Visited on a slow week night. Only a few customers in the place. The décor is gorgeous, but the service was very slow. The waitress was nice & friendly, but I think preoccupied by watching the Spurs game with bar patrons. The food, however was delicious. We shared a lobster bisque soup. More tomatoey than I expected, but It was beautiful & tasty. Two pizzas were ordered with one being a white pizza. It was so good. Medium/thin crust — crunchy crust & just the right amount of a variety of cheeses & olive oil. Can’t remember the other pizza my son had, but he really enjoyed it. Will give it a second try due to the nice server & awesome food.

Very pleasantly surprised by Braza Brava. I would consider myself a pizza connoisseur, I don’t suffer a poor pizza — BB does it right. We had the Roman Artichokes as an app, which were simply fantastic. Marinated artichoke, wrapped in prosciutto with a side of feta cheese, peppers and a very well conceived pesto sauce. Delicious. The first thing you’ll notice is the freshness of the ingredients. In the pizza world, this is paramount. Secondly, the dough is well done and consistent — cooked to the right level in their beautiful brick oven. I honestly don’t have a complaint about this establishment, which is rare for me and pizza in San Antonio. Finally, the wait staff is helpful and very positive. They really made our first time special and were very attentive to our needs. Bravo, Braza Brava.

Fresh ingredients wonderful presentation. This is definitely not your typical pizza joint. And you should be glad. Hahahaha The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. And a shout out to Isela she was a wonderful addition to this evening’s dinner. The waiter Jack is a world of knowledge and just as friendly as any Texan

Spoiled rotten in Italy last summer, eating simple, yet perfect pizza, we have been slogging through the so-called Italian joints in San Antonio in search of edible versions. Braza Brava has all the right stuff; proper ingredients, oak-fired oven, and skills to make great pizza. We tried Salsiccia Piccante and classic Margherita; both were excellent! The house red is a winner as well; La Piuma Montepulciano 2013. We added a salad as an afterthought; fresh greens, crisp green apples and tender salami. Very nice.

The pizza was delicious and is one of my favorite in town now. It’s a bit thicker than the pizzas at Dough and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. The crust was nice and chewy with a good flavor. We also got a salmon dish which was good but couldn’t compare to the pizza. We went early on a Thursday at 6pm and there were only 3 other tables. Our server was friendly and gave some good recommendations. I hope they get a little busier so they stay around. Either way, we’ll definitely be back.

Seriously so good! Ordered 2 pizzas for take out. Pizza was ready in 10 minutes. Why are people waiting an hour for Grimaldis?! You can tell the ingredients are fresh. The dough is delicious. I’m Italian and picky — this pizza did not disappoint! We will be back

Love this place ! My son and I dine here about once a week. It’s perfect for a date night or a low key family dinner. My sons favorite is the margarita pizza and there homemade lemonade. The family who owns the place is very kind and knows us by name. Wine and beer during happy hour. My only suggestion is that the tv in the bar area only plays a specific channel. It would be better if you could play Spurs games during the week.

I LOVE pizza, but I have to stay away from it due to my endometrosis diet(gluten/dairy cause pain in my body) I was craving my fav arugula prosciutto pizza, so my friend suggested a place near the area we were in(I typically don’t try new pizza places if I have one I love… fear of disappointment). This is the BEST arugula prosciutto pizza I have ever had! The dough is made with«00 flour aka dippio zero flour aka double zero flour»(imported from Naples, Italy) This finely grained wheat dough is lighter, fluffier, and easier to digest than traditional pizza dough. They also use Italian water buffalo mozzarella(made with Italian buffalo milk in Italy) which is almost a wetter version of traditional mozzarella, but it is more milky & creamy while having a more of a pungent taste. This pizza is cooked in a woodstone oven imported from Naples where it only takes 60 seconds to cook! Of course we paired this pizza with wine. Riesling for me and a dark dry red wine for him. I am extremely pleased at the service & the food. Not to mention that after eating this, no pain at all. Don’t miss out on this. Head in now and ask for Jack & order the«Pizza Buffala». He is amazing and will give you a break down of the menu, how the food is cooked, and will also tell you the origin of your food. Enjoy! Everytime you eat, you are either FIGHTING –OR– FEEDING a disease. #aboutlastnight #ourfirsttimehere #favoritecomfortfood #authenticfood #ieattheBEST #greatwine #trythisSaturday #qualityproducts #qualityingredients #knowledge #greatfriend2shareitwith #controlwhatgoesinyourmouth #time2startmyBLOG #lovewritingreviews #sophisticatedpallet

This is the best Italian food in Alamo Heights. I know there’s another popular place around the corner, but this is more authentic and much better quality. Their wood-fired oven yields delicious pizzas with a crispy, yet chewy crust. Don’t limit yourselves to their pizza though, their salads and entrees should not be missed. Their house salad(De La Casa) is a wonderful accompaniment to any order. If you’re lucky, their pappardelle and short ribs is on special. That is my favorite dish they make. After my wife tried mine, we had to go back twice in a week so my wife could get her own. To top it off, great wine selections! Also, they have 8 or so beers on tap and they are all local/Texas beers except for Peroni, of course. Some recommendations: Pizza Piccante, Salad Dela Casa, Pizza Carne & the Short Ribs

I had a great time at Braza Brava which very arguably serves the best napoletana style pizza, if not the very best pizza, in SA. Right after walking in, I got a sense that this place would be top notch. The restaurant is well-designed but still retains a cozy feel. It’s upscale all the way, so expect a fine dining experience and the price it comes with. Our server, Jack, was a fantastic host who provided sample beers and a wine. I happened to stop in between lunch and dinner hours, around 3 pm, so I had the place pretty much to myself which also meant very fast service. Both the bruschetta and the Diavola pizza were simply amazing! I didn’t even want to finish chewing any of my bites. The only downside is the price of some of their menu items, particularly the salads, and the price of their beer, which in one case was $ 8 for nearly a pint, and that doesn’t jive with a beer from a small-time local brewery. Either way, still definitely worth stopping in.

