Very thoroughly impressed with this place. The atmosphere was relatively quiet, I liked the fact that they offer dairy products that are locally sourced(considering I work in agriculture myself), and the espresso was strong and full bodied. Definitely started making me drowsy(which is what caffeine does to me — it doesn’t keep me awake). The staff was friendly and inviting, and if I wasn’t falling asleep(Starbucks’ watered down drinks don’t do that to me unless I have 3 or 4), I would’ve ordered another one. The prices were fairly reasonable compared to getting more than you’d get from Starbucks, which I usually avoid like the plague.

We just moved to San Antonio and we were looking to find a «Local Coffee Shop» that was NOT Starbucks and this definitely hit the spot! Coffee was amazing, plenty of seating inside and out. We enjoyed spending some time here today. Thank you and we will be back!

They have the most amazing caramel lattes ever!!! That is my go to drink of choice and it’s delicious hot or iced. I admit it’s a little pricey and the café is pretty darn hipster, but it’s a very chill environment and I can definitely dig it. It’s a treat for me when I want to «splurge» on myself and what a delicious treat it is!

This is the perfect coffee shop! The coffee itself is ONPOINT. The cortado — 2 shots of espresso with 2 oz of hot milk — is my favorite. Perfect for sipping to enjoy the supremely tasty coffee roasts. I also really like the atmosphere, which is a mix of folks studying/working and people catching up. There’s a good mix of big tables for spreading out, and small tables for individuals hammering away at their laptops. The wi-fi is free and reliable, and there is an abundance of outlets. The music is hipster upbeat pop and not too loud. Best of all, the baristas are very friendly and don’t give you the stink eye if you’ve been plopped down working for a few hours, as there is a surplus of space(so different than in NYC!). I’ve been coming here many days of the week to study for the medical school boards, and I’m happy to have found somewhere so welcoming. There are also many places in the same complex(Salata, Smoke BBQ, Jimmy John’s) for when you need lunch.

Unless you’re a diehard coffee aficionado, this is not the place for you. Every time I go to a local coffee I feel like I’ve just been bent over a barrel. Admittedly, I am NOT a coffee aficionado and as such, I can’t tell the difference between what Starbucks uses in their drinks and what Local is using in theirs. The drinks are smaller, cost as much or more, and the variety is lacking. The place itself has free WiFi and looks like a hipster haven. I’m really not cool enough to hang out at Local Coffee. Anyway, if you’re into coffee, maybe this is your place. If you’re a passive coffee fan that likes variety, flavors, and Americanized Italian coffee treats, this is not your place.

Local is my favorite place in San Antonio. When I first moved to San Antonio I chose this coffee shop to hang out and do my homework at until I got my internet up and running. That was over a year ago and I have had amazing service since day 1. This was the first place I made friends in SA. It was so easy to make friends here though because the staff are always friendly, quickly caught on that I was a regular, and made an effort to get to know me, ask how my day is going and not just push me along the line of other customers. They are this way with more than just the regulars though, even if they have seen you only twice. I can confidently say they have the best coffee in San Antonio. They have their own roasting company, merit, and carefully select each coffee and will be happy to tell you all about it. They make great pour overs, the few extra minutes it takes is definitely worth it. They know the ins and out of the roasting process and it really shows. I used to think Starbucks was good, and now I’m spoiled and hate going anywhere else. The store itself is awesome too. It has a great atmosphere, it’s recently updated, and has a modern rustic feel. There is a community bulletin board that you can post freely on, drawings, business cards, posters. They even sponsored two families in need this year for Christmas to help provide them with things they need for their children and their home. If you want a new favorite coffee shop, this is your place. And if you happen to be the rare person who doesn’t like your cup of coffee, or feels like the service wasn’t up to par, just say so. They will happily remake your drink or address your concerns. They really do care about your experience so don’t be scared! Thanks for always making my day just a little bit brighter, and a little bit yummier.

Best coffee shop in San Antonio that I’ve visited thus far. The baristas know how to make a great cup of brew, latte, macchiato, and more. The environment is clean, urban, student friendly and a great place to hang out and chat over coffee with friends. Lots of seating available. I only gave them four stars because they do not have Almond milk. They do have Soy, and lactose free but that doesn’t sub for those almond milk lovers like myself.

