I went to this restaurant because of their menudo and I was not disappointed a second time. The bowl of menus is huge for the price and packed with flavor it was delicious, but that’s where the flavor and the good food ended. My wife ordered an al pastor gordita and a carne guisada taco. The gordita tasted like nothing but grease and the meat was greasy bland. The carne guisada seemed as if seasoning was attempted with chili powder but missed the mark and tasted more like flour. My mother had a barbacoa taco and asked if it was all meat. The server stated it was but would have the cook squueze it extra. The barbacoa was not all meat, and for you south Texans you know what that means, it had all the grease of the entire boiled head so it was super fatty and greasy and bland. The sweet Tea was good and the service was courteous. I may give it another try for other foods but if not at least I know the menudo is tasty!

The carne guisada is good but the rice isn’t that great nor are the tortillas or the lemonade. The price isn’t bad for what you’re getting though. But I’ve had better. I ordered a beef fajita gordita and asked the waitress if it was served plain. When she brought it to my table I noticed it had cheese so I sent it back. She returned it sans cheese but I still didn’t like it though.

Very good food, very low price. San Antonio has a lot of tex-mex, light on the mex. This is good Mexican. I’d definitely eat here again.

This place is all about the food. I love English Cut beef ribs that are grilled. These people actually make them like I make them on the barbecue grill and they make them every day. They are Carne Asada in all its glory. I like to ask for their very good corn tortillas tostaditas. They are just right when they are slightly toasted and the green salsa, I don’t know what’s it in it, is very different than all the run-of-the-mill taquerias I’ve been too. Their chorizo tastes like Mexico, not like Wisconsin. They’re frijoles a la charra have big chunks of bacon. They’re all about the food. Don’t expect fancy decorations. The ambience isn’t great, lots working men on their way to work or on break but I can lost in there and feel like I’m there alone. It is quite inexpensive and the waitstaff is solid and attentive.
