Was looking for smoked bbq, found it! I usually like the harshly smoked bbq, this stuff was on the mild side, me and my family loved it. Corn and cole slaw were fresh and definitely new flavors! We ate in the back patio shade with the sounds of crickets and birds while in 92 degree heat, I’ll never forget this park in the back for the family. Californians wonderful experience here, if your visiting the drive in zoo, better stop at this place for quality bbq!!!

This BBQ restaurant apparently has been sold and is under new management. They were having some hiccups when we went. The food came to our party at all different times and they seemed well, confused. The BBQ was definitely good, their sides were awesome. Try the creamed corn, and I liked the cole slaw. It has a light dressing that kept the cabbage crunchy vs your standard coleslaw. I Would try this place again, I just can’t go all in yet.

The personalized service I get is just amazing. I love the décor and the location. The food is delicious too. My go to is the Texas Baked Potato with extra cheese and jalapenos. For dessert, always a peach cobbler!

Ribs were awesome! They fell right off the bone. The brisket was done just right too. Great food quickly. Can’t beat this place! We’ll definitely be back.

I have visited this place in SA. Dry meat and overall mediocre quality of brisket. Coming from Houston, I think we have the best barbecue. I recommend Rudy’s or even Buccee’s for goodness sake’s.

Found BB-BBQ while looking for an authentic, delicious BBQ place during a short visit to the area. This place did not disappoint! Tried the sample platter to get a sense of the place. All meats were perfectly smoked, perfect fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs, and brisket so tender, it falls apart. The BBQ sauce is also superb. To wrap it up the sides, tried coleslaw, potato salad, and corn, were the perfect complement for the meat. It’s BYOB so don’t forget to bring something, but don’t miss this place!

The BEST baby back ribs I have EVER had. And I have lived in AL and MO. Everything tastes scratch made. Good dark tea too. Bring fav sauce.

«San Antonio’s best hidden barbeque place» should be hidden better. Half past noon and I’m the only customer. Character: 4****, It’s a firefighter themed joint, so much promise. Service: 2**, They have a counter and wall menu when you come in but they tell you to have a seat. The wait staff was fine but they served the brisket on paper in a red basket. And by paper, I mean paper, not waxed paper, just plain paper, not something that would hold up to a fork, much less a knife. Actually it tore just picking up a slice. Food/Quality: 2**, ½ pound«marbled» brisket, side of green beans, and a Big Red. I ordered the marbled and it was, none of the fat had been trimmed. I’m usually okay with that, but a full inch of fat might be a bit much. The bark was dark but the smoke ring was just 1/8″ deep. I thought I’d check the tenderness. Sure enough, it was tender, fall apart tender, too tender, you couldn’t even pick up a slice without it falling apart. So, now we’re on to the taste, oh wait, what taste, there wasn’t any, at all! No smoke flavor, no rub, just nothing, 2**. The sauce wasn’t much better, tangy ketchup, 2**. Free white bread, day or two old, 0*. Homemade green beans, well would have been, no green beans on Wednesdays, so homemade sweet corn. Corn in water, nothing else, you know, butter, salt and pepper may have helped, 2**. Can of Big Red, 4****. Value: 2**, ~$ 11.50 order total and $ 7.50 per pound. Just too much. Pit: ?* There’s an old smoke shack on the premises. If it was in use you’d think some smoke flavor would have jumped on the meat. Oh well. Won’t be back, you shouldn’t either.

Not very good. I had the special and the RIbs had very meat on them and kind if tough. My jaws we sore when u left. They apologize for the ruins and gave me an extra one but I would’ve preferred they lowered the price, $ 14.25 for 2 meat and 2 sides. Would try again, but not in a rush to do it.

I ordered the pork ribs, beef ribs, brisket, sausage and potato salad. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back next time I visit San Antonio.

Some of the best BBQ in Texas. The brisket is so good! Melts in your mouth and has so much flavor. This place is a hidden treasure.

Ok little BBQ joint in the outskirts of SA. A gift card brought us here so I was excited to try it because of all the great things we heard about this place. Unfortunately the day we decided to go they didn’t have any brisket OR sausage. Wha??? We ended sharing a two meat plate with a beef rib and chicken. It came with two sides. The beans and potato salad seemed safe. The meat was very tender and the rib lacked that peppery crust or bark that I’m used to. Still upset that we didn’t get to try their brisket or sausage. Apparently a delivery wasn’t made that day. The sides were also just ok. My favorite being the beans with all that garlic. The place was rather empty for a Friday during lunch hour. Did they really need four people working? One high schooler who took our order, one older lady to bus tables, and another lady to ring you out? Seemed a bit unnecessary, plus I didn’t care to hear their gossip while I ate. Probably not going to come back here because around SA there are mom and pop BBQ places that are just as good if not better minus all the little slip-ups this place had.

