FOODWASOKBUTSERVICEWASCRAZY! Went there during lunch hour with some local friends, Jorge and Chuy. A gangbanger couple seated behind us had a small child who screamed the entire time. After 20 minutes of wailing hell, I told the waitress we wanted another table. She said no problem and needed to clean up another location. While she was taking care of business, the gangbanger thug walked over to our table to cause trouble. He was a drugged out freak with tats running down his arms and around his face. He was sporting a Cowboys Jersey, the most suck ass NFL losing team in history. «Do you have a problem with my baby, muth#$^!» he asked. I told the scum bag that there was no problem and that the waitress was going to get us another table. Then he said«Then you got a problem with my baby and if you have a problem with my baby then you have a problem with me.» Obviously this gang banging low life didn’t take philosophy 101 at the local community college. Normally I would have laid the bastard out at the bar but he was with his wife and kid. I have respect unlike this dumb trash talking bozo. When they waitress came back over to move us to the other table, the gangbanger interceded and said«no way». I finally stood up as Chuy and Jorge readied their brass knuckles under the table and stared him down. It was going to be a quick fight. Me hitting him and him hitting the ground. «You’re about to make the worst decision of your short lived life,» I whispered as I got up in his grill. He started smiling and his bad breath, missing teeth, and gold stubs were disgusting. I threw a knee to his groin and he buckled over just in time for me to throw him across a table into some beer glasses. He started screaming like his baby and the waitress said she was calling the police. We hauled ass out of there laughing our butts off and still hungry. We ended up at cantina down the street shooting tequila and with a big smile on our faces.

4 words, comfort food COLD beer. Twin Peakshe advertises 29 degree beers but never delivers. MK Davis and their beer schooners are always served very cold… a local favorite that never disappoints. Great service ftom the wait staff, table cleaners. receptionists, cashiers and bar tenders. Great job MK! Great food with extremely relaxed environment. Teach the big boys something MK, you have the right model.

Was recommended, n came to try their fried chicken. Made fresh every order so u have to wait about 15mins. Very tasty fried chicken n nice service. Been around since 1956. Didn’t try anything else, but they are know for mega mug of beer. A local’s favorite n it was great to see places like this still exists.

Boy! I have not been here in a long time! And, they have not changed: juke box playing, dark(bar-like) ambience w/TVs playing sports, beer & wine schooners practically @ every table, friendly staff, same(comfort food) menu, and everyone having a great time. It’s still family-owned & a place to celebrate special occasions because prices are reasonable, so it can get crowded w/wait lines. We, ourselves, went to celebrate my nephew’s 21st birthday & had to wait abt 15 mins. We ate crispy dogs, nachos, soft chicken tacos & Alaskan pollock plates. One thing for sure, their food is consistent in flavor! You won’t see too many tourists here, just local folks who have kept them in business.

3.5 stars. Food is cheap and good enough for lunch. Not much else to say other than the place is crowded most of the time so get there early before the lunch crowd arrives.

So, the old trusty MK Davis! Our recent visit to SA my family wanted to gather at MK for our annual Christmas gift exchange. I typically do not stray from my old faithful Mi Tierra(it’s tradition) don’t hate. MK Davis did not disappoint. Service was quick, our waitress took our drink orders(ice cold scooners) for everyone. Our food came out quickly, the crispy dogs our the sh__! Reminds me of when we were kids. The nachos compuestas, fish burger and Mexican plate were just good old fashion cooking… We really enjoy visiting SA and enjoy visiting spots my parents use to frequent. Now I understand why they enjoyed these family owned spots and sometimes you just forget they are there.

Meh — not the best steak ever, no sear at all, but I had the ribeye and it was well cooked and very tender. Fries and salad were both good. This place is a great value especially on the fishbowl sized schooners of beer. I liked it and will definitely go back sometime. The atmosphere is very old school. There was an original Pearl Beer clock behind the bar and one of those drop down Budweiser Clydesdale globes. Basically picture a place with a non-ironic original Pearl beer clock and cheap domestic beer and that is the atmosphere. There is an old Mrs Pacman/Galaga machine in the back and I almost gave this place 5 stars just for that.

Saturday date night. Atmosphere, cold schooners and nachos… who could ask for more. I get exactly what I’m looking for in a down home, old school destination restaurant. I frequent this place and have since 1972 especially for the red flocked wallpaper behind the bar and the coldest schooner of beer in town. When I leave I am full and happy and didn’t spend a whole paycheck.

This place is okay. After reading some of the reviews and seeing how full the parking lot gets on the weekends wanted to move it to the top of my ‘place to check out’ list. But I wasn’t thrilled about it. The food tasted on the bland side. The gravy like it came out of a can. Mind you I’m cool with certain standings with the older restaurants and how they don’t like to change it if it isn’t broken, but for goodness sake add some salt! The server was very sweet and helpful, and quickly refilled drinks while we waited and waited and waited for the bland food. The beer was cold and the food was hot. Maybe that’s what keeps the place so busy?! I dunno. I’m glad to have tried it out and now mark it off my list.

