I’ve used King’s Palace for the past 6 years for delivery and they’ve always satisfied! The food isn’t exactly gourmet but they have never screwed up my order. The food is a little better than the food court, and you get huge portions, enough for lunch the next day. I can’t even complain because there are no better Chinese joints around the downtown area. My only reason it’s not a 5 star review is because their dining room could use an upgrade. My favorites: Egg drop soup, general tso — extra spicy.

Came to this place many times with no problems. Although I don’t eat the egg roll because it taste like it’s always cooked in old grease. Other then that it’s pretty good.

Food is decently good and cheap, we ate there but I will be using takeout for the future; the service was good but place is a bit grungy inside. The drink selection is limited to standard popular sodas that are canned. They have a good variety of vegetarian dishes.

I called to place an order for delivery. The lady said she would deliver, put me on hold, came back and said they couldn’t deliver then hung up on me. I still wanted to place an order! So we drove down there and placed our order. The place was empty. The food came out fast, we waited for about 5 minutes. I got the Chinese chicken, egg drop sup, fried rice, and an eggroll. The soup was probably the nasty one I have ever had. The fried was dry and plain. The chicken was very hard and not great. The eggroll was good. They give you tons of food and it was cheap. Not bad for the price, but id rather go somewhere else.

They only have one size of lo mein, which is large, but it comes to almost $ 9 after tax. When I got home and opened the container, I was greeted with what looked like Chinese fettucini. Long, pale, flat noodles instead of the traditional lo mein noodles. The taste was OK but the texture was not. For $ 9 I would expect more beef(or whatever protein you choose) and vegetables. Basically I could have just boiled some pasta at home, tossed it in soy sauce then added a miniscule amount of carrot, snow peas and protein and saved myself $ 5.

Decent place. When I walked in I was a bit underwhelmed. The restaurant itself is too dark and almost gives off a depressing vibe. The two large tanks that make up a half wall in the dining area are not well kept. The tank had no light, no décor, and an upside down swimming fish(clearly in distress & these are LARGE fat pink fish so its very noticeable). There was only one other man eating when we walked in but a load of to-go orders on the counter. I think that’s what most people do since they deliver around that area. The menu was pretty vast and I got excited when I saw they had sea cucumber. As usual when I try to eat this cucumber of the sea I’m always told they do not have it. It’s obviously not a popular dish with the locals here I’m sure but if it’s on the menu I expect for it to be in stock. I ordered the Bird’s Nest Seafood combo because that was recommended to me by the server. It wasn’t bad at all. The veggies were fresh and crisp only thing is I am not a fan of edible bowls. This bowl was made out of deep fried noodles and while it looked nice the whole crunchy noodles paired with the soggy noodles doesn’t appeal to me. I knew it was going to be served that way before I ordered so it didn’t bother me. Their hot and sour soup was good as well. This place isn’t going to blow your mind but for a quick satisfying bite I think its perfect if you can get past how dark it is inside.

Not a bad little place for lunch. They do get fairly busy so get there early and you’ll be in and out fairly quick The food was average and typical of a small Chinese restaurant. Neither of our meals really wowed us, just food. The portions were large though. But in the case of lunch I think that’s a bad thing. I could barely finish half of what was given to me. I feel like lunch can meals should be a little more conservative on the portions so you can actually finish enjoying what you’ve eaten. Service was a little slow the day we were there. Seemed like they were short staffed. Not a bad experience, but it’s not going to be a place that jumps to mind when I’m thinking of places to go for lunch.

I’ve been back to this place at least a dozen times in the past few months. The owners appreciate my business and I love the food. The parking lot fills up during the lunch rush so I like to get there early. I asked the waiter for suggestions and have been recommended some great dishes. Be open to trying new things and you won’t be sorry. Love this place!

I can’t decide what I like more, King’s Palace going down or King’s Palace coming up. We ordered two general tso’s chicken dinners and within 20 minutes of consuming half of it(the portions are huge, but let’s ask ourselves this; IS that a good thing?) we were taking turns VOMITING, which is sort of romantic, but in a masochistic kind of way. Anyways, it’s 5:40 am right now and I can’t sleep because I feel nauseous and queasy. I’ll be taking the remaining food back when they open today to bitch, get silently judged and ask for my money back! Wish me luck guys! And Godspeed if you decide to spend your time and money there!