Took my folks there on 4th of July. Brisket and sausage were good. Sides decent. Portions a bit small for the price. I dropped this place to 2 stars because of the atmosphere. The outside looks like it hasn’t been maintained in years. Inside is ok. I like all the fire station t-shirts. Their website photos don’t really match up with what you see toady, supporting the lack of care for the site. Don’t look for any alcohol there… they didn’t offer it.

This place used to be *the spot* for awesome BBQ. Falling off the bone ribs, brisket to die for, etc… but they lost their pitmaster, and it shows. I imagine the pecan cobbler is still amazingly good, though.

Really great BBQ my husband and I shared a plate I forgot the name but it was 20.00. It came with chicken, brisket, pork ribs and torrisso saucsage. Three side we had pinto beans which my husband loved, butter corn yummy and potato salad delish. Came with lots of bread. We were visiting from out of state and this place hit the spot. The food was down right good.

Potato salad: excellent!!! The only potato salad I’ve had at a restaurant that tasted homemade — I would come back just for the potato salad. Brisket: sooooo good! I tried the«lean» version. They must cook it forever — the meat is scrumptious and there’s just a little layer of crunchy fat on top with a thick black crust. Nice and salty, too. I found myself tearing off little pieces of the crust and savoring them. Again, this tastes like home-style barbecue… a real labor of love, folks. Cole slaw: also excellent. It’s the good vinegar and pepper kind with fresh, crunchy cabbage. Barbecue sauce: good, but I wish it were a little sweeter. My favorite was the Sissy Sauce that Rudy’s used to have — if that gives you an idea of what I was hoping for. But everyone has different tastes when it comes to barbecue sauce, so I’m not going to fault them for this. Atmosphere: Perfect. It’s a quaint, wooden barn with tables both indoors and outdoors under the trees. The cashier(probably the owner) is super nice and doesn’t rush you or talk your head off. Price: On par with Rudy’s and Cooper’s, but now Bucket Brigade is my new favorite! Plus, they offer plates(as well as alacarte) so you don’t have to compromise with the rest of the family. Can’t wait to try more of their food. It really tastes like someone is putting their heart and soul into cooking good barbecue!

Friendly place with lots of food choices. Hit the spot after a long day in the caves. Add a burger to the menu and it would be a 5.

Super cute restaurant on a heavily wooded lot. It probably gets overlooked because it’s on a less traveled highway. I got the pork ribs, sausage, potato salad, peach cobbler, bread pudding, and sweet tea. Loved the sausage, and the bbq sauce had a nice kick to it. The potato salad was really good and had that made-from-scratch taste. As for the desserts, how you can go wrong? I enjoyed both my cobbler and bread pudding. If you’re a sweet tea lover, enjoy the self-serve sweet tea with unlimited refills. Best of all, this place is BYOB! There is tons of outdoor seating both in front and in back, which is perfect when the weather wants to cooperate, so you can bring your beer, wine, or whatever and enjoy it with your bbq on their picnic tables. It’s definitely a place I would come and just hang out.

I was in Schertz this last weekend and I stumbled upon this place on my drive to Rolling Oaks Mall. The first thing that stood out was the bright yellow sign outside that said«Bucket Brigade BBQ.» Feeling in the mood for some ribs, I turned into the gravel lot. There were a lot of tables outside, which would make great places to have dinner with your family and friends. Stepping inside the front doors, I was overcome with the amount of firefighter uniforms, plagues, etc. It was really cool though! Stepping up to the counter, the lady promptly took my order of half a pound of ribs with a side of potato salad. While waiting for my order to be ready, I walked out the back door and to my surprise, there were even more wooden picnic tables out back. Then I noticed the smoke coming from the smokehouse coming from my right. Seeing this, I had high hopes for my food and I was not disappointed. The ribs had a great smoky flavor. The sauce was a great compliment as well. Moving on to the potato salad — it tasted fresh and you could tell that they made it from scratch. You get unlimited refills on the sweet tea too, which was very welcomed! I love my sweet tea for sure. Oh yeah, right behind my seat was a signed picture of Jimmy Kimmel, saying«Keep making meat!». Can’t get a better endorsement than that.
