Went here with my wife and a friend in mid-June without really high expectations. We saw the reviewed on Unilocal but hadn’t heard about it from any of our friends. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and will definitely be returning! They have a great selections of wines and beers(nothing on tap from what I recall, however). We had two bottles of a delicious and reasonably priced red along with a very impressive(and delicious) tray of meats and cheeses. We were impressed by the incredibly friendly and knowledgable staff as well as the ambiance which I’d describe as comfortably shabby-chic. They have events on some weekdays(bingo, wine tastings, fashion shows) and offer a military discount. Will certainly be returning as I said before. My only qualm, albeit a small one, is I feel like you can’t call yourself an «ale house» without any beer on tap! Otherwise, highly-recommend Nectar to locals and visitors alike!

Very chill bar. I love this place. The owners are very kind and it’s not overly crowded at all. Fairly priced and a nice place to go for a drink to hang out.

This is a great place to visit. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It’s a nice place for a first date. Good wine selection and beer too. Ambience is excellent here. You can order three different types of wine for 15 dollars. They also serve appetizers. Yummy strawberries with honey and goat cheese. We also had the salmon dip with crackers. All the items on the appetizer menu sound perfect. Must stop by and visit this place. You can order a one pint beer for 5 dollars.

Loved this place! Great food and wine, great atmosphere, super friendly staff. Had fun playing wine bingo. They have several board games too that you can play. It was a great date night for me and my husband. Can’t wait to go back. The champagne shrimp salad was amazing, as well as meat and cheese platter.

I went to Nectar last night with four friends. We had a great time! The owners and staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The person helping us asked what flavors in wine we liked and paired each of us with great wine.(I feel guilty for not getting his name) In no way pretentious and they never«upsold» us as far as I am concerned. They have a table with board games for their patrons that I am sure I can find something to play the next time I visit. The food was very well prepared and quite tasty. We ordered 6 items and shared. I would be happy next time with any of them but have to admit the Ahi Wraps were my personal favorite.

Stopped by Nectar after dinner in Friday. It’s a bit hipster vibe but not snooty. Different seating areas like high tops, couches to picnic tables. They have a nice selection of wine of course but the«ale» part is a bit missing. I had the flight and I had them choose the three. No draught selection, they have two fridges with beer. Took a look at their menu and my brother is a huge sardines fan — so he orders those. They come plated in the can with water crackers. We ordered the shrimp something. There were nice sized poached shrimps on some arugula and a little dressing. I can’t tell you what they tasted like but they looked appetizing. The place is perfect for dates, womens night out(not like the wild girl nights ones). A low key no frills comfy place. Go check it out.

Fantastic pre-show wine and dine options if attending The Tobin Center. Wide selection of meat and cheeses and options to pair your favorites as you like. Wine flights make for a fun and entertaining experience and the staff is fantastic. Be adventurous and explore Nectar and all of its offerings, for any occasion — we always leave perfectly gratified and anticipating our next visit!

Sooooo totes cuuuutteeee!!! You would never expect this place in this area, it’s like a stones throw away from the Alamo. I love that they’re so welcoming and always allow my little Chi to come in with me. Before you get any ideas though Little Bit is small, and potty trained so idk how they will take to other dogs. Everyone who has come to sample wine flights and cheese/meat boards with me has fallen in love with this place. Try everything, you won’t be disapointed. I’ve been wanting to try Wine-o-Bingo and their ultimate mimosa! Definite gem of an addition to DTSA!!!

I have mixed feelings about Nectar — here’s why: Online, I read that Nectar had over 100 types of wine and beer, and naturally assumed that meant I had a huge list to choose from. Upon walking in, I was presented with a list of less than twenty wines — overpriced compared to similar establishments — and realized the advertisement was misleading. There are dozens of bottles for sale, but not by the glass. We also could purchase only by the glass, not by the bottle. I had the salmon plate, and it was fantastic. I was pleasantly delighted by the flavor and quality. The chèvre(goat cheese) was very mild, the salmon was a bit smoky, and the caviar(not sure that that was authentic) was a nice textural complement. The service was good — there were two guys working the bar and tables, and one reading for Wine-O Bingo. I never felt like I was kept waiting, even when all tables were full. I enjoyed Wine-O Bingo, but the prizes were mostly junk(frisbees, pins) despite one or two cool things(Rosemary, pasta). The game went on 7 – 10, but by 9 most people had left. I would go again just because I like the idea of games and drinking.

Absolutely love this place, but the one day my date and I can actually make it to play bingo on Tuesday night, they ran out of cards and the place isn’t even full. If the email said to reserve a spot I would have… How easy would that have been. The only night I can get off work and we are told we can’t play bingo and we got here before 7pm as well. Well, next time I get the chance to play… I’ll just reserve. So for those of you who want to play bingo… Reserve your spots… Was going to eat a fabulous meal here as well but cancelled our order… PLANSCHANGED: So they caught us just in time as we were about to walk out, two men left and we took their cards. Perfect timing Thank you!