Solid coffee shop: I’ve studied here multiple times. It’s a decent sized shop but the only bad thing is that sometimes it’s hard to find open seats, as well as a close parking spot, especially during peak hours. They do have outdoor seating. The coffee doesn’t disappoint. I’ve gotten their lattes, cappuccinos, and lemon-flavored iced tea. I like this location a lot better than the one at Pearl, since it’s bigger and feels more open.

I can’t say enough good things about this café. Although they don’t roast their own coffee, they have done an excellent job or sourcing good blends and single origin coffees from terrific roasters. The espresso machine is top notch, the baristas are well trained and super pleasant, and the drink selections are limited with no nonsense frills. The shots they pull are always well balanced and clean, which in turn lend themselves to excellent espresso drinks. I went to San Antonio in October when it was still in the 80s and, I was delighted to find that the iced espresso drinks were just so perfect… I had 2EVERYDAY(hence the 6 check ins in 4 days) switching between iced cortados(yes, you can so that) and iced cappuccinos. The regular hot cappuccino has a rich foam and the the well balanced espresso makes for a perfectly rounded smooth finish. yummm! The café itself is super chic and a great place to just chill and soak in the east coast vibe. The cold Brewer iced coffee was good, not great.

This is a great place to wind down, read, chat with friends, or catch up on work. The staff is friendly and the Chi Latte is fantastic! The coffee is decent, although they may have switched coffee bean and I found it to have a bit of a bitter after taste. The bakery items are delicious. Next time you are there try the Hippie Bar or the oatmeal cookies. It can get a bit crowded but never is too loud or uncomfortable. Great place to meet interesting people.

Though parking is difficult, I highly prefer this location to the Alamo Heights one. The staff and customers are more of the friendly neighbor variety, less pretentious hipster jag-off. Let me repeat: this applies to both the customers AND staff. Local coffee uses great brews, I especially enjoy their draft cold brew. The featured brew of the day is also a solid option. Interior has lots of seating options and room to work, with a few sweet and savory pastry options to munch on. Pet-friendly and shaded outdoor seating available.

I give this place 3.5 stars, and it really hurts me to do that. Here are my reasons. I frequent Local coffee about once a week, usually when I’m out doing errands and I need a break. And I love to go there especially on weekends. The coffee and the chai latte are my favorite. The service has always been good. This is where it gets ugly. As soon as you walk in and if you don’t look like a hipster, you get the stared down by «hipsters» pretending to be studying on their laptops and taking up space! They sit there and nurse one drink and stare at everybody. Really? Shouldn’t you be studying or writing a paper? So I have to take my chai to go because you are taking up space and doing nothing. I do remember one time I was able to actually enjoy my chai there, it was a holiday weekend. No students around. It was actually quite pleasant. I guess management is trying to change things, because the last time I went there, there was this long cafeteria style(like in elementary school) table they had placed and they were installing electrical outlets so these so called«studious students» can sit there and not take up a table for two or for four. Maybe they can stare each other down instead on the patrons that walk in. Time will be the judge. I’m hoping all the students will sit at that table and let people that want to enjoy a chai or coffee for maybe just 30 minutes be able to sit at a table and not have to always take it to go. We shall see.

Local Coffee is nearly the exact coffee place I was looking for when I came to San Antonio. I was lucky enough to have an amazing place that I used to frequent back in Sacramento called Chocolate Fish, and though this isn’t an exact replica, it’s close enough to make me feel at home. There are few places that I’ll go and feel comfortable drinking my coffee black. This is one of those places. Get a slow pour coffee for yourself, or get two cups and share it with a friend. You’ll have enough for 2 – 4 cups, roughly. The coffee is tasty, not too bitter and has a surprising depth of flavor. I used to be a guy that claimed that all coffee tasted the same, but really, once you have some good places to go to, you can tell the difference. Folks, this IS that place. The rest of the stuff is good too. I’ve sampled their pastries(the homemade Pop Tart is outstanding) and their other drinks like Americanos and Lattes, and they all stand up. The iced tea is also quite good, AND they give you a free refill if you’d like. I don’t know if I’m just super-special, or if that’s a standard thing, but it was appreciated. My one thing, and it’s a TINY thing, is that I’d love to get a flat white here too. None of that nonsense they serve at a chain you and I might know about, but a true New Zealand style flat white. Consider it less of a gripe, and more of a request, but I’d still like to see it. That being said, even if they never introduce one here at Local Coffee, I’ll still gladly go over and over again.

