This comedy club was clean inside and we got really lucky with an amazing waitress. She was on top of our table. Checked in on us every 15 minutes or so. No problems with service at all. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is due to the LACKOFFOODCHOICES. There is no problems with the drink options, plenty to choose from. The menu for food was a joke. We would have easily spent a lot more money here if there were more finger foods and more choices. Heck, I would pay $ 3 for a pickle if that were an option. The comics were hilarious. We must have come on a good night

I read a lot of the reviews before we went, so I was a bit concerned about customer service. However, the service was GREAT, I didn’t have any problems. The amenities were fabulous and the performers were AWESOME! Bottled water was $ 2.09, domestic beer was $ 4.75. Although they did not add a tip automatically, they did add a «service charge» of about 8%. Not sure what that was for, but it was my only gripe, so I think we did alright. I would recommend this place to others!(we did the 8pm show btw)

Get your tickets on line. easier then picking them up at will call folks… NOW…have been there quite a few times, and the comedians are… not bad. The not ready for prime time ones are just ok in my opinion, and the headliners, have been pretty good, except for one of the Wayan brothers who was there recently. His act, left a LOT to be desired. The price of the drinks. are reasonable, the food… average. Eat before you show up. The décor… could be a LITTLE higher quality, but alas, you are there for the entertainment, not the furniture.

It’s sad that a bad waitress can ruin a good laugh. A comedy club is a comedy club. You are seated. You order your two drink minimum. You laugh. You pay your bill. You leave in a good mood. However, what you don’t want is to have to correct a bill DURING the show. My bill was higher than the math I did in my head. Looking at the bill in the dark, I noticed I got charged for 2 margaritas, not one and an 8% service charge. I pointed it out to our waitress, Tara, who proceeded to stand next to my table, pull up my bill on her IPad and explain very loudly that my $ 29.00 margarita was correct. Her«computer» doesn’t have a large button so she has to ring up two. Makes no sense to me. And $ 29 for one margarita-really. a mixed drink is $ 7 so not sure I can even guess how they get there. And apparently they charge an 8% service charge. After the show when I went to settle the bill, the manager said that was the facility fee, but he would be happy to remove it for me. We go out a lot and this place made my NO list. That’s hard to do people! Make sure you ask prices before you order and be prepared to ask for your 8% service charge to be waived. That fee is in addition to the one you pay when you buy your ticket. All I ask is that prices be fairly and openly shared. Is that to much to ask?

My first experience was great of course due to the host. The service although was crap I ordered a drink and she brings the incorrect one doesn’t bring the right one says the bartender ran out of ingredients? That was bs. I sipped on water the whole night and she still charged me the drink although I didn’t drink it, it was way too sweet no alcohol. Next time I’ll probably just order at bar, and the prices are ridic. High

Horrible experience my food came out cold and 10 min before the end of the show. Even though i ordered it at the beginning of the show. I let it go bc i knew it wasnt her fault bc it was busy and she was taking the orders manually… But then my gf and I are in line to meet Gabriel(Fluffy) after the show, and an employee of the comedy club yells out«If you buy a shirt you get to go to the front of the line» so me along with other people rush to the ATM to get money to buy a shirt. I buy a shirt only to be told by Gabriel that non of that merchandise is his and that we have to go to the back of the line. Basically saying since he is not making money off the shirts he cant help us… I felt like i was conned into buying a shirt… This is not the way to treat fans. I put up with the cold expensive food, but this crossed the line. Im sure Fluffy could care less if he loses two fans bc of this, but i just wanted everyone to know that, a real down to earth guy, would have cared to help, instead he only cared about money

