Ranch at Shavano Park Apartments

My truck was stolen from this gated community 2 months ago. Not completely going to complain at the complex. But just another reason im not overly impressed with this place.

Prices continue to rise and are no longer competitive due to newer surrounding apartments. The location is good, but with all the construction on 1604, the traffic gets diverted to the access road which makes it impossible to get out as people tend to not let you in. Crime is also on a rise here; it seems the police are here more and more often responding to calls and for some reason they took their security cameras down and not too long after that car break-​ins resumed (I myself was a victim to this). A guy committed suicide in my building which caused everyone to get blocked in while police, coroner’s and medical examiner’s swarmed.
Theres also issues with people not picking up after their pets and finding parking at night (although this is pretty common around SA so don’t let that deter you). The office staff is wonderful and you couldn’t ask for a more caring community director.
The views are great if you get an apartment along the highway, but beware people here can’t drive so you’ll likely be waking up every morning/​night to sirens or honking. I wish I were joking but two people have died outside of my bedroom window since I lived here. One guy was killed when his car got pinned under an 18-​wheeler and the other was a lady that lost control and ran into the rocks on the 1604 on-​ramp that runs parallel to the apartment complex. She got trapped in her car which burst into flames and her gas tank exploding killed her (
). I’ve also witnessed a low-​speed chase with a drunk driver on the highway at night as well. If the price was MUCH cheaper I may have stayed but with the increases every year there’s nicer places with less drama for less money, even if you do have to drive a few more minutes.
