This was our new favorite spot. It felt like this place had been part of the neighborhood for decades, even though they were only a few months old. Great pizza and prices, simply amazing lunch special which 2 people could easily share. Come back!

Looks like this place is closed, we tried to call and it said the number is disconnected and their website is offline as well. I have not eaten there, but I will give it 1 star to bring their rating down, so it does not show up as #1 result. If it reopens, I will change my rating after testing.

They were closed at 6:20pm on 8−26−11, contrary to the hours posted in the window. There looked to be sodas in the fridge seen through the front window. Not sure if they’re closed for good or temporarily. Make sure you call ahead?

The pizza here is awesome. New York style and large slices. I had the lunch special, two slices of pizza and a drink. At first I thought the slices were going to be modestly big, but when they brought it out I was surprised at how big they actually were. I definitely filled up on the pizza and was continually brought sweet iced tea from the staff. The staff are attentive and continually ask how you are doing and how the food is. They are very hospitable and friendly. The location is next to a gas station, but don’t let that fool you to think it’s a run down place. They received a Blue Plate award and the inside is nice and cool. The tunes are even entertaining as they were playing some KONO on the stereo system. This is definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.

AMAZINGPIZZA! Couldn’t believe the size of this pizza, HUGE! Very Delicious and satisfying. This was the last place my bf went to before he deployed and he still craves their pizza! He’s a picky eater and he was beyond impressed. It’s a must have :)

My wife, grandson & I decided to try Big G’s after reading all the positive reviews on Unilocal.I’m always a little suspicious of so much positive and so little negative, but decided to give it a try anyway. I’m glad I did! This is by far the best pizzeria I’ve visited in my 41 years in San Antonio. Great pizza, great salad, great(very friendly) service. I think I talked to everyone that worked there! Very unusual for me. We were there in mid-afternoon so I wasn’t really all that hungry, but ordered the house salad in addition to the pizza. It was as advertised. A generous amount of different lettuces, onions and tomatoes, all fresh. We’ll be back again soon. I really want to try the Dr. J. four-cheese pizza.

I just went to Big G’s this past Saturday eager to find out what all the hype was about. I ordered a small house salad with Italian dressing on the side and a small pepperoni pizza. When my salad arrived I noticed it was served on a pizza pan instead of a bowl like other pizzerias in town, which was a bit odd but the salad was pretty good. Minutes after I finished my salad my pizza arrived. The pizza was piping hot by the time it got to my table, and the crust left black coal dust on my fingers. I was a bit disappointed there wasn’t enough pepperoni on my pizza though.

This place is THEREALTHING. As stated in almost all the reviews, the pizza is absolutely the best in San Antonio. It is thin and greasy, like all the pizza I have had growing up in Penna. This place brought back memories of the Mom and Pop places that I was raised on. It has taken me 17 years, but I have finally found a place that can hold a candle to GNA Pizzaria. The Pizza. WOW. Thin, really thin. Greasy, really greasy. Tasty. Great cheese, pepperoni and sausage. No skimping on the quality of ingredients. The crust was cooked to perfection, with the«scaring», or little black marks, that all good NY pizza gets. The flavor of the dough was light and semi-sweet. The exterior was crisp and flaky, while the interior was velvety. We had just eaten at Big Lou’s last week, and while it was good, it was not great. The crust was crisp at first, but by the second piece, it had gotten chewy. Big G’s crust stayed crisp until we put the few pieces remaining in the to go box. The Steak Sandwich is wonderful. The meat was not fatty, but full of flavor. There is no sauce, just the way it is served in Philly. The meat is very juicy, not dry. Get it with sweet peppers. You will be happy. George the owner is a man after my own heart. He is doing a wonderful job, takes pride it what he does, and brings to life the true meaning of Mom & Pop. The place is small, but he is just starting out. I see big things here. Go there, you won’t regret it.

Ordered the cheesesteak… a pepperoni pie. fried mushrooms. everything was slammin! A little different than the pizza back home, but definitely holds its own; not a pie to pass on. Great sauce and cheese. Everything was fresh. Owners were great hosts! Definitely will be back! Good eats!

