The grill chicken is great. Very friendly staff and clean. I will eat here again. The wait staff is very knowledgeable of the menu, being my first time he was great at walking me thought the menu.

I used to come her for the buffet all the time from 2007 – 2012. Today I decided to come back after almost a year. I ordered the lunch buffet to go. LUNCH for $ 14 with soda! I got a small to go foam container. Now I can understand the price for all you can eat, but to go? Way over priced. Thanks but no thanks. Staying away from now on. Chicken bits were dry. Rice was bland and fried yuca was over fried. I miss the La Mariginal from years ago.

My boyfriend and I stopped here just before I was departing for Arizona since it’s close to the airport. We went at an early«supper» time on a Sunday, so there weren’t many people seated. There weren’t any vegetarian options, so I decided to break-down and order seafood. Oops! Great food though! I ordered the breaded tilapia with plantains and I completely spaced on what he ordered. Oh well. We both enjoyed our food since our last Cubano stop was in Vegas years back.

I have never had Puerto Rican food, so I decided to go with my friend and try this place out. It was great. We went during lunch and it got super busy and felt the waitresses were overwhelmed. I tried the buffet which was fantastic and I will definitely go back again. Only 4 starts because it was only Tuesday and if they get that busy and over worked i can imagine a weekend.

Oh so good! My first experience with Puerto Rican Cuisine. There were three of us so we shared the following dishes: *Mofongo con carne frita– the mofongo was garlicky which was fine by me. The carne frita(fried pork) was nice and crispy. Great flavor too. *Jibarito– lechon with rice, tostones and pastel Puerto Ricena. I ended up ordering another plate to take home! *Chicken Pina Colada– chicken breast with cream sauce and mofongo. The chicken plate was my least favorite of the dishes we ordered. I did not particularly care for the sauce too much but my friend enjoyed it. I hear they have a buffet option for lunch. Sounds like I’m returning for seconds!!!

Pretty decent PR food people. And they honored a discount via Unilocal

Excellent food from PR. Pasteles are great. Mofongo tasty and nice crunchy, yet juicy carne frita. Highly recommended if you are in San Antonio.

Excellent food, friendly staff and a clean little restaurant. I’m Mexican, never been to Puerto Rico, so I’m not qualified to say if the food is the real thing, but man, is it good!!! The Lechon, the Cuban Sandwich, tostones, maduros, empanadas, you can’t go wrong with whatever you order. The place has a family feeling, like eating at an Aunt’s house, or with grandma, it just feels good! Excelente comida, servicio amigable, precios justos. I’m definitely coming back!

First Puerto Rican restaurant I’ve been to, great experience. I’d recommend going for lunch since they have a buffet, get to try a little bit of everything.

Had a chance to go back to this place to give it another whirl after a bad customer service issue. This time was very wonderful. The waitress was timely and courteous. As always, the food was very good. I highly recommend the Cubano. There’s a buffet. It was good. I really wanted to try the grilled chicken since it looked marvelous. But they ran out. They said to get there early since this happens often. Boo. Will do!

I’m giving 3 star for the reason the food was good and the live music was amazing. But having to wait for a server to come to my table after I was out of drink and for other stuff was awful. Then the check out was the same way. Worst service ever. For be my first time it was the worst. And they weren’t that busy at all. Sorry but that’s the truth. Do was amazing and the live music was awesome but the service was awful.

Taste just like old San Juan, just need the salty beach air to make it perfect. Buffet is nice but skip it for the mofongo!

I had the Pork Chop plate and I have to say that this is the closest thing to authentic Puerto Rican food short of hopping on a plane. AMAZING!!!

My go to place when I’m craving Puerto Rican food. There isn’t a whole lot to choose from in SA when it comes to Puerto Rican food, but I will say though that La Marginal does fulfill that little void in my heart. Once in a while, they’ll come out with a groupon, & it’s worth getting because the food is really good, always tasty and it’s nice to try something new. They have a live band on the weekend & that’s always fun. I usually order the chuleta plate: chuletas, arroz con gandules & maduros. That’s my go to dinner plate. This time, since we went in for lunch, I decided to order what my husband always orders and went with the Cuban sandwhich. Oh my! Yes, it was SO good!!! Ordered mine with the tostones, crispy, but soft in the middle. Yum! Make sure you ask for their piqué sauce(it’s this red salsa type of sauce, not spicy, but filled with flavor) and ask for their garlic sauce too. I can’t even explain what this garlic sauce will do to your tastebuds, but get it! Your tastebuds will thank you! & of course, we start off with the fries yuca, because it’s fried and its yuca. You just can’t go wrong with that– again ask for the two sauces! ^

Overall, the food tastes good; however, it can be a little bit better. I loved the«mofongo»(smashed green plantain with garlic and pork rinds), the fried pork, and their appetizer sampler. The rice was not so great as it was too sticky. The beans were ok. The problem I have seen at this venue is service. Although the staff is friendly, professional, and very courteous, more attention to detail is required. We were given garlic bread while we waited; however, it was cold and did not taste great. We brought the issue to the waitress and it was corrected in a few minutes. I did also notice, either the kitchen forget the orders or the waiters submit incomplete orders to the kitchen. The«mofongo» I ordered did not arrive with the food. It came out about 8 minutes later. I visited this venue months ago and had the same issue.

4 stars for the consistently awesome food. The mofongo is something everyone needs to try at least once. You get the option of plantain or yuca as the smashed starch portion mixed with the lovely garlic sauce and chicharon. Either works well, but the option that you get of fried pork or whatever other meats/seafood is a hands down, no contest. FRIEDPORK all the way! It’s so tasty and sexy, make sure to add lots of the garlic sauce to the pork and experience heaven. I would also suggest to get the fried yuca and maduros as an appetizer. Yummy. The last lacking star is for the waitstaff who are pretty non-existent and take their sweet ass time. This is not the place to go if you’re on a timeline. I suggest ordering all of your food and then immediately asking for the check as well, maybe that will speed things up a bit when it comes time to check out.
