We’ve been fans of Chuy’s for a while but I gotta say, the best one is the 281location. We got the fajitas for 2. The meat, beans, rice, guac and tortillas. The beef fajitas here(151) were a bit on the tough side for me. Otherwise it was ok.

Waited ten minutes for service and wound up going across 151 to WB. Sad. Someone who was«not our server» dropped off some chips and we waited ten minutes for no one to come by our table. The worst Chuy’s experience ever. On my ban list now. Stay away during lunch time. They didn’t manage it very well.

Chips and salsa were good, approaching great in my book. Food was typical chain mexican food meh. Service at lunch was slow. Really had to wait a long time for the check. If service was better and food was slightly above meh, might have been a 3

Although they don’t serve«authentic» Mexican food, it’s certainly good! The chips are as light as air and are served with a tasty pico de gallo. I had the Chili Relleno and Enchilada combination with green chili rice and charro beans. The chili Relleno(Anaheim chili instead of the traditional poblano chili) was served coated with a crispy topping(Panko maybe?) instead of the standard egg batter topping… and it was actually tasty! The rice was surprisingly spicy and tingled my tongue with each bite. Hubby had the chicken tamales with boom boom sauce… a flavorful, cheesy, spicy sauce. He enjoyed it, but he didn’t take his lactose enzyme and paid the price, so if you’re lactose intolerant and thinking about this dish, beware! All in all, it was a decent meal and we will try it again!

good thing they have free chips and good salsa cause these ain’t real authentic text me enchiladas… seems to me like they have a gringo(no offense) in the back making these so, called enchiladas. your better off going to the small mexican restuarants to get better enchiladas. but hey the chips and salsa are off the chain good. oh and the beers are cold. lol

The food is not great. I’m not a fan of their version of Tex Mex Food. The sauce taste like it comes from a can and the chicken enchiladas are dry. They do have good specials but it’s only in the bar for the nachos and it’s crowded. The drinks in the bar is average. Not my favorite– but it will do. The decorations are very cool– which I think really brings people back. The lights and colors makes it «Mexican themed» and fun. The service is a hit or mis. When the service is good– it’s amazing. When it’s bad– it makes me not want to return ever again. I’ve made it a point to ask for their best server the have that night– I don’t care if I have to wait to be seated in their section. I don’t want to take any chances with bad service. I honestly come here only for birthdays or occasions where it’s their turn to pick dinner. Not my favorite Tex next place– but not my least favorite either.

Wow, the food was very nice. The beef fajitas were tasty and the tortillas were cooked properly. The retried beans had a very nice flavor. Our server, Alex was very good. He was nice and very helpful in answering our questions. I enjoyed the Tex mex food here. Check this place out, it’s worth the visit.

Bottom Line: Great atmosphere, tasty food and friendly service. I found Chuy’s thanks to Unilocal and it certainly lived up to its four star rating. I went for lunch on a holiday weekday and enjoyed the slower pace of the restaurant at that time. Since it wasn’t too busy, I really got a chance to check out the fun décor including Spanish tiles and gaudy chandeliers. It was delightful. Equally as energetic as the décor was my super friendly waitress Nicole. Even though she was in a walking cast that didn’t prevent her from providing efficient and cheerful service. Like almost all Mexican restaurants, the meal started with chips and salsa. The chips were super thin which I love and the salsa had a little kick but wasn’t too spicy. Then It was time for my tacos and enchiladas which again were very good not to mention very reasonably priced. I closed out my great experience at Chuy’s with a to-go cup of Diet Coke and quick look at the tortilla machine.

It is my second time here on 9÷21÷15, it is was about 1:06. There was no wait, We were seated right away. We ate out side .It was cool because we just came from biking. I still enjoyed how colorful and creative the décor is. Every room had its own unique style. The womens restroom were very clean. Our Waitress Breanna was AWESOME and CUSTOMERSERVICE. She checked on us often. We loved the chips and salsa. I had the flauta plate and a Margarita. My plate was delicious. The ONLY thing I didn’t like was the BEANS. Yuck! They need to learn how to make mexican refried beans.

Price is Great. Service is efficient. Food came out hot and fast. FLAVORFORDAYS. It’s a different kind of mexican food in my opinion compared to all the Jaliscos here. My 4th time here and no problems thus far. Very consistent. Love this place.

My boyfriend and I went to Chuy’s for dinner this past Friday. We just missed happy hour so no nacho car for us :(but I’m happy to report that dinner was AWESOME! I ordered grilled shrimp tacos with the green chile rice and charro beans. My boyfriend had the beef fajitas. Our server Steven was the only waiter on the patio but he was great and made sure that we had everything we needed. The food came out hot and flavorful. The chips and salsa here are so fresh and I love the creamy jalapeño sauce that they put on the shrimp tacos! I saw a sign on the wall in the bar area that says if you bring in a framed photo of your pet that you get a free appetizer! Totally doing this for next time! Thanks Chuy’s!!!

