Tasty, tasty. It is a literally a hot mess but was pretty good. Super fast service, too. I had the spicy beef fajitas were were good – more of a 3.5 than a 4, but will round it up to 4 because of the service.

Fantastic. Someone suggested I come here and try the puffy tacos and I’m glad I did. I tried chicken, carne, and spicy beef fajita and next time I’ll do all fajita. Very good with a kick.

My first stop since getting back to Sa. I grew up right down the street and Henry’s never disappoints. This express is just as good as the big restaurant. Quick drive thru, super friendly staff. The beans were a bit spicy. I thought I was just being a punk since i hadn’t had real food like this in a while, but even my sister said they were extra spicy that day. Filled my belly and my heart. Thanks Henry’s

Well I was wanting to have lunch at Barrio Barista due to getting my tires rotated at discount tires on bandera and Hillcrest and Michelle O gave it good reviews, but no one was available or near by. So I went to Henry’s Puffy Taco Express and took my order to go, I ordered the Tex Mex Plate and the enchilada was good very cheesy and little greasy, rice and refried beans was ok, tortillas was old and the Picadio puffy taco was little cold, and to me was not fresh like it was under a heat lamp. The girl that took my was cute and nice and cause of that I give this place three stars instead of two.

I have had their food to go a couple of times. The enchiladas were pretty good. I didn’t particularly like their specialty, the puffy tacos, mostly because the puffy shells were saturated with grease, but that may be because I got them to go so the grease had longer to dribble down from the meat. There are zillions of Mexican restaurants in the immediate vicinity. This would not be among my top 5 in this neighborhood. They are less than a block from Lisa’s, a much better Mexican restaurant.

We stopped by here while on vacation to get some takeout. They were extremely friendly and fast, and judging by the fact that I’m over here in a happy food coma, delicious. Their tacos came fully loaded with guacamole and were just plain amazing.

Puffy taco, I love you. This place was great. We visited on a Friday afternoon, and loved every bite. I got the two taco plate. The charro beans were yum, with lots of good cilantro flavor. The shredded chicken tacos were awesome, and go ahead and add guacamole & cheese,(because why not?). The roasted green salsa(found on the salsa cart) was my favorite! We will visit again!

I went here with family while visiting in SA. I did not even know this place existed. I usually go to the big one. This place is small and you have to place your order when you get there with the cashier. I ordered chicken clalupas and they were delicious. My uncle had some beef puffy tacos which I took and bite of and they were better then my chalupas. I also ordered tortilla soup which was just ok and it was a good size. I ordered the small one and it was plenty. The margaritas were delicious. I did silver patron margaritas on the rocks. I asked for wine and there was none. No biggie but if you like wine you will not find it here. The employees were friendly and we went on a Friday at 5:30 and it was not very busy but by the time we left at 6:45 they were starting to get packed. I would go back again if I was in that area. Nothing fancy and you have to get up to order which I am never really a fan of these types of places but they did a great job and the food was hot.

Not the nicest place to look at but the tacos were good and crunchy and burritos were great!

There are two options when one wants to try Henry’s you can go to their Bandera 410 location or their Woodlawn location. I had always gone to the Bandera location near Woodlawn when they were in the building(Lisa’s restaurant) is now in. I remember always being fascinated as a little girl by all the Tejano memorabilia. Now as an adult I prefer the woodlawn location which is still by their old building that now Lisa’s is in. I enjoy this location because for me it’s more convenient. What I love about this restaurant is the efficiency of how quickly the food comes out. It’s exactly the same food as the Bandera 410 location but this location is more of a self serve location. You can get whatever drink you’d like and they also have a chips and salsa bar. The parking isn’t too bad and there’s never too many people its usually just right. I really enjoy their cheese enchiladas and a picadillo puffy taco. The service is great and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food given. Overall I enjoy this location and plan to be back soon!