King’s Palace is exactly what it needs to be. Cheap americanized Chinese food with bountiful portions. The location is in a decent area and the staff is friendly. They do offer authentic Chinese, food some of it is on the menu but there is also a separate Chinese menu. I really enjoy the beef hefen, cheng tu chicken, and their pork intestines with whatever that pickled vegetable is.

Horrible we ordered food to go for lunch it didn’t take long at all for them to bring it out.(Too fast). Drove back to work Which is about 5mins away. All the food was cold… Called to complain and the lady who answered Said«well if you got it delivery it ‘ll be a little cold«which I didn’t…Said I could bring it back but since I ate some of the food it was already too late.

Sometimes we find bugs in our food. But at least it’s a whole one and not a half of one. We stop ordering once we find one. Then time passes and we order again, the dumplings are good they come fried or steamed and the egg drop is good. The rest of the food is pretty average.

Sometimes, I wonder whether a restaurant can be really really bad, and the owners know it but just don’t care. Of course such a restaurant can exist; it’s just a matter of whether the restaurant I’m reviewing fits that description. Well, ordering from this place made me have the same thought again. Standards need to be enforced here, or… something. I can’t imagine why anybody would want to order from a place like this. There are menus for this restaurant lying everywhere at Fort Sam Houston. I wanted to place an order here and try something from their menu at least once before leaving. I got a King’s flower basket and house special fried rice. It took over an hour for the driver to arrive. One whole hour. Why, I don’t know. I thought that maybe the location was all the way across town, but upon searching for the place on Google Maps, I found that they would only have to drive about a mile east to reach me. The King’s flower basket was just a bunch of scallops, shrimp, chicken, pork, and vegetables tossed together and swimming in a mysterious salty brown sauce. Nothing more than the sum of its parts. Apparently, the chef decided that all these items would go well together in one mishmash dish. The order did come with the option of including some rice, presumably to add some actual substance to the dish. For that, I got the house special fried rice. It came in a tiny take-out box and was just your generic, greasy Americanized Chinese food that possibly came out of a microwave. I didn’t mix it into the main dish because I had no intention of consuming all that nasty brown sauce. The total for this order came to $ 18.55 before tip. That’s for just one person, and considering the quality and time the delivery took, is completely ridiculous. I’m not giving them one star because the food was still quite hot by the time it got to me, and the portions were decent(though certainly not for the fried rice). It also wasn’t terrible, but by no means was it good. Sure, pizza may not be the most nutritionally balanced meal to order by phone, but when it comes down to a choice between pizza and King’s Palace, it’s hard to give King’s Palace a chance.

It’s not often that I give a 1 star review. Even less frequently that I wish I could give LESS than 1 star. This is one of those rare times. I don’t want to completely trash any business, so let’s focus on what they did RIGHT first: My order was correct. So often on to go orders, you get something that’s a far cry from what you actually ordered. Not this time. The guy at the to go counter was solicitous and dare I say friendly. Service was efficient, given the lunch rush. We showed up at 1215, so a packed restaurant was to be expected. Portions were quite large. For some people, I guess this is a plus. I’m not really a «more is more» type with portions, though. Could have EASILY fed 2 big appetites. The price was definitely low. Just remember that you get what you pay for. Now, I have to address the negatives. After all, this is a rare 1 star review for me. The food tasted TERRIBLE. I’m not a huge fan of the Americanized Chinese in the first place, but I can get down with it from time to time. This, however, couldn’t even rise to those standards. My hot and sour soup tasted more like post-nasal drip with some egg strands mixed in. FOUL. There was no hot, no sour, just unappetizing. The egg roll was passable, but really, how can you mess that up? My entrée tasted like bland, week-old chicken. And I ordered pork. How does that happen? When I opened the bag, I noticed that there was some substance soaking through the paper bag. The food had spilled ALL over the place on the walk from the pick up counter to the car, and made a huge mess, coating my hands(and pants) with a sticky, greasy sauce. Seriously, it’s not like I did cartwheels with the bag in my hands on the 20 foot walk. That’s not even reasonable. The kicker? Within an hour of eating the food here, 2 of the 3 people that did were projectile vomiting. Guess our third must have had an iron stomach. I’ve eaten at a lot of dicey places and this is the first that I can remember actually making me physically ill. Save your money, time, and gag reflex. A frozen fried rice tv dinner would be a better option.