When it comes to comedy in San Antonio, I was very pleased with what this club had to offer. The biggest draw has got to be the names! I saw Doug Benson during his 4:20 show but some of the other names that have or will perform here include Rhys Darby, Nikki Glaser, Godfrey, and Fluffy. I was not expecting this many nationally known comedians to frequent a club located in a shopping mall on the north side. Speaking of that shopping mall, the parking can be treacherous because of how many businesses the lot is shared with. The entrance was easy to find and the venue was enormous. It was definitely the biggest comedy room I have ever been in. This made for a weird non-intimate. yet non-arena feel that I can’t decide if it was good or bad. They were very efficient at getting people seated and the servers were very good at what they do. They were busy and efficient which was good with how many people there were and the two item minimum. The drinks don’t have prices and they have a very basic selection. The food was cheap and very basic as well. It was mostly snacking foods like chips and mozzarella sticks. Nothing to write home about, but I appreciate the minimum going toward food instead of just drinks. The comedy in this place was good. The volume caries and there really wasn’t a bad seat in the house. I was very impressed with the aesthetics and the acoustics in this club. Overall, this club was a very unique experience. I can’t say I would expect to see some big name comedians in a strip mall on the north side. For $ 20 a person and a two item minimum, the prices are reasonable for the names that this place brings in. The club was clean and the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great night of entertainment in San Antonio.

If u arrive at 7:35 or later, just go to the underground garage, plenty of great parking. The stairs are super close and quick vs elevator. Everyone arrived in a swarm at about :50. Seating is 1st come 1st serve. Anywhere in the house is a great seat! the high cocktails tables felt very intimate. The simple structural stripes compliment very well and the string lights are the perfect touch! If u r drinking, 2 or more people, beer bucket! Both the host and seating host were great. I’ll check the schedules weeks in advance to choose a more popular comedian, next time I come. If u live in San antonio, come!

It’s embarrassing to admit that I came here because I got a speeding ticket a few years back. What does that have anything to do with a comedy club you ask? I didn’t know either until I heard about the comedy traffic school from Unilocal friend Rudy R. That’s right! You could attend a one day defesnfive driving school here taught by a comedian to get your ticket dismissed. It’s the same price you pay for just about any traffic school. You get free pizza for lunch. AND you get a pair of free tix to a comedy club show! Man, that was unheard of and definitely sounded like a great deal to me! So I came, I LOL’d, and I got credit for my defensive driving class. Don’t think this is a joke though. It certainly is not. Both the instructor and us transportation outlaws were serious about re-learning the traffic laws and making Texas a better place to drive. Of course I had my speeding ticket dismissed and I got to enjoy a Friday night comedy show at the river city comedy club with a friend later. Score! I’d totally recommend coming here for traffic school. Better yet obey the traffic laws so you don’t get a ticket! Or… running away from the cops is another option, J/K!

VERY poorly run and the customer service is entirely absent! To begin with, I attempted to book a group of 14 on a week night. I was told that we could purchase ahead of time to save the $ 8.00 per ticket surcharge. We checked daily and the tickets never came in. We were called the week of the show and told that their system was down and that we would need to pay the surcharge(even in person) if we wanted to see the show. The management was rude and said«it’s not our fault the system isn’t working. If you want to see the show you’ll need to pay the money.» Against my better judgment I did so since the 13 other people were assuming we were still going. I wrote an email and still haven’t heard from the owner Colleen Barshop. We arrived at the venue 2 hours prior to the performance and requested the front tables. Of course we were seated towards the middle although we were first in line! Our waitress was very nice and took our order. The menu had five items so there is absolutely NOTHING to choose from but very weak drinks or incredibly expensive domestic beer. We all ordered food since we hadn’t eaten dinner. When the entire venue had eaten along with most of the table, I began asking about some of our food. The waitress stated that she had been in the back several times and couldn’t find our food. At the one hour mark(seriously one hour!) I went out to the front and found the General Manager(he has a British accent). I told him that the entire experience had been a fiasco so far and he couldn’t have cared less nor did he ask what had transpired so I chose not to go forward with details. I told him that it had been an hour and that some of us had not received our food and that we would like to get those meals comped and brought to us. Instead of an apology he said«absolutely not! I will not comp all of those meals but I will check to see where your food is.» You have to be serious? Is this really how a professional venue is run? Do your comedians know what is going on with the people who are paying to see them? How easy would it be to provide a little customer service? How far would it go if you put your customers first? Needless to say, we ended up with two of our meals comped but there was absolutely no apologies and no one has ever reached out to make things right. I suppose I’m not done yet and everyone needs to know what’s going on behind these closed doors. People come in to see their favorite comedians and spend money they work very hard for. They shouldn’t be treated as second rate citizens or disregarded. I’m hoping that an owner will reach out but, if not, maybe one of the comedians or news stations will get back to me and would like to know more.

