You get two scoops of ice cream! Okay I know it’s gelato but I still think of it as ice cream! It was very good. I had the Carmel salted caramel and chocolate it was very nice on a hot day!

Excellent — I had the coffee and mint. Both were outstanding. My wife had the pistachio which was bleh! I didn’t care for the taste but maybe I just don’t like pistachio? Yuck! Great that they give you free tastes which prevented me from ordering cookies and cream. I’ve had better. We will be back for more. The cones were great.

Gelato was delicious. I was given an opportunity to sample a few before I made my selection. The pizza was also very good. Large thin crusted pizza slices!

As far as places to eat right by the Alamo I feel like the area is lacking a bit until you get a few blocks away or closer to the Riverwalk. I was looking for a bite to eat after my tour of the Alamo and noticed that everything close was entertainment type stuff. I searched on my Unilocal app and ended up finding Francesco’s Gelato on Alamo Plaza. It is kinda hidden between all the family entertainment extravaganza that is going on there. It’s a small place with a variety of stuff inside. If you want a coffee, tea, pizza or gelato then this is your place! They also have souvenirs galore! I had a slice of pizza, which was decent. It was pepperoni and thin crust, nothing fancy. I also had some gelato. You get 2 scoops and I got mine in a cone. It was hard deciding what flavors to go with because there were a bunch that looked tasty. I did a scoop of lemon and mexican vanilla. It was delicious! The lemon was probably my favorite and I would get it again! They have seating at the front of the store and towards the back as well — fyi. If you are looking for a good little spot among the touristy craziness on Alamo Plaza I would stop in Francesco’s for a refreshment!

Best frappé I’ve ever had. Muffins are really good too. This small resturant/store has very good value compared to most of downtown. Would strongly recommend coming here.

A nice gelato store right across the alley from the Alamo! They offer a good variety of gelatos, from coffee to peanut butter and everything in between. This place used to be a steak house back in the day, and they haven’t changed it too much from the original layout. There’s an old timey pressed tin ceiling, and retro ice cream parlor chairs. My favorite thing about this place is that they blast the A/C. This can certainly be appreciated during San Antonio’s hot, hot summers! They have little fans around that blast the cold air. I really appreciate them trying to keep you cool as soon as you walk in the door. They sell a lot of coffee stuff, but I didn’t see any kind of espresso machines or anything. If you’re looking for San Antonio coffee memorabilia, this is your spot. They have a large selection of snappy t-shirts and signs that proclaim a love of coffee and caffeine. They also sell Alamo themed toys. Need a cork gun or an indian headdress? They got you covered. The service was rushed, but they did manage to get everyone served in a fast manner. The tables were clean, and they have a restroom for customers only.

I walked in and kind of hung out until I was greeted. Gelato tasted decent. I ordered pistachio one scoop in a cone, because that’s my default flavor. I asked for a sample of cheesecake, and the lady with the weathered face measily scraped the gelato with the sample spoon, and I could not even tasted enough to decide if I wanted it or not. I was the first person in the store, but when it came time for me to pay a long line formed in front of me. Not only was this very inconvenient, it didn’t make any sense to me. I could have paid the girl who scooped me my ice cream, but I was told to go to another person to be rung up. That’s how I became the last person to be helped, instead of the first person to finish, even though I was the first person in the store and the first person to decide what I wanted. It tasted OK, not spectacular and not worth the price I paid. $ 6.49 for one scoop come? You be the judge.

I went to a shop 3 doors down from this place and received a coupon for $ 1 off an ice cream cone. Why not? It was 11am and I am eating ice cream. Best time ever for it. I got the mint chocolate chip and my boyfriend got the cookies and cream. It was very rich and flavorful. He also got a snow cone. That was good as well. I loved the two workers there. They were sweet and very helpful. Offered us samples. The dining area was kept very clean, as well as the counters where you pay and such. They had a great variety of plush animals for kids and a great selection of drinks. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Great Ice Cream!(:

Stop by after doing a family get together on the riverwalk. On our way to our car we came across this place just a block away from the Alamo. Came in and the place was a bit cramped but we were able to make it to the register next to the double deck pizza oven to place our order. My gf and I shared a supreme pizza and a coke which surprised me on how great it was. My gf also got a 12oz hot chocolate that was delicious. I will Definitely be coming back!

