You know the last couple times I’ve been here I’ve been a little taken back and disappointed. And if you read my reviews I hardly ever talk negative about an establishments cleanliness and or anything really… it really takes alot for me to really be dissatisfied, especially with a family owned business. Recently, I had made the decision to skip out from going to Ritas. Twice now either myself or my accompaniment(s) have had stuff on or in the water or drink. Twice have one of us ordered the caldo de res and it not be fully cooked. I really am not one to complain about dirty silverware… several places I’ve left a more positive review where I had to wipe the silverware from the dish film. The restrooms too, never said anything negative ever about a family owned business. Well this last time may have been my last. Serious food… egg? Sauce? Blatently disregarded by a the staff rolling it. Wrong order brought out, and a few other things that made me reconsider… oh and I never did care for the burley dude who usually is there breakfast running the cash register. Not an ounce of receptive quality. Those of you who have been here for breakfast know what I’m talking about, ringing stuff up like a racehorse and throwing a total out with a grimacing look. No «how was your meal today?» Or «Thank you» I may think about giving it another shot down the road.

Good tacos friendly staff… a regular place for my family. Not the best I’ve ever had but a solid choice for breakfast. Parking can be tricky.

The food was great. However the service could be better, took about to an hour to get our food. The server was no where to be found. When the food did arrive, it was incorrect.

Other than the staff being really sweet, everything else sucked… yes I said it, sucked!!! When we first got there, they said they only accept cash because their credit card mechine wasn’t working. Then once we ordered, it took them longer than the usual time to get our food & I was getting impatient. People who got there after my family and I, we’re getting their food before us. By the time the food came, 2 out of the 4 dishes we ordered was under cooked, the rice was smushy & the tortillas looked like they bought them at the H.E.B Mercado down the street, fake! I will not be coming back to this place. Worse Mexican restaurant ever. Who ever said this place is awesome is blind.

The food is ok. To say that this place stands out amongst the competitive market that is San Antonio taco places it doesnt. Ive sat in restaurant, I call in orders and what compells me to write this review is because theses guys took no accountability. With up to a 20 minute lead time I still end up waiting 6 – 15 minutes long at pick up. Ive tried talking to the staff about it, indirect replies and lame excuses like«we don’t start the order till you get here» To top it off their prices seem to be at premium levels compared to the market that surrounds them. Wheather I sit in or pick up I wait longer than any other taco place around here and pay more than any other taco place around here. Booo

Went for Sunday breakfast and once again relied on Unilocal for guidance. I’ve passed by Rita’s forever, but had never gone in. No real reason; just didn’t. I was happy to see a variety of people in the dining room. Older couples, families and a few singles. One thing I picked up on right away was that this place has many regulars. There are pictures of the owners’ family all around the walls and cash register. Also there’s an American flag shadowbox on display, along with some religious memorabilia. The layout of the dining room, with the added décor makes it feel like your dining at your grandma’s house. Food was very well priced. Eggs, beans, breakfast potatoes and most importantly, the tortillas, were all perfect. Coffee was good too. Not great, but way better than Mi Tierra’s coffee. I enjoyed my breakfast and so did my fiancé. She even made the comment that she would like to come back. Only downside to Rita’s is the parking. It’s super limited and cramped. But if you can get parked, the food and atmosphere are worth the effort.

This place is seriously delicious! Huevos Rancheros that oozed just the right amount of velvety yolk to mix with a spicy but not too hot sauce. Flour tortillas that are huge and taste like mi abuella was back in the kitchen. The bean and cheese chalupas were perfectly crispy and dripping with cheese! Also grabbed a breakfast taco… egg and potato. Wow… so delish! But the crown jewel was the barbacoa taco(only on Sat and Sun). Ordered it on a corn(freshly made) tortilla with a side of chopped onion, cilantro and lime. It’s been a long time since I’ve had that kind of authentic Mexican goodness! Glad to have found this place… thanks Unilocal

LOVE the breakfast tacos! They come out with cheese melted, hot, steamy, and so yummy! The only reason I didn’t give all five stars is because service is kind of slow. Other than that, this is the best place to get great breakfast tacos!

The best breakfast tacos I have ever had. Period. I LOVE Ritas! I go to San Antonio a couple of times a year… and I always stop here. It is authentic Mexican food that is prepared by folks who really know what they are doing! Yes, it is a simple set up — but the food is worth it! The chorizo and egg, and carne quisada tacos are my favorites!