I’m very hard to please when it comes to Mexican food and having lived all over the world I realize that Mexican food is a very regional cuisine. I have not found many Texas style Mexican restaurant’s worthy of returning to but I can say my experience at Chuy’s last night definitely left a good taste in my mouth for Tex-Mex. I ordered 4 kids meals and 2 adult entrées. The kids meals were all under five bucks. This was including the entrée, drink, and an ice cream push pop for dessert. Two of my children ordered quesadilla’s with macaroni as a side and they absolutely LOVE the macaroni. The quesadilla was a good size and loaded down with cheese simply oozing out of the tortilla mmmmm. My other two kiddos orders quesadilla and fries and a burger and fries. The burger was kind of small about the size of a Jr. Bacon cheeseburger from Wendy’s but she seemed to love it and didn’t even finish it all because the kids all loaded up on chips before. About these tortilla chips yowzers! They were oh so good. We literally ate six baskets. They are thin as air, warm, fresh, lightly salted, and oh so crisp. The salsa is very hot in my opinion but good if you like spicy stuff. On to the grown up food, my husband ordered the Elvis and Priscilla and I ordered the stacked chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. My plate was huge especially being that I paid under 9 bucks for the meal. The dish had huge chunks of white meat chicken breast seasoned to perfection and tons of cheese. The refried beans and rice were so good and complimented the dish perfectly. I can’t speak for my husbands dish because I didn’t try it but I will say he had so much on his plate that they had to bring it out on two plates. He said it all tasted good. We sat outside and I just have to compliment this place on the décor because I love Mexican art and architecture and this location was built to emphasize both in such a beautiful way. The colors scream happiness and the designs on the walls outside are very traditional Mexican style and absolutely breathtaking! I would highly recommend this place and that you sit outdoors and enjoy the detail put into the design of the patio.

I’ve loved Chuy’s since my college days in Austin(eh-hem, 20 years ago) San Antonio did not have Chuy’s yet. Then when Chuy’s did come to San Antonio, it was located on the opposite side of town. Now that Chuy’s is in the Sea World area, I’m able to enjoy the great food and ambiance more often. My family especiall enjoys Chuy’s because the beans are cooked in vegetable oil rather than lard. This is great for anyone staying away from pork. Finally, since I’m a calorie counter, Chuy’s has a few low-cal plates set aside on their menu. I usually get the Chicken combo.

Every square inch of this place is cluttered with the kind of kitsch that screams YOUAREHAVINGFUNHERE. The only reason I am willing to come here is to get their chips(thin, crisp and served warm) and their excellent creamy jalapeño and cilantro dip. Everything else is just okay. If you like black beans, this is the place for you. Otherwise, you can do better at literally any cheap taqueria in town. The little paper sleeves that the silverware comes in have prayers printed on them. I find this inappropriate. Keep your religion away from my food, and I promise not to eat in your church.

Came here for dinner after my friend picked me up from the airport. We only waited about 5 minutes to get seated. The place was packed! Our server was Bobby and he was very attentive and friendly. He brought out complimentary chips and salsa and the salsa was quite spicy. I asked if he had any other sauces and he brought out one of their signature sauces, the creamy jalapeño and it was delicious. Apparently they don’t always bring this sauce out unless you ask for it – so always ask for this great sauce! I immediately ordered the house Margarita and it was a great size and very tasty. Ordered the Chalupa & Enchilada(chicken chalupa, a homemade corn tortilla fried and topped with refried beans, cheese, freshly-roasted, hand-pulled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes & jalapeños, & Deluxe Chicken enchilada). My friend ordered the Custom Enchiladas(seasoned ground sirloin, fresh, oven-roasted chicken or cheese with your choice of sauce). Everything was quite tasty and we left very satisfied with the meal. They have about three locations in San Antonio and this one was only opened a few months ago. Plenty of free parking and close to the highway.

It’s strange that this location gets nearly a star lower rating than the other Chuy’s. Is that the result of inferior meals being pushed out by the kitchen staff? As I have never been to the other Chuy’s, I have no basis for comparison. As I read some of the reviews I was a bit shocked by what was written. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, it seems to me that some people don’t like this place because they don’t want to like this place or because they’re not supposed to like this place. That being said, the office crowd selected Chuy’s as our lunch destination and we all enjoyed it. This place does not attempt to be authentic Mexican — it’s TexMex. Now me not being from these here parts, I can’t rightly say what is or isn’t good«TexMex» but I can tell you, without a lifetime of exposure to «real TexMex» that this is tasty food, regardless of what it is or isn’t. Not only was it tasty but the portions are fairly substantial and the cost reasonable. OK, the one recurring criticism is that their chips are too thin. I for one liked the chips AND the dips. Now whether they liked the chips and salsa, well, you’ll have to ask them. Speaking of salsa, it was nicely spiced with very uniform small niblets of tomato, along with onion and cilantro. The creamy, salty, cilantro-ee thing was also very tasty. I ordered the burrito with ground«sirloin.» I’m not too sure how many people’s decision on whether to order or not order the burrito hinges on ground sirloin vs ground beef, but it tasted like ordinary ground beef. I thought that it was a bit too finely ground, almost a paste. Maybe the sirloin was finely textured… I also thought that it could have been more heavily spiced. However, rolled up in a tortilla«As big as yo face!» and topped with the green chile
