are fresh and hot and the melted cheese runs out of the end. Man I am getting hungry. I guess I know what I am having for breakfast tomorrow!