I drive by this place everyday on my way to work and today was my first visit. I had the special, which changes everyday. Today, Thursday, it was cheese enchilada, carne guisada, rice and beans with a tea for $ 6.59. The food was good but after eating my stomach has been upset. The service was OK. The restaurant is nothing fancy and the men’s restroom was pretty grimey. I’m not saying I’ll never return but I’m definitely not in a rush to go back.

Okay Rita’s is good Tex Mex comfort food. This is the place for breakfast period. The plates are well portioned and the foods is very good. The tea and coffee are well flavored. My favorite breakfast taco of all time can be found here at Rita’s — country sausage and egg with gravy. The gravy is made from the juice of the sausage and some ranchero sauce. You can get this as a taco or a plate, but I would recommend the taco. First of all you can’t eat more than 2 tacos because they’re stuffed so don’t worry about not getting your fill. The taco allows for the gravy to flavor the tortilla(must do flour) and you get this great tortilla soak in this gravy flavor. I like spicy food and this taco is perfect. Not overly spicy, and full of flavor. RITA’S BREAKFASTIS A MUSTHAVE! This place is worth driving across town for. If you go on a weekend you best get there early. Parking is limited and you will have to wait for a table. Top notch family restaurant. Tip: when ordering country sausage you MUST request the gravy.

Another enjoyable lunch destination while in San Antonio. We were in the area(not the best area) and in need of food for lunch. I brought out my trusty Unilocal app and found this Mexican gem among the rough. Based solely on Unilocal I didn’t know how big the inside was going to be, and I was surprised to know that the inside is quite large. Seat yourself upon entering and we grabbed a set in the center. Menu’s were quickly brought to the table. Options on the menu were a good variety, something for everyone if you like Mexican. I wanted some taco’s and decided on the Beef Fajita Taco’s, three taco’s served with rice and beans. Service was quick. We did have to wait a little more than I anticipated to wait for the food but when waiting for great quality food a little extra time is typically needed. When the food arrived it looked delicious. I dug right in to my food, unwrapped my tacos and got started. A large portion of beef with sauteed onions and green peppers, with melted cheese and then I topped each one with some fresh avocado. Tasted very flavorful and fresh from the kitchen. No frozen food here. The atmosphere is very family oriented and you feel at home right as you enter, something I’m always looking for. Thanks to Rita’s for my full tummy and great lunch destination with a group.

Worst service ever I will never go back there the food was just ok. My friend and I went there for breakfast and were the only non Hispanic people in there and were treated very poorly and made fun of by the water in Spanish because he did not know we spoke Spanish I will never ever go back

I was brought here by a good friend that insisted we start our Saturday afternoon(we went to bed late) here. Even at 1:30pm, this place was hopping for a taco joint! Coffee was too bland for my taste(i like dark roasted) but the tacos I got(2) were hard to finish because of how big they were!!! Homemade tortillas is the way to my heart. I had a potato con huevo and bean and cheese taco that ended up lasting me all the way until dinner at night. Beans are made with lard(although very tasty but watch out if you are a vegetarian like me) but you could not tell in the consistency. All signs in the restaurant were hand written with specials of the day and week on florescent poster boards. Parking lot was tiny so you may have to find another parking spot in the street next to it and around the corner if it’s packed. We lucked out and got a spot by the dumpster :-/ Also, check out the tribute to, who I am assuming is the owner(?), on the wall near the entrance. Such a beautiful lady with beautiful quotes and pictures.

Breakfast tacos are A-mazing! Is this an upscale location? No. But, if you are looking for reasonable prices and delicious breakfast, this is where it’s at. Always think I get through 2 tacos… it is impossible!!! Very filling. . TACOS. True story… we went in for breakfast with my cousin’s baby who is fair skinned with bright red curly hair(very«uncommon» San Antonio trait I guess)…all the Guela’s around us were coming up and touching the baby’s hair like she was some kind of relic… pretty funny :)

The best barbacoa in town period! Large tacos and great coffee. Friendly wait staff. There’s always a crowd, so be ready to wait a few minutes to get a table if you go on the weekend. Parking can be tricky also as the lot will fill up.
