I’m hooked for sure! I’ve been back like five more times! I got the egg foo young to-go after lunch yesterday and… W.O.W. This is my go-to Chinese food restaurant. This place has set the bar for me as far as what great Chinese food in San Antonio should taste like. The food is fresh and hot, generous portions and reasonable prices. Trust me. Eat here. You’ll be back.

Small old style place, not that great to dine but their food is delicious! Good service and they take great care in custom orders! I love their fried rice and wonton soup! I don’t have too many choices being vegetarian but this place did not disappoint me! I’d suggest ordering over the phone for take out since they take good time in preparing your order — which is good and bad.

The reason I couldn’t give 5 stars is because I didn’t dine in & didn’t get a fortune cookie. I went to get lunch. I wish I would of called and ordered first because it took 15 – 20 minutes to receive my food. It was worth the wait, my food was fresh, & delicious. I got the beef lo mein & an egg roll. The workers are friendly and nice. The outside of this building might make you think twice about eating here though. It’s a old dirty white building lol! The inside is plain no TV or WiFi. There is some Asian music playing that is the only entertainment here. No fancy table, chairs, & etc. Just good service and food!

Today I went to eat at this restaurant that didn’t look good from the appearance of the building. Boy, can looks be deceiving. Once my party entered we were created with some music that fit the scenery. Once we sat we ordered are drinks which by way came out super fast. And then ordered from a number of great lunch special prices. I got the lemon chicken which came with rice, an egg roll, and lemon sauce for dipping your chicken. As well as an egg drop soup before your meal. Of course your wondering how the food was. Well let me tell you it was great. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The only reason why it is 3 stars and not 5 is because the waitress was kind of rude to us. When a person in my party asked for a To-go box she brought her a small one knowing that she had most of her meal on the plate. Other than that my plate was about $ 8.00. Thanks you Eloy

Very good food. The portions are large and lunch specials reasonably priced $ 5.50 you get soup, entrée, rice, and egg roll or rangoons. I go for lunch frequently and love it! Looks a little sketchy from the outside, but don’t let it scare you away. Great Chinese food!

Arrived early to a meeting in the area, had some time to kill so checked out the China Sun. I have to say, great choice! Food was delicious and service was excellent, not to mention the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely stop in the next time I am in the area. Thank you China Sun Restaurant, you saved the day.

Every time we have been here the food is super fresh and very tasty. However, would be better if other people would know about this place. All you see at the other tables are Cops!!!

I’ve never dined in so I can’t comment on the service, but everyone has always been very pleasant and ordering over the phone has been super easy. I’m a pesky vegetarian so I can only comment on the tofu dishes, and they’re very good. Good portions, very saucy, lots of vegetables. Not the best place I’ve eaten, but still delicious. To use 2 phrases I’ve learned since moving to Texas: «it’s downright alright.» And«it’ll make a turd.»

So after a long debate and driving around the northeast side of town we found this hole in the wall that turned out to actually be amazing. Hostess/server was courteous and very polite. He took our order fast and brought out our drinks fast as well. Egg drop soup was delicious and silky smooth. I ordered the lemon chicken opted for sweet and sour sauce with fried rice and egg roll and my gf ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice and crab ragoons. It was AWESOME to say the least. If your looking for good authentic Chinese food please stop by and don’t worry we came at 8:25 pm on a Saturday and they did not hesitate to provide fantastic service! Signing out…

This place is incredible. Good portions, great food. The eggrolls are great. Don’t judge by the outside it looks old but that’s because everything is perfect here and need not be changed!

I just ordered takeout from here. It was by far the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Having grown up in the Northeast I am admittedly a bit of a Chinese food snob, as some of the best hole in the wall ethnic restaurants are up there. Even still I give most places the benefit if the doubt. I cannot begin to fathom how other reviewers gave this place such high reviews. The rice doesn’t even resemble fried rice. Panda Express comes far closer than China Sun. It is essentially white rice with yellow food coloring(perhaps saffron?) Not a single onion, carrot, or tiny chuck of scrambled egg. No pork or change chicken… NOTHINGBUTRICE. I gave them 1 star for the tasty, albeit soggy, eggroll. What they call won ton soup is offensive. It was just salty broth with one flat noodle in it. NOTHINGINSIDEOFTHENOODLE. JUST A NOODLE. No chopped scallions or anything. The General Tso’s Chicken rivaled mall Chinese Food. It was just plain terrible. I may have PTSD.

Only 4 stars because instead of fountain drinks and free refills on soda beverages, you buy a 20 oz, and that’s it. It’s a little on the well worn side, but not only was the service great, out food was outstanding. Their wonton soup is some of the best I’ve had. The lemon grass chicken I ordered wasn’t quite what I expected, but it was soooo good! I want to go back and try other menu items now, and if I don’t like a place the first time, there is no way I’ll return. I tried the broccoli beef I ordered for my sons, and it had great flavor. The egg rolls were to notch. Over all, I will be back and it is one of the better Chinese places I’ve had in town.

one of the most incredible places ever! the food is scrumptious and Truc, the main man, is a character. He always greets us warmly and takes care of us when we visit. We have tried almost every dish on the menu but the rice is my personal favorite, by far, followed VERY closely by the egg rolls. All in all, a hidden treasure.

This is a review of the hot and sour soup only. I ordered a bowl to go and it was hot and plentiful. The broth was flavorful, about medium thickness, and just the right amount of spice. But that’s where the«good» ends. Someone else’s review mentioned the small amount of meat the restaurant uses in their dishes. The hot and sour soup takes it to a new low, or no. As in no meat. And no mushrooms, a staple of the spicy dish. So, what was in there? Some julienned bamboo shoots, a few cubes of tofu, and some really thin egg. It was mostly broth. Although the broth was tasty, there are many better options in the Alamo City for a better bowl of soup.

I work next door. The Chinese fumes make everyone drool. I ask myself everyday… «Should I eat Chinese?» It is subliminal. I seriously have to talk myself out of it. I love their sesame chicken. The egg rolls are big, greasy and super duper good. Their egg drop soup rocks. They are fast and that rocks. It is a no frills place to eat. Bare bones, really. But most people who frequent China Sun isn’t there for the comfort of the seats. Get it to go if you can’t deal with its look. The food is totally worth the $ 5 plate.

Lunch specials are a good bargain, most around $ 5.50 for soup, on tray, and either egg roll or wonton. Drinks are extra. The former owners were more generous with meal portions and provided more meat with the meal. The new owners while having a decent quality of food skip on the meat provided in their dishes. For example: If you like Mongolian, be prepared to have 85 to 90% onions with a few green peppers thrown in for coloring and then a few shreds of meat. Same thing goes for most dishes; you order beef/chicken and mushroom/broccoli your going get more veggies than meat. But on the bright side, this is probably healthier for you unless you’re looking for the protein from the meat, if this is the case look elsewhere. All-in-all I am a fan, I know what I am getting before I get there so I am OK with the portion ratio of veggies to meat, even though I prefer more meat in my meals.

Went back tonight, the food is getting better everytime. The chicken lemongrass is back to to level it was before at Saigon Garden, if not better. Everybody in my party loved their dish.
