Dinner for 1. — Ambiance(4⁄5) Really cozy environment, though a bit dark for my taste. — Service(5⁄5) Courteous and professional. Very, very quick. — Bread(5⁄5) Awesome. Served with 2 options– a bacon cheddar biscuit and fresh bread with honey butter. Although I didn’t necessarily taste the bacon in the biscuit, it was crumbly and rich. And that honey butter was to die for! — Roasted Poblano Soup, $ 9(4⁄5) Really great soup with chicken and avocado. The roasted poblano flavor really popped. It could have been better with a little less salt. — Elk Steak, $ 44(5⁄5) Not sure I can go back to eating regular steak after this. No gamey taste at all. Just an ever slight sweetness to the meat. Perfectly medium rare. The cauliflower spaetzle, which was described as a mere garnish, is plentiful and can serve as a side unless you’re a Texan who eats a lot! — Value(4⁄5) I think the elk is worth every penny, but the poblano soup might have been slightly overpriced for what it is. — Final Word Very many standouts. Tried in vain to get my work colleagues to dine with me there the next evening. Will be dreaming about that honey butter and that elk.

Bison tenderloin was cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were the creamiest I have ever had. The ambiance is great and so is the staff! Hidden gem of San Antonio

Dinner was very good and dessert was awesome. Split the ribeye with a friend. Someone in our party had the boar shoulder and said it was very good. Lighting in restaurant is too low. We all used our phones to Illuminate the menus

Amazing meal… The flavors were beautiful, the antelope(never had that before!) was perfect– my hubby loved the charcuterie with house-cured bison pastrami. So creative and delicious. Staff was great– friendly, funny, perfectly professional. We are returning tomorrow night for another culinary adventure.

Ate here with my wife tonight. I appreciate how casual it was. Came in with shorts and a t-shirt and no one looked down their noses or anything. Very casual. Avoid flip flops and a tank top and you’re good to go. My wife started with the wedge salad. Which she liked. The portion was on the smaller side, but that’s a good thing for a starter. She had a Hendrick’s and Seven. I had a Hendrick’s and Tonic. Good drinks. Not weak, not too strong. Well made. She had the Sopas. Which she liked. I had the filet mignon, medium, because that’s what I like. Deal with it steak snobs. ;-) The filet was a good two inches thick and cooked perfectly. I would’ve preferred a 4oz, but the 8oz was great. Best steak I’ve had in awhile. Good texturey crust. Sides are on the side. Which is super annoying to me. Feels like being Nickel and dimed. If you wanted to charge $ 60 for a complete plate just do it! We’re from Dallas and no strangers to fine dining but it doesn’t mean I have to like it. That said the mashed potatoes were great. Really creamy and well seasoned. The carrots were so close. They had just the right amount of seasoning, but they tasted like they got it through a salty braise(almost brined?). I felt bad when I asked the chef for salt before realizing who had approached the table but still. A little Maldon would’ve been the better choice IMO. I don’t JUST want it perfectly seasoned, I want the salt to hit the tongue and provide some texture. I figure most of the clientele might be a bit salt conscious being older though and they’re probably catering to them though. Which I can’t fault them for. I might prefer a nice complete plate at Mignon in Plano(my fave French restaurant), but it’s not an issue of skill or inventiveness. This chef/crew is nailing it. They could clearly hold their own at any restaurant I’ve ever been to, wether that’s Dallas, London or Chicago. We have relatives in San Antonio and this was easily the best meal here we’ve ever had. For desert my wife had the cobbler, which was really more of a crumble, but she liked it. I had the pana cotta. That came in a tall plastic cup and was way more than I could eat. All the pieces were there, but plating half as much would’ve done much better IMO. Was it one of the best meals of my life? Not quite. But it was damn good and I’d be happy to eat whatever that crew wanted to put in front of me. Still. Sides on the side suck. I’d rather see what the chef wanted to put together. The price was average for fine dining. Compared to the outrageously priced breakfast buffet at the resort you might even consider it a bargain.