It’s been around since 1956. I’m sure at one point, it was great. I went there for lunch on a Tuesday and it was packed. There was no direction as to how seating takes place. A bartender, Angie, was nice enough to seat me at the bar with full service. Because I had previewed the menu beforehand, I knew I’d be ordering the chicken fried steak. This came with fries, salad, and a piece of toast. I didn’t eat much of the salad because it seemed fresh out of a bag and I didn’t touch the toast. Fries were steak fries which were fine. Unfortunately, in my opinion: the chicken fried steak was not all that. Maybe back in its heyday, this place was delicious. Nowadays, it is really nothing noteworthy. If you are fervently seeking a new place to try, possibly give it a go. I didn’t drink alcohol because I had to return to work after lunch, however the people drinking alcoholic beverages at MKs appeared to be having a good time.

Went in for the meatloaf special but they were out. Ordered the chicken fried steak. I guess steak is a loosely used term here bc meat was thin and about a chewy as eating a loafer left in the swamp. The mashed potatoes were cold and tasted like a Mashed ball of rice. The waitress brought me my Luke warm food and then disappeared… never to be seen or heard from again. I should also mention all of the waitresses are about a hundred years old. This place used to be pretty good but feels like a poorly run cafeteria at an old folks home now.

My boyfriend took me here for a late night dinner. We waited about 10 minutes for a table and ended up sharing a long table with another couple but that was okay. I like that the chairs have MK carved into the wood — nice decorating touch. I ordered the fried shrimp and it honestly wasn’t the best. The salad that came with it was all iceberg :(, I prefer more romaine lettuce. Based on the other reviews on here it looks like I should have ordered a burger or chicken fried steak. My boyfriend enjoyed a schooner of dos xx and fajitas. I’d like to try this place again and order something else.

Definitely ol school San Antonio, The wall paneling and velvet wallpaper make you remember the days gone bye. I have been going here for years and it is a definite go to when people from out of town visit. I must say that I was recently impressed that the menu now includes a vegetarian section. Lunch specials are good portions and very reasonable prices. My favorite is the spicy hot hamburger steak and sangria!

I wasn’t impressed by this place. Yea, it’s been in the neighborhood for generations. Yea, they have cool carved seats. Yep, the beers are large. But the food wasn’t all that great. I opted for the hot hamburger steak. It was a hamburger patty, no bun, with a few jalapenos and some American cheese on top. Not impressed. The onion rings were not up to my standards. Want good ones? Go down the way to Tip Top. I don’t understand why people go gaga over the beer here. Not a good selection– all the major brewers, no craft beer. It’s in a largish cup for $ 5 or $ 6. Better deals elsewhere. The beer looked flat, and technically, a chalice isn’t the proper glassware for the styles of beers that they’re serving. The food took a long time to arrive, since they were busy. But they brought some chips and salsa to make up for the delay. The offering wasn’t anywhere up to the standards of the local taquerias. You’re not missing much here. Over priced, and lackluster.

Still solid comfort food. Husband had the cod plate, I had the fisherman’s platter. I asked for cocktail sauce. This was a ‘miss’. It took awhile because I guess they were ‘making’ it. The poor sauce had no kick at all. Not sure what was mixed in. Don’t think it was horseradish. It wasn’t ketchup, though. Today was OK. Our server Pedro was a good guy, taking care of several tables including large groups and did just fine.

My bf and I were excited to take a ride on our bicycles to a nearby restaurant to grab dinner. I searched on Unilocal and we decided to take a ride here! We wanted to feel like we worked out a little before we stuffed ourselves to the max! We rolled up and were trying to figure out where to park our bikes, the kitchen staff suggested the back patio because they said bikes had been stolen from the bike rack they provide before. The security guard quickly directed us to the bike rack and said he would be there to watch the bikes. So we had our own security personnel to watch over our bikes while we dined in! The security guard told us not to worry because they had cameras installed and they had frequent bike riders visit. Either way be pre cautious that bikes have been stolen from there before, so make sure the security guard is there if u park your bike on the rack. Now onto the good stuff. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, as I always do, and as always I was extremely happy! My bf said the chicken was dry but I say NOPE! The gravy was nice and warm, just perfect for my fries and chicken. I had to ask our server for more gravy when I used up the first round. My bf ordered the fried fish and all I could hear from him was that the tarter sauce was the best that he had ever had. He ordered a schooner of shiner bock and it seemed to please him. The food was amazing and anytime I visit I will always have the CFC! The service was pretty good, they were very busy on this Sunday night we visited and a server that was already cut and texting at the bar took it upon herself to get up and take our drink order until our server was caught up enough to greet us, what great team work! The only thing that annoyed me was this, ok so on every table there is a ranch and 1000 island for the guest to use as they please. Well I don’t know why but I had to guard the ranch with my life! Every server that had passed kept trying to ask us for our ranch, like they didn’t want to run to get another one for their table. I just think it’s tacky for any server to interrupt a table during their dining experience to ask for something off of their table. If there is a problem with how many ranch dispensers they have then they should think of another way of serving the ranch, like in little ramekins. Until next time I will be dreaming of the chicken fried chicken and cream gravy! Go try it!