First things first, the«staff» are really just thug bouncers. Instead of reminding my friend nicely there were no pictures the bouncer ripped my friends phone out of his hand and confronted him like they were about to fight. The food is horrible, I’m guessing they bought everything frozen at Costco or Sam’s, I was sick around 5am and was for the rest of the day so I’m sure the kitchen isn’t very sanitary. Drinks are a little pricy too. Went to see Piff the Magic Dragon and had the worst time I ever have at a comedy club.

For my last night in San Antonio we decided to go to this comedy club for a good laugh. The facility is enormous and has great seating all around. We caught Rick Gutierrez and friends which was amazing! We truly enjoyed ourselves and felt like we had a private show due to it being a weekday. Service could of been a bit better but other than that it was a great experience. I would love to catch another show with these comedians, hopefully they come to Seattle!

I think when it comes to shows I have seen every conceivable act known to(wo)man: art, music or literature. But when it comes to the comedic variety, alas I am a novice. Which is not to say that I don’t like a good laugh. However, when an opportunity to see a comedienne I truly admire at the LOL Comedy Club presented itself I was all in. I went to the first show at 8 p. m(on the basis of other Unilocal reviews) and the flow of people traffic wasn’t too bad. When you go into the main area a host asks how many are in your party and based on that, that is the manner in which you are seated. Surveying the room I was struck by how spacious it was, with tables for couples and bigger parties to match. The host seated me and my company right in front of the stage(Gulp!) and with an older couple who seemed as equally bewildered. Before the show even started waitresses and waiters worked their way through their assigned sections. They eventually came to our table and asked all parties concerned if we wanted to order drinks or some food. This is code word for: «We have an implied Two Drink Minimum,» so I acquiesed. My first critique is that the menu doesn’t give you any prices of their drinks. In order to get them you have to ask the staff upfront. I must add that most of them are pretty pricey. They mainly sell your typical drink fare like martinis, margaritas etc. For my money I don’t care for mixed drinks and I would rather listen to Michael Bolton’s Greatest Hits than to shell out ten dollars for a Bud Light or Dos Equis. So I settled on a Sprite and chips & queso and waited for the show to begin. As more patrons filed into the room it began to feel less intimate and more claustrophobic. The tables are closely put together, to optimize the room; which makes you feel trapped. Once the house lights went down a small stage with a solo mic was illuminated. At this point if you need to go to bathroom or get a drink you’re kinda screwed. The whole room is pitch black by then. This is my second critique. There needs to be some sort of lighting during the show that will guide you in the instance you decide to use the restroom or even to get another drink. But more importantly there needs to be some lighting so you can walk without toppling on another person. I might add that the service is great. The appetizer I had, was mediocre at best. In my opinion the drinks and food doesn’t add or subtract from your experience here. I think people mainly get sauced up in order to loosen up for the night, the jokes go down smoother that way. And here is where my 4 star rating comes from. I like that they ask patrons to turn off their cell phones during performances. Nothing is more annoying to me, other patrons as well as the comedians than to see people texting or taking selfies during the show. I like that they try to alleviate those distractions from the get go. I also like how they line up comedians, from the opening act to the the marquee performer. In my opinion the experience is no different than going to see a band play where a local, middle act precedes the big headliner. It is certainly an effective way to warm up the crowd. The little things such as the high price of drinks, the mediocre appetizers and the claustrophobic layout were certainly offset by the comedians that night. After all that’s why people come here in the first place, right? To laugh… I do like the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club. The service is excellent. And if you don’t mind sitting with a couple who might have that look of WTF, you can make a night of it. I wish they would spread the tables out a little bit more. I wish they had a better beer selection, preferably on tap. I would go again, but only if the act justifies the cost of buying drinks and food that particular night. ps– Being seated up front I was scared a comedian would mess with me and include me in their act. Lucky for me they railed on the guy seated in front of me the whole night. Better him than me! .

Came here for the first time to see one of my favorite comedians. Easy parking, great staff. We didn’t have any food but the shirley temple I had was bueno. We got there 10 – 15 minutes early and were seated in the back which was perfectly fine for us. If you have a larger group or want to sit closer, I’d suggest getting there 30 – 45 minutes early. Overall — great first experience!