If you want a diverse menu including wild game, you want to try Antlers Lodge. The first thing that got me was the bread. You know, bread is usually generic, a filler. Antlers Lodge bread was, oh damn, glorious. I’m sure someone out there wouldn’t think so, but a staff member told us they have had people substitute their dessert with bread. There were two types, a jalapeño cornbread type roll, and another Italian style cake-like one I loved, with an olive oil butter. I could eat their bread all night. I had an off-menu treat, antelope tenderloin. Tender, cooked and seasoned perfectly. We also had sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. I didn’t mention my wife had what she called her best pork chop ever, and some of her best mashed potatoes ever. She also noticed there were no salt or pepper shakers on the table. Unnecessary. For dessert, I had espresso. Antlers is at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort; it was kind of cool watching the golfers and the kids out on prom nite. All in all, a real nice experience. I’ll eat there again.

Wow. The selection of meats from Elk to Antelope was impressive. I ordered the filet which was cooked to perfection. The mac & Cheese is tasty, but the chipotle Cesar salad is out of this world.

I was with a group of 12 here this past weekend, and we were all very excited to eat here because we have heard good things about Antlers Lodge. We were expecting it to be expensive since we were at a hotel, but let me tell you that it’s over priced, way over priced. The steak tasted great, but a 10 oz is more like an 8 oz, and the 5 oz is more like food for ants. The sides were described as «family style» and could feed 2 – 3 people, but in reality it could maybe feed one. The mashed potatoes looked like they came out of a box and were extremely watered down. The service was slow. It took 2 hours for us to get our food, and the server houdini’d which left our glasses empty for quite some time. Absolutely ridiculous. We didn’t spend $ 100 dollars a piece to leave hungry and thirsty. I would suggest skipping this place and venturing out to a better steakhouse.

I hate to give this place such a low rating because it seems as if a lot of people enjoyed their meal here. We had reservations for a party of 11. The host was extremely uptight, so we were tempted to go elsewhere, but decided to stay. I had the elk tenderloin as did a few of my friends. It was good – not worth raving about(and tiny), but good. Our server was sweet and told us their sides were served«family style» and could feed 3 people. Those sides could feed 3 miniature people and they’d still be hungry. The barbecue Mac and cheese was very good. The beef empanadas were average. No one came to our table to refill wine or water glasses for quite some time but service reappeared to start clearing our table before we had even asked for the check. Some people at our table even asked for bread after the meal because they were still hungry. I just don’t understand what this place is trying to be. It’s overpriced and the food is decent, but the service and attention we received was subpar. Sorry, Antlers Lodge. We left disappointed(with stomachs growling).

Last time I stayed at the Hyatt in San Antonio this restaurant had reduced hours. Not sure if it was because of the big remodel or if it was low season. This is the most expensive and the best restaurant inside of the hotel. I got around the expensiveness by eating salads and side vegetables. The menu is very meat heavy but I was easily able to eat vegetarian there. Everything was full of flavor and the staff was pleasant even though I was definitely eating low budget there. Only downside is the clientele — the first time I ate there there was a guy who looked too much like George W. Luckily he left before my food arrived.

Food was amazing! Only reason that a star is missing was that the service was not as outstanding as the meal. Waiter needed to be reminded a couple of times regarding items ordered. Regardless, we will definitely be back for food and probably a night or two for some relaxation!

Tasty game! I had a delicious meal here(unfortunately sans wine pairings) but I still was raving about it later. I went with the scallop appetizer which was fresh and flavorful despite us being 3 hours away from the gulf. I continued the meal with bison, which was cooked perfectly medium rare. Service was great, incredibly prompt and knowledgeable. …and just to lower the credibility of my review, mmm… meat!

It was just ok. Food was impressive. Service was ok but uninformed. Wine list is very sparse. The crawfish chowder was good. Wild boar was over done. Jalapeño chorizo was neither jalapeño nor chorizo(which I appreciated because I dont like either but the chef insisted it was). The polenta was under seasoned. The fried quail was good. The crème brûlée was soupy.

Excellent food and service. The food was excellent, and the presentation was outstanding. The food is a bit simple, but it’s well executed and very tasty. Service is excellent, and it’s a nice atmosphere.