LOVE! Went on a Sunday late afternoon for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. We were given great service by both the owners and the other bartender on duty. Each of us ordered a wine flight which came with 3SOLID pours… order the sparkling, trust me. We also ordered a charcuterie board with two meats and two cheeses which was a generous amount of food. We ordered the lamb and rosemary sausage as well as the salami, both of which were delicious. For the cheeses we had the Tom Creuse and the mustard based cheese(can’t remember the name)…they were both good but get the mustard cheese, it’s killer! It came with frackers, pickles, candied pecans, honey, dried cranberries, cherries and olives. Basically, heaven on a plate. The place is super cute and has board games if you’re hanging out. They do mimosas on the weekends, bingo on Tuesdays and free tastings on Wednesdays. Looking forward to my next visit!

Great find in downtown San Antonio… Sitting inside reminds you of a wine bar in New York. Industrial yet elegant, eclectic furnishings, friendly atmosphere. The clientele is likewise varied: while we ate lunch a bachelorette gaggle came through, young couples and families. The wine selection is vast. Flights, by the glass or bottles. Wide variety of whites, reds and bubbly. Great to go prices as well. The menu has great salads and tempting appetizers. We had the almond topped Brie with cherries and shrimp salad with champagne vinaigrette. Many more items to try in future visits. This is a great wine bar in downtown. A must stop next time you visit the area

As far as the wine goes, this place had some great selection. They had bottles for sale in the back right corner of the business as well as a number of wines by the glass available on their menu. The highlight was the flights they offer though. My partner and I were lucky enough to try some red wine flights before an event we went to in the area. The staff were happy to make recommendations to fill out our three options. We each had two wines picked but didn’t know which third to get but our waiter came to the rescue! At $ 15 a flight, they were also the most wine for the money when looking at their menu. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any food at this place but the food on the other tables looked very good. The menu has some interesting sounding items as well. The restaurant was located in a converted storefront in a very basic fashion. They had modern tables and chairs in a loft style building that overlooked the city street that the business is located on. If you don’t like private tables, this place had plenty of picnic benches and beer garden-type long tables to eat and drink at with friends old or new. Speaking of friends, there were plenty of twenty somethings in this place looking to have a great time after work so get over here if you are looking for people to hang out with. I would recommend this bar for wine and snacks and can’t wait to go back. The staff are great and the dining area is welcoming.

Boozy Thyme Cherries!!! High quality meats and cheeses!!! Beautifully presented charcuterie boards!!! Delicious flights of wine!!! Wine bottles for purchase!!! Have I caught your attention yet? Nectar sure caught mine and my friends attention. What a welcome addition to downtown SA, you lucky tourists, you!!! You don’t even know! I didn’t have to attend the Unilocal event here to know that this husband and wife team take their wine/cheese & meat bar VERY seriously. I LOVE the ambiance and the cute décor and furniture in Nectar. I feel like such a VIP here, and they are available to answer any questions you may have on their extensive list of quality meats and cheeses. We’ve tried the cabot cheese, the cheese reminiscent of a brie, their prosciutto, the elk blueberry sausage, pork sausage with fennel, and the list goes on and on! To me, hummus is generally pretty basic but theirs is SO flavorful and tasty. Everything is GOOD and I love that they have honey with the little honey comb in it still, and figs, and apricots, and everything is just SOGOOD!!! Do yourself a favor and check out Nectar the next time you’re in the downtown area. So many Unilocalers definitely CAN’T be wrong!

Wow wow wow! I am in love with this place. A chic little wine bar with wifi? Sign me up as their number one customer. I walked in very flustered(the DT traffic nearly killed my spirits) but I was immediately greeted with a warm smile and a «how ya doing tonight.» I’m in hipster-wino heaven. The menu, while it appeared short and limited, actually had an array of wines if you know the differences between red and white wine. There was plenty of seating and tables; they also had big(ish) comfy chairs and a bar top. Near the back of the house is a table with loads of games. Which made me want to text my friends and drag them down here. The atmosphere was fun without being overwhelming like an actual bar, it had more of a classy vibe than most places downtown that offer alcoholic beverages. I can’t wait to return for another delicious sip of wine!

Don’t you love those places where you feel like you are in another city or time? And you are just sitting wondering it its the music, the food, the atmosphere or you just had a little too much wine??? Well, Nectar Wine Bar is that kind of place! The place is just beautiful and it feel modern and cozy at the same time. They have a huge wine and beer selection, and all kinds of amazing charcuteries platters and delicious hummus to go with it. If you are in the mood of having a glass — or bottle, why not? — of wine with friends, this is the place! And For all the people that are visiting San Antonio and are staying near The Alamo — three blocks from Nectar Wine Bar -, you have to try this San Antonio hidden gem!