Went there tonight to see Jo Koy, which was quite enjoyable, especially considering I had free comp tickets from my roommate! The show ran a bit long, I was suffering from laugh exhaustion near the end. Tickets would have been 22.50 if I had paid for them. Had three beers and a diet coke and tab came out to 19 bucks with tax. There was a very lively and large crowd on a Sunday night which was nice to see. All in all, a pretty fun time.

LOLCC is about average when compared to other comedy clubs. It’s not the best or the worst– right in the middle. That’s fine. I think many of the 4– and 5-star ratings are based on the comedians rather than the venue. The venue is big and clean. We’ve always gone to the 8 pm shows to avoid the crazy crowds. The two-drink minimum has never been mentioned, much less enforced at any of our visits here. The quality of the shows varies, depending on the artist. It’s a good place to go to let out some laughs.

I’m a regular, so it may seem weird for me to give this a 2* — all I can say is, the last visit was for amateur night and UG! Of the 6 — 10 «amateurs» we had the not-so pleasure of entertaining us, maybe 2 were funny, and maybe 1 didn’t mention porn, sexual inadequacy, or utter racism. I really lost my appetite and had to walk out when one filthy idiot used FGM as a basis for his jokes. The other experiences I have had at this location boil down to 1) headliners are pretty damn funny(Tony Rock was hilare!) 2) $ 40 for a bucket of Dos XX3) $$$ for food that I can microwave at home, but choose not to, and 4) Bullying from most of the bar tenders and servers. All in all, I usually leave here with a sick feeling in my stomach for one of several reasons. I’m not anxious to go back. I have a groupon(that they refused to honor for my hubby’s bday) and I won’t even give it away. TIP: Try it once — it’s just my opinion.

So you wanna laugh your ass off at a place with free parking, strong well drinks and that doesn’t smell like cigarettes? Then LOL is your place! I’ve enjoyed several shows here(most recently, the hilarious geekery of Brian Posehn) and I’ll give you the lowdown on how to do LOL right. First, go to the 8 o’clock show. Like Angela F. mentioned, the 10 o’clockers are packing the lobby when the 8 o’clockers are being let out and it looks like a clusterf*ck. Second, get there two hours before the show starts if you’re hungry, buy the tickets early and go eat at the Drafthouse. Drafthouse has much better food and while you’re there you can enjoy some craft beer because LOL has none. They start letting people in an hour before the show, be there when that happens and you might get a two-seater(assuming you’re going with a date/friend) and not have to chit-chat with strangers. You’re probably going to be seated up front and if you can’t take a joke(why the hell are you there??) then ask to be seated further back. Turn off your phones, keep chatter to a min, kick it high school-style with a pineapple-vodka-soda and enjoy the always funny MCs and featured comedians!

I loves me some LOL! It’s a great night out… definitely something different & fun to do. I’ve recently seen DL Hughley, Finesse Mitchell, & Charlie Murphy at LOL… the venue itself is nice & located to the left of the Alamo Drafthouse. Buy your tickets online & the pickup process is like will call — you form a line, tell them your name, & they give you tickets to enter. There’s a bar area in front with TVs. You walk into the comedy room, surrender your tickets & they seat you. If it’s not too full yet, you can request where you want to sit & they’ve never told us no. We always try to sit right up front or in the very back. Some of the tables are long & arranged to where you may have to turn around or look awkwardly to see the stage. Get there early! The room accommodates about 400 people so it’s large but the acoustics are good. There’s a two-drink minimum, but it doesn’t have to be alcohol. The wait staff is pretty good. I’ve never eaten there, but I heard the food isn’t very good… it’s decently priced, though. I noticed a burger & fries was $ 8.99. I’d prefer to eat beforehand at one of the great restaurants within a block of LOL, but you can get your eat on at LOL if you must. I especially like that the main MC/first opener is usually local to San Antonio or the area. Way to support local talent! We always try to get the 8pm show… I’ve noticed the logistics can get messy if you’re going to the 10pm show. They have a «cattle» line outside in front because there is NO way they can accommodate more than 400 people inside. So the 10pm-ers have to wait for the 8pm-ers to clear out before entering. I remember thinking it would suck to wait outside one time cause the temperatures were below 30 that evening… so, keep that in mind when booking a show!
