How was the food at Cristan’s Tacos? Honestly, I have no idea. Yes, I had the beef enchilada plate, and yes I ate some of it, but I was too distracted to notice whether my meal was any good. I walked in and picked a seat near the front door. I immediately focused on the menu and then placed my order. When I looked up, I saw the ceiling was falling apart and some of the ceiling fans had broken blades.(Check out my picture, it’s nauseating.) Can you imagine the walls of a kindergarten that hasn’t been cleaned in months, with little black hand prints smeared everywhere? That’s what the walls looked like. The bar area had shoe scuffmarks that had probably been there for decades. Oh, and the bus stop situated 20 feet directly in front of the restaurant really added to the overall class and ambiance.(You do recognize sarcasm, right?) If I hadn’t already ordered, I would have walked out without eating. I’m told that this restaurant was quite popular 50 years ago, and it may have been. But that shine wore off long long ago. Time for a mop, some plaster, and a few buckets of paint. Some disinfectant wouldn’t be a bad idea either. The good news is I didn’t see any bugs, but that will tell you what I thought of the place when I describe«no bugs» as the«good news.» So how was the food? I forced myself to eat about half of my lunch before I felt so slimy and sick that I needed to leave. So, I don’t even remember what the food tasted like. I would say I’ll review the food on my next visit — but you know that’s not going to happen.

Love eating here, best flour tortillas in San Antonio and the breakfast tacos are classic. You have to get Carne Guisada taco is amazing, for you non-Mexican’s Carne Guissada is beef chunks on a rick thick gravy. Very good. Others worth eating are: Picadillo, Choriz & Egg, and Barbacoa. Barbacoa are beef chicks slowly cooked and it’s the meatiest and tenderest meat you’ll ever eat. I only eat they’re breakfast tacos so is review is only for breakfast tacos. Breakfast tacos 10⁄10.

Cristan’s is a tiny, hole in the wall taqueria popular with SAC students and neighborhood locals since 1965. The service is good on some occasions. Carne guisada tacos are my favorite. They also make good chicken fajitas however they were a bit dry last time I ordered. I’m not too impressed with the chorizo/egg and the country sausage tacos. And the flour tortillas were good and could hold pretty well but they were a bit too dusty with flour.

I love the carne guisada tacos! This place is close to my work and has a drive through. I usually call my order in on the way over and it is ready by the time i get there. I haven’t tried anything other than the tacos.