I was walking by this store thinking it was a gift shop. My friends notice that they had coffee. We entered and saw the amazing freezer display of fresh made gelatos. We were offered a sample and we were in love at first bite. I had the coffee and oreo gelato. Both were delishhhhhh… This place is a hidden gem. They offer gelato, fresh hand made pizzas, and a café all in one. It is hidden by a window full of stuff animals. I think they should move the gelato closer to the window. The seats in the back are nice. I never knew this place was here. The employees are wonderful and nice. I would come back with my husband and kids so they can taste some great gelato. Maybe have a cup of coffee or a slice of pizza. It’s like a little Italian café. Thanks. 1 star for food 1 star for wonderful employees 1 star for clean facilities 1 star overall experience I usually give a star for the bathroom but I didn’t visit the bathroom so I couldn’t rate that.

Cheap fast coffee. The price is right and quality is good. Atmosphere is touristy, like an airport news stand, not hip or divey at all. But I needed a place to work on a presentation so it is perfect.

Stopped in to Francesco’s after reading the other glowing reviews on Unilocal.Everything looked great; the gelato, the build your own sandwiches, the creative coffee drinks. I was hoping to get a croissant sandwich, but they ran out just before I could order. No big deal, there were other great items I could have ordered. There were only two people sitting in the restaurant and one gentleman had just ordered. Still, the two workers were so busy doing other things behind the counter for almost ten minutes, that we never even got a chance to order. We decided to leave. Unfortunately, we are not from the area, so we will not likely return. I wish that we could because the food looked great. Only reason I could give it 3 stars.

While walking to the Alamo, we came across Francesco’s Gelato and stopped by for cold drinks. They have a good drink selection with several flavors of frappuccinos and a fairly decent selection of gelatos to choose from. We brought gelatos, hazelnut mocha and regular mocha(cold drinks). Delicious! Just what we needed in the blazing heat in San Antonio during the summer months. There are chairs and tables inside the shop for those who want to sit and enjoy their drinks. The store also carries kids’ toys for sale. Highly recommend stopping by this café shop while in the Alamo neighborhood.

Grabbed a quick pizza and salad. Thin crust was ok. Ordered a café macchiato and was pleasantly surprised! They also have Italian ice cream which I did not indulge in but it looked very tasty ! Employee eating pizza behind the counter in food prep area. Don’t know if that’s a good sign or a health department violation.

I went to this great shop last year and had a wonderful experience, as well as a great latte. Another conference, another chance to talk with the manager and son of the owner. Great coffee just across the street from the Alamo and the Menger Hotel. Definitely stop in to say ‘Hi’, and get a drink and a gelato on a hot San Antonio day! Daniel

This little place was a great find. Their gelato is made fresh every day and quite tasty, but all that does is lure you(quite effectively) inside. They’ve got loads more to offer! I had an amazing frappachino there, and my boyfriend and I each enjoyed a fabulous morning croissant for breakfast there on a San Antonio visit a week ago. They’ll customize it any way you like. I did the standard sausage, egg, and cheese. My boyfriend did likewise and added pepperoni!(Of all things — I know) No additional charge, just a flat fee. They will also sell bottled water for $ 1! That’s a steal around that area. It’s located right across from the Alamo and Rivercenter Mall, so it’s extremely convenient. The people were always friendly. They also have a great collection of unusual sodas if you’re looking for something different. They’ve also got pizza and smoothies and muffins and who knows what else. Really, you don’t want to miss out on this unique little treasure.

We stopped in here because of the name, but soon found that they are much more than just delicious gelato! The pizza looked and smelled great too, too bad we had already eaten. They also have souvenirs and other items since it’s in the heart of touristville. I was very pleased with the flavor and creaminess of the gelato that I ordered. I would highly recommend this place if you are in the area and want to enjoy a slice of pizza and or scoop(s) of gelato!