GREATPIZZA! Excellent service from the owner, can’t wait to go back next time I’m in town. Definitely pick this over papa johns or one of the chain places, you won’t regret it! It can be easy to miss since you dont see it from the road, but you’ll catch the sign if you’re looking for it! GO!

Ate here for the 1st time tonight after finding the restaurant on Unilocal.George, the owner, was incredibly nice, and went out of his way to serve us. Owner’s like him have so much pride in their business & it shows in the love of their food. We had side salads which were huge, with several types of lettuce/spinach/arugula. Pizza was hand made dough & topping were great. All well prepared & seasoned well. My only suggestion is to straighten up the counter area, and point out the blue plate award! People like clean & the location in the strip doesn’t match your fine restaurant… so advertise the blue plate! Best wishes!

This place was delicious! They offer a lunch special of two slices of pizza with two toppings each, and a soda for $ 6. What a deal! The pizza was New York style thin crust. The toppings, and the size of the slices were quite generous! The staff was friendly, and the food came quickly! The place was immaculately clean– they’ve even won a Blue Plate Award for their clean kitchen! The menu offered quite a dizzying array of pizza toppings! They also offer sandwiches, subs, gyros, and salads. Big G’s might be a bit hard to find for the novice. It’s located in the back of this strip center, next to a laundromat. In all, it was a great experience! The food and service was quite impressive! I’ll certainly be back!

I’m a pizza connoisseur and this place is the real deal. I firmly believe some places just get lucky when it comes to taste and style. Whatever the reason it is good and very reasonably priced. I tried it because of the Kens TV pizza card and I’m glad I did. The owner is friendly and down to earth and this is a must try for anyone. Distinctively New York style and truly thin and delicious. The 20″ is the way to go due to the huge pieces that make it complete. I also tried the Dr. J., which is a Quattro formagio or four cheese pizza. This is the bomb and really hits the spot when you want a rich and tasty alternative to traditional style pizza. Try it, I can almost guarantee you’ll like it.

Food: Pizza(obviously), appetizers, salads, subs, burgers, gyros, calzone, Stromboli. Super Bowl special: One 20-inch 2-topping pizza, 10 wings(any flavor: mild, medium, hot, &BBQ), 2-liter soda for $ 18.99. If you order early by Saturday, they’ll give you a 10% discount. Pizza toppings: pepperoni, Italian sausage, beef, Canadian bacon, breakfast bacon, chicken, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, black olives, green olives, anchovies, artichokes, spinach, portabella mushrooms, feta cheese, ricotta cheese, jalapenos, banana peppers, pineapple. Lunch special: $ 5 for my choice of(a) 2 slices with two toppings, 1 soda or(b) 1 slice with two toppings, 1 salad, 1 soda. I arrived at 2:30p, alone but for the very friendly staff. I chose b. Killer salad: 10-inch plate with a big pile of red-leaf lettuce, spinach, arugula, escarole, tomato, thinly sliced red onion rings, sliced pepperoncini, sliced black olives, and shredded mozzarella with choice of ranch, Italian, bleu cheese, or Caesar dressing served on the side. I chose beef for my two toppings. Pizza slice was just like I had in Manhattan except it was one-sixth of a 20-inch pizza and HUGE! It almost filled a 12-inch tray/plate. Everything is made to order. Nothing is seasoned until it is ordered. They make their own garlic Parmesan pizza dough. They make all their own sauces but since I didn’t order wings, I can’t speak to those. They say they put oregano on their burgers unless told not to do so but, as stated before, nothing is seasoned until ordered. They haven’t obtained their TABC license yet. When I asked, they said any dine-in-house patron of legal age could ask for and receive a maximum of two beers free(all in the Miller family, including Coors Lite). That’s dine-in only, folks! They hope to have their license by their Grand Opening on Super Bowl Sunday; currently they are closed Sundays. The wheelchair ramp is at the opposite end of the strip center facing Callaghan. The pizzeria faces Torino. The parking lot must accommodate patrons of the gas pumps as well as the laundromat. However Big G’s gracious staff assures me that folks park in neat lines across the lot and no one is inconvenienced. This is a quaint, charming little place where anyone would feel comfortable. The staff alone deserve the five stars!
