So this review is long over due. On two seperate occasions i went in to buy 3 dozens of donuts for volunteer events. Just want to point out chicos is under new ownership. The new predatory owner is all about profits and taking advantage of the customers. I know people pay with foodstamps and dont care how much they are being charged, but some still pay with cash. The point is if you dont ask how much the sweet bread costs she will over charge you. The first time i went and bought 3 dozens she charged me 31 dollars. I had feeling i was over charged, but let it go. The second time i asked for price before ordering and my 3 dozens came out to 18 dollars big difference, but she then she charged me dollar for a box. Be consisted on your business practices. Long story short dispite living so close to chicos i will make the commute to Esmeralda bakery on new Laredo hwy.

This is my go to bakery! I’m so happy I found it because I’m very picky about my bakeries. And the staff is wonderful :) I actually recently lost my phone & went through the usual freak out we go through nowadays when that happens lol (lost pictures are the main reason since the phone can be replaced). But I called it & luckily the owner (I think she’s the owner; she’s always there & super sweet) answered & held onto it for me. I am so grateful to her & this just adds to the list of reasons I will continue to frequent this bakery, even if we move out of the area :)
Edit: I just noticed the owner & I have the same name. But I’m a different person, I promise lol

This is a little hidden treasure in the southside of San Antonio, known for their wonderful fresh delicious sweet bread. I would give it a five star, but I decided to get them 4 stars due to their limited schedule and short work hours. Come on people you need to be opened additional hours you were losing out on a lot of business.

I just went to this place for the first time and I was so upset that I hadn’t gone sooner as its so close to my house!!! Truly a hidden gem. Soooo many pastries to choose from. The place is so cute and clean. Will definitely be back!

Recently renovated, space now has a very inviting feeling. The customer service is always awesome. But most importantly the baked goods are amazing and decently priced. Chico’s bakery is now my go to bakery in San Antonio. There is ALWAYS a huge variety of goodies and they always have new things to try. You can tell that the bakers love to experiment with new recipes and new toppings because the sweets not only taste great, they look beautiful as well. Cuddos to the new owner… you are doing a great job!

Fresh! Ok. So it has been a while since I finished this but OMG! This Panderia is super fresh and delicious. Cute little fun size bites are available so you don’t have to share or feel like your eating this big pan dulce. Hope you can try it soon. It is worth the drive if it’s far from you. That I can tell ya for sure.

Nice bakery in the south side it about time they make something nice. Owner is a very friendly lady interacts and speaks to her customers. The sweet bread is the best it’s made daily.
