Scheduled an appointment a week ago, the lady who was suppose to do my hair did not show up today due to feeling sick. I totally understand. Here’s the issue: my fault I showed up 10 minutes after my appointment, but when u walked in the young lady up front said, «sorry, your stylist is out sick. I was going to take you but since u r late, I marked u as cancelled and have another client in 30 mins. Sorry.» Question? Why didn’t I get a phone call asking me if I wanted ANOTHER stylist to do MY hair? Why didn’t someone tell me my stylist wasn’t coming in? Why would you ONLYSETASIDE30 mins for a cut, layers, retouch highlight & straightening??? Are u kidding me? Result: I walked out and will never go there again!

I moved here from NJ and am very particular about my hair. I am extremely satisfied and am now a regular customer! My hair looks fantastic! I’ve had it colored, highlighted, and cut and will continue to be a customer.

If you notice, a lot of the reviews below are from like two years ago. I went here really expecting high-quality service and a nice, relaxing atmosphere. I was pretty disappointed. The actual salon really isn’t bad at all. It’s clean and cute. I think most of my frustration was that nobody talked to me. Not the person washing my hair… not the person cutting my hair… I felt like I wasn’t welcomed. I felt really uncomfortable. I finally got the stylist to say a few words, but even then it was an unfriendly and uncomfortable conversation. The hair cut itself was okay — I thought for the small amount of cutting I had done that it was priced a little high, but maybe that’s because I also felt so uncomfortable the whole time. Unfortunately I definitely won’t be going back.

Ran in one day to get my tween’s eyebrows waxed because I figured if I paid more, it’d be better service. I was right. They took such time and care to make her still look like a child but clean up the eyebrows a bit. I would return. Maybe try a haircut…

Let me start by saying I’m a licensed manicurist from another state and I used to be a receptionist for a high-end salon with anywhere from 10 – 14 sought after stylists. I’m kinda picky! What a charming, well thought out salon. The décor is lovely; warm and elegant just like the owner. Otillia knows her color! She’s excellent at weighing all the variables that make color application either a complete success or utter failure. I’ve pretty much given her free reign with my cuts as I am currently growing my hair out; the goal being to save length, but keep the ends clean. She’s always given me something that works perfectly for my face, my hair type and my personality. I trust her to do her thing. It’s easy when a stylist is this talented for them to become arrogant and no longer listen to or hear their clients. Otillia is not only talented, but has a genuine heart for her client’s happiness. She’s fun and gracious and hard working. She’s not just«playing beauty parlor» like so many stylists I’ve met through the years. She’s the real deal! They also have a lovely room for facials and massage. Sandra gave me an incredible, 90 minute deep tissue massage that made me feel so energized. She also doesn’t cut corners or go through the motions. Ive had trouble turning my head for over a year now. By the end of my session I was turning my head with ease and pain free. This is a salon that offers spa treatments, so there is crossover noise as you’re getting your facial or massage, but it’s not bad at all. I’m pretty good, however, at focusing and ignoring random noises. I was also a wee bit chilled at times during my massage, but I’m sure if I would have mentioned this, Sandra would have gotten another blanket for me. They’re very accommodating because they care. Lastly, but importantly, the salon is clean and they appear to take disinfection and sanitation seriously. I happen to know there is considerable overhead to maintaining a properly disinfected and sanitized salon that is safe and pleasant for your Clients. Many salons only pretend to disinfect and sanitize properly, putting on a show out front while the back end looks like death. Otillia’s integrity is seen through and through. As for pricing, I happen to think the salon pricing is moderate for the quality of services received.

This is not your average salon for this part of San Antonio. I went to about 5 places before Fonsi opened and was miserable with how they did my hair. I’m a white girl with fine hair, and every place I went to fried the hell out of my hair and/or jacked up my cut and color. Otillia, the owner, is amazing. She listens to what you want and will offer advice on what she thinks will or won’t work. She also has amazing crazy colors. I got purple streaks in my hair, and got compliments for months on the color and how well it was done. With all that being said, you are going to pay for the quality of work, and it is totally worth it! Also, this is not a quick place, as quality takes time, so look to spend a couple of hours(4) there for highlights and cut. But with the friendly staff and great atmosphere, you hardly even notice.

So I am new to the area and I Unilocaled hair salons and this one had the best reviews. I have very straight hair. It doesn’t do much. I asked for a trim and all over color. Fairly simple. Now my hair did turn out great, something I will never be able to recreate, but very nice. I am giving this review 4stars because of what I paid. I’m going to remind you, one color(dark brown) and a trim. I paid $ 150.00! My jaw hit the ground. The salon was nice, but I was greeted by a guy who just seemed annoyed to be there and was rude. I sat in a chair that faced the storage corner and then had to move to a different chair for my cut and the guy was sweeping my hair while my hair was still being cut. They did get me in quickly but there was no one in the salon and everyone who called they kept saying they were booked. I think I will continue my hunt for a salon.

After reading the reviews on Unilocal,I decided to try this place for two reasons: 1) it’s less that 2 miles from my house … and 2) It had good reviews. I don’t regret it. Yes it’s expensive, but so so worth it! I was greeted by a young girl who was nothing but friendly and helpful. I didn’t wait more than 15 minutes for my appointment. I received an incredible head massage during my shampoo. The owner, Otilia(call me Tilly), helped me with exactly what I wanted for my hair and also took time out to give me an eyebrow wax without an appointment. I love the fact that I was so pampered and only spend approximately $ 100 on a cut, style and wax with all the extras included. Tilly was also very friendly and open to what I wanted(tried something new because I needed a change) I am definitely going here for my hair needs from now on!

This place is close to my house so 1 pt right there, Otilia the owner is hilarious whenever I come in 2 pts there and Anna(my go to stylist) always helps me pick out the right color, cut and makes for fun conversation 3 pts! woot woot! I used to come all the time for $ 25 deep conditioner treatments, hair dye, and highlights but funds have gotten low and with the length my hair is which is a bit past my shoulers It usually takes me 5 hours and about $ 200 – 300 to get it all taken care of. The last time I was there I even got an eyelash perm($ 35) yum! and it’s awesome makes the eyes pop and this time around its lasting about 1 ½ months and counting, first go around it lasted 3 months. One issue was that some of the solution got to the edge of my eye and it burned so make sure to have your eyes tapped down all around and don’t move. I go here for the hair not the nails. The pedi/manis are ok but the hair is where they shine and i love it. They also do a 10% off military discount so for my fellow military peoples out there why not take advantage of that. The décor is beautiful, clean and elegant. They also offer other services like make up, bridals, quinee prep, etc… just check it out. They take walk ins but are usually the busiest on saturdays so appointment check yo self on that day. Location: its kind of hidden behind the jack and the crack building but its next to the new NEMO’s seafood place in Madison’s Plaza. Other than that i love this place. it’s been good to me for over 3 years.
