My boyfriend and I came here after a trip to the planetarium. We ordered two large drinks and were off on our merry way. Both of our drinks just tasted like cheap syrup, there was no discernible flavor between the two. My boyfriend said he was fine and would just drink his(after gagging… men lol). So I drove back to see if I could trade my drink in for something else($ 23 for two drinks mind you!). The carhop seemed apologetic and went to ask her manager Theresa if she could exchange it. Simply put I was told NO there are no exchanges or refunds. I don’t understand this policy, in my mind it’s bad business. I worked in customer service for years and not once did I flat out just say no. I went back to the planetarium with friends the next week and while they wanted to stop for drinks we decided against it due to my poor experience.

This place was OK. Got the drinks home that I ordered and couldn’t really taste much of the alcohol that was supossed to be in them. So that was a disappointment. Service was very friendly and quick however.

I just don’t get it. You drive in tell them what beer you want but then have to get out of the car and get it yourself. Then they have signs encouraging tipping. For what? Do you tip at a normal liquor store?

The scene: BF and I having just left The Cove, have decided not to get a second round since the bar area is totally FUBAR’ed. BF: I’d really like to get some Alamo beer, but I’m not sure where we should go. Me: Let’s go through the drive-through. BF: ??? I’d spotted this place on the way in, and figured if anyone would have this delicious San Antonio brew, it would be this place. Our super-attentive server at Luke had introduced us to Alamo’s Golden Ale and we were hooked. Having never seen it in Houston(though we will investigate at Spec’s shortly), we also wanted a few to take home with us after we’d consumed tonight’s during our R&R in our hotel room. We drove up and were given a drink menu mostly concerned with daquiris and margaritas and were temporarily panicked that Beer N All was a misnomer. But we asked for Alamo, and it was hiding in a cooler over to the other side. Prices are at a premium here – our 6pk was $ 10 – but you’re really paying for the curiosity of having someone hand you your alcohol through your car window. You’re expected to tip as well, since this is Booze Sonic and someone will be bringing you your drink of choice.(The drink chicks are wearing buttons that will remind you of this fact.) We were in, out, and had obtained The Precious in a relatively painless manner. Go for the novelty, stay for the… er, yeah, go for the novelty!