It’s a cute coffee place. Very bare, very minimalist in its offerings and I get it. Everyone has their own tastes for coffee. I personally did not like the latte I got here… the coffee itself has an odd taste about it. Almost like this syrupy grassiness that is probably from the milk. Service was great. Wait time wasn’t bad. The aesthetic of their interior is nice and I liked the way the space was divided up. They have an eye for looking good. I think they know it because their logo is also pretty eye catching too. I personally prefer Summer Moon myself being an Austinite. I’ve had Blue Bottle and liked that too. I think Cuvee has some great offerings.

Cute coffee shop, my only gripe is the price. Paid 9 dollars(with tip) for a cappuccino and pop tart. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a good espresso and the cappuccino was on point, but for the price, I could have had a full on lunch! Unilocal reviews convinced me to try the pop tart which I would not order again. It was way too sweet. Its pretty much a shortbread stuffed with strawberry jam and topped with a cream cheese icing and drenched in sprinkles… a little too much sugar for me at 8am. I ended up just wiping all the sprinkles and icing off and it was a tad better. This would be a good place to spend a few hours studying or meeting with a friend.

The place for coffee. Let’s get to it… Not the easiest place to spot, but well worth the visit. Indoor and outdoor seating. If you’re a coffee snob, get your coffee here. I challenged the employees with a question… «What’s your recommended coffee weight vs liquid ration?» And they were able to answer it without hesitation. They understand the extraction process and the origin of the bean. I appreciate a place that understands what they are selling. Chill vibe. Lounge sofas and tables available. Outlets that are easily accessible to charge up your devices. Good coffee and friendly staff that know their coffee. Totally recommend. Starbucks is but a memory.

Really fantastic coffee. I usually go with the cappuccino but really everything is good. It’s unfortunate that there isn’t a Local Coffee closer to me. I usually go to this location and the one by the Pearl. Besides the coffee, you must try the delicious baked goods from Bakery Lorraine that they sell in house. I’ve been here a couple of times to get some work done. The free WiFi is always a nice perk! It does get a bit crowded at times, but be patient a table usually opens up: D

The coffee this place puts out reminds me of the baristas in Seattle. It’s simply unreal. They are not trudging around like people coming in to collect a paycheck *cough Starbucks cough* and you can see they’re passionate about what they do. I can’t say this about any other place right now but I’ve NEVER had a bad cup of coffee here. I enjoy the casual décor, with the couple of couches they have placed near the register. It lends itself for the person to hang out on their day off or for the business person needing a pick-me-up while they put together their next presentation. It’s equally accommodating and wall outlets are mostly plentiful and easily accessible. My one small gripe is their metal chairs are uncomfortable after a while if you like to hangout and use their free WiFi. The customer service here seems to be good in a no-nonsense type of way. They won’t waste your time or make you wait an unordinary amount of time and they seem to expect the same of you. Luckily for me, I’m pretty decisive so this didn’t bother me. Quality is consistently high and they get a BIG bonus for having Bakery Lorraine macaroons here. If you’re in need of a great cup of joe, swing in and order something hot to show you why they’ve been growing by leaps and bounds. Top notch coffee, period.

I have been to every Local Coffee we have located in San Antonio and I won’t look back. Starbucks who? I love them all collectively and individually and any other way that is possible. They are quick and their product is amazing. My favorites are the affogato and americano. Every once in a while I will pick up a hibiscus tea but why break something that aint… wait…why fix something. Hmmm… I’m obviously in need of coffee now. #makinthathappen #rightnow If you’re a fan of local business and good coffee… you know what my vote is. Is you see me there, make sure to say hi ;)