Henry’s Puffy Tacos is most notable for their world famous puffy taco and I’ll admit, its the best! I have been coming to both the Woodlawn and Bandera Rd. location since I was a kid. What I like about this is how fast they send the food quickly. You get the same plate as the restaurant off Bandera for a fast and simple price. My favorite off the menu has to be the puffy taco plate which comes with two picadillo puffy tacos, rice, beans, and tortillas. If you order the queso I would buy the small only because it gets hard after being out for awhile. They have a refill station for soft drinks and a chili station to grab hot sauce for chips which also has its own station. You can come back for as many as you want. If you are looking for great Tex-Mex food in San Antonio you definitely have to try Henry’s Puffy Taco Express.

A friend and I were here on Friday night to get some puffy tacos. We got the Shredded Chicken and Spicy Beef Puff Taco plates. I loved my spicy beef puff taco, the taco is fried and beef is flavorful, it was a great combo. Shredded chicken puff taco tastes lighter, it tasted great as well. They also have a free chips(although kind greasy and stale), and good selection at the salsa bar. Very friendly service. We enjoyed our food, will be back for sure.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a happy smiling cashier. She was very prompt, courteous, helpful and joyful. As it was my first time eating here, I didn’t know their ordering process and she was very helpful. I ordered the shredded chicken puffy tacos and a spicy beef fajita flour taco. The puffy tacos were very flavorful and the tortillas fried perfectly. You could tell they use clean grease which is really refreshing. The shredded chicken was moist and savory. The spicy beef fajita flour taco was AWESOME. It had some sort of sauce on it that I can’t explain but it was great! The flour tortilla was soft and homemade. The rice and charro beans were very good as well. All in all, I had a surprisingly good lunch considering the outward appearance and the neighborhood. I will definitely be returning!

Mmmmmmm! I love this puffy taco. Steak fajita and avocado taco is the best. Love the beans a la charra. It’s not fancy but it’s goooood stuff!

The food is well prepared and service is great. This is a restaurant that I frequent because they have a nice variety of entrées. They have delicious puffy tacos and amazing tortilla soup, definitely a place I would come back too and recommend. Service is fast, which makes this a great place to pick up a quick lunch.

The Best puffy tacos anywhere!!! I have to admit I am definitely biased to Henry’s since I have been coming here for EVER! I have eaten at tons of Mexican food places in SA but we always return to these puffy tacos. This particular Henry’s is small but they certainly have tables that could fit large parties. The staff is always super nice! They also have free chips and a salsa bar. I love that they also have Big Red Soda as an option to drink!

Henry’s is always reliably good. Lots of food for a nice price. I know Henry’s has a storied history but as a transplant I can say it is well deserved. This spot has become a regular in my restaurant rotation. I love the chicken and beef fajita puffy tacos and their lemonade is a nice add-on. BONUS: There is a drive through when you are feeling lazy!

Eye-opening to the world of puffy tacos! This was our second introduction to puffy tacos(in one day). Our first was Los Barrios based on some online reviews. But this BYFAR beats out Los Barrios on puffy tacos. We got the guacamole tacos and were amazed by them. Lots of guac, but the shell was like nothing I’ve ever had in the NYC area.

When it comes to Puffy Tacos, Henry’s get it right every time. By far the best Puffy Tacos I have had in San Antonio… The pidadillo and spicy chicken fajita puffy tacos are my staples and they are amazing… Service is always polite and pretty fast, but you can get slowed down if they are having a busy lunch or dinner… Anytime a friend asks where to go for Mexican food, I always ask, «Have you ever been to Henry’s Puffy Tacos on Bandera just outside the 410 loop?» that is how good they are… Hope you get to enjoy this amazing local cuisine… Enjoy

As a native San Antonian, it’s in my blood to love puffy tacos. I had only been to the other Henry’s off Bandera and 410, so I was looking forward to trying the ‘original’ Henry’s– where it all started. Chicken puffy taco plate, with guac and sour cream and cheese(duh!) add ons– you get rice, and the choice of refried beans or borracho beans. I opted for the borracho beans. Scoop your own chips and pick your salsa at the salsa bar. The wait time was not long at all. The tacos were delish; the rice was good and the beans had bacon and a nice hint of spice to them. I went for lunch but they ALSO have dos-a-ritas or big red-a-ritas. That is on my ‘to-do’ list the next time I pop in, NOT during my lunch hour. :)