First off, Nectar is an adorable wine bar, a mere 3 blocks from the Alamo, w/some charcuterie that could put some places on both coasts to shame! And, if you like quality sardines, the ones here are oh so delectably french… The cheese selection here is absolutely world class(I mean, seriously, you can get a fromage drizzled with«death cherries»…just ask Rob, the engaging and gracious owner, and he will be happy to explain). The wine is nicely varied w/some fabulously unique selections. You can get both a classic Provence rosé and a more distinctive French malbec from Cahors and almost any other varietal or style in between! Rob and his wife, the owners, taste each wine they sell, so they are well versed in each one’s quality! This place is definitely somewhere you can get a board, grab a bottle and kill a couple of hours by yourself, on a date, or with a group of friends in the midst of downtown San Antonio!

I don’t go to downtown much. But this place will certainly give me a reason to go there at least once a month. Last weekend, after the much needed rain, my PIC(partner in crime) and I headed to Nectar to check this place out. Now my PIC really knows wine. I know some. To me, wine. is you like it or you don’t. Simple. As soon as I walked in, I fell in love. You can tell that they put so much time and effort into every detail. The tables, the fresh flowers, the lighting, even the colors. This was my kind of place. A place one could go and unwind and have a glass or two of wine. So my PIC picked out a bottle of wine, we sat down to study the menu. I felt like a kid in candy store. I wanted everything on the menu. But i showed some restraint. I’m a big fan of charcuterie and cheese. Give me wine and cheese and I’m happy. Did I mention even the menus are nice. So after much debate about the cheese, cause I wanted them all, we narrowed it down to a two cheese and two meat platter. When our platter came, it looked like something out of a magazine. Presentation was perfect! Didn’t even want to touch it. Took a picture, then attacked it. It came with some delicious honey, some boozy cherries that were out of this world, some blueberries, strawberries and pecans. These guys, Rob and Rachel know what they are doing. This is a great place for a first date. You can’t go wrong by coming here. Not into wine, don’t worry, they also have beer.

Best charcuterie I have ever had. This place is awesome! I don’t like to get downtown much, but I can’t wait to come back. Things that were phenomenal at Nectar: local honey house-made stone ground mustard the special fennel sausage the serrano ham(my favorite) the cheese(camembert and another semi soft that I can’t remember) a really nice Torrontes They have nice/quaint rustic/shabby chic décor. If I had one suggestion, it’s to add fresh bead from the bakery across the street; maybe baguette. Rachel and Rob were very nice, welcoming, and informative. I would simply say to get there… get there now!

After a long day yesterday biking the Riverwalk to all of the Missions and back we decided that we didn’t want to endure the crowds and chain Restaurants of the Downtown Riverwalk area. We wanted some place quiet to hang out and relax. Nectar Wine Wine Bar & Ale House fit the bill perfectly. Nectar has a beautiful bar as well as a long high-top table, and a lot of small tables. They also have a couch with chairs around a coffee table and filled with games and books for a relaxing atmosphere. So much so, I want you to think TV Show«Cheers», where everyone knows your name. The owners, Rob and Rachel, are extremely friendly, knowledgeable concerning the wines they carry, and have gone to tremendous lengths to create a place for wine-lovers to hang out and socialize. They offer a large selection of wine both by the glass and bottle. Also they will let you taste any of the by the glass wines if you’re not familiar with them. We tasted their house Pinot Grigio, which was very dry and I ask if they had a bottle of one just slightly sweeter(my definition of slightly sweet is Abt 1% residual sugar content). Rachel quickly picked us out a bottle of an Italian Pinot which she said sold for $ 15 and asked if that was okay… what??? Typically when you get a bottle of wine it costs triple the retail price or higher, but not here. Also unheard of, there are no corkage fees either!!! We ordered and enjoyed a fabulous 3 meat and 3 cheese charcuterie platter complete with lightly candied pecans, fresh blueberries & strawberries, Mini gherkin pickles, and an array of condiments(2 mustards, pickled mustard seeds, comb honey, and pear chutney)(See photo). Served with water crackers. My only criticism would be that Nectar needs to offer something other than water crackers… something like crostini or baguette, or even a house made cracker to complement the charcuteries. For dessert we had the locally made chocolate truffles from Schakolad down the street… OMG forget Godiva these were 10x better. We had 2 sangrias. A bottle of wine, charcuterie tray, and chocolate truffles… 10% discount with Unilocal Coupon. Total cost about $ 60, what a fantastic deal! I can tell you that if we were locals, this is a place we would frequent often, and definitely a place we will visit again when back in San Antonio!!!