Braza… The atmosphere is very dark and definitely has a romantic vibe to it. Perfect for a date night. It was extremely quiet for a Saturday night. My party was the only one there. The music they were playing in the background was nice so it wasn’t too awkward. I love the meatballs. So gooood. A must order if you visit. It was absolutely flavorful. Chorizo pizza was my favorite, it was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The men all loved it. Hehe Genova pizza especially with that pesto is a must. The Nutella pizza was surprisingly tasty. The apple slices complimented well. They also had a nice selection of wine. The service was very attentive. He was nice but extremely pushy which I could understand. The price was a little above average but it’s nice for a couple on a date.

Wow, this place is great. I heard they had the best pizza in town so i went there for that but, I still dont know because once I saw the entrée list I went for that. I had the steak and it was excellent. My wife had the short ribs and they were also delicious. Great job guys.

This place is awesome! They played the best Music. The ambiance is super nice and relaxed, romantic. Definitely recommend the Artichoke Hearts! We ordered the pizza carne and it was good but by no means the most amazing pizza I’ve ever had. But for sure a great find.

This place is ridiculously priced and the service sucks. When I went in there the owner was there, and she’s a Mexican woman that can barely speak any English. The pizzas there are 10″ and 20 dollars. RIPOFF. I was expecting gourmet perfection, but when I opened the pizza boxes, the pizzas were very small and had NOTOPPING on them. Not what I would expect for an expensive pizza that costs that much. I showed the pizza to the owner, and she said«oh yeah that’s suppose to be that way». I was wanting to just ask for my money back but I had starving people to feed at home and didn’t have time after waiting 30 minutes for the food. Bottom line: Just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it’s good. This place is a pretentious business with terrible food and you will waste your money. The owner is probably a woman that inherited some money and has no clue how to run a business. TAKEYOURBUSINESSELSEWHERE. PREDICTION: This place will not stay open long because it’s ultimately poorly ran.

Amazing food, not your typical thick crust pizza but it didn’t need to be, the flavor a were outstanding and married well together. The Nutella pizza is a must have for dessert as well, plus have no complaints about the service and the atmosphere is a very cozy one. Definitely recommend this place!

We came here for a birthday, and it was this, or Dough. Deciding to try a new place, we came to Braza Brava. We came around 2 and it was quiet, one other couple in the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and explained to us the menu! Let me just say that the pizza here was delicious! We shared a margherita pizza with pepperoni and it was just perfect! It was a thin crust and the sauce was so delicious! I bit into my slice that had fresh basil on it and the flavors were really wonderful together. I also ordered Linguini Bolognese and that was yummy too — perfect portion, but the pizza is what really sold me. To me, it feels like a date night atmosphere, but we had a great time. They even surprised the birthday girl with a delicious slice of lemon cake! They were very sweet. I’m totally coming to happy hour to check it out

Go to braza brava about once a month. It’s never too crowded which is nice. The restaurant itself is quaint with a small bar area and a decent size covered patio. Have had the buratta(excellent) comes with a baked tomato, pesto, toast. Beet salad was flavorful, came with my favorite-goat cheese! Their pizzas are amazing. They have a brick oven and about 10 diff pizzas to Choose from– Braza brava comes across as a neighborhood restaurant but in my opinion competes with some of the more known pizza places in town!

Great addition to Alamo Heights! Delicious pizza, caprese and loved the tomato bisque special. Nice wine list and 8 beer taps.

I’ve driven by Braza Brava a few times now, so when trying to figure out a place for date night this was my first suggestion. We came here based on the tips & reviews mentioning their Happy Hour. We walked in and were instantly greeted and told we could seat ourselves. It was about 6:15 on a Friday evening and there were several tables available. I have to say, the décor instantly transports you from a shopping center off of Broadway to a very quaint, but elegant, urban restaurant. I couldn’t stop looking around and taking it all in. We went for the meatballs as an appetizer. They came out and were served with three crostini, I believe the manager is one who brought out our food and let us know if we need more crostini just to let her know. Which we did, as there was four meatballs to the three crostini. We did have to wait a bit to receive the extra crostini, but when we did they were warm and brushed with a light coating of olive oil. This was the first taste of the marinara sauce as well, it had such a nice kick that we ended up using the remaining crostini to clean the plate completely. For our entrée, we opted to share the Calzone Napoletana. I was immediately impressed by how tasty the calzone was. It was stuffed to perfection, all of the meats complimented each other perfectly and the dough was light and airy. My only complaint was that we didn’t receive a side of that amazing marinara to dip our calzone in. We did ask our server, but it took way too long to get out the itsy bitsy side of sauce and all we had left was the edges of the calzone to dip in the sauce. Our server, Jack, was incredibly friendly and helpful. He was very prompt when we asked for refills on water and our wine, he even stopped by right before Happy Hour was over to ask if we wanted to order another glass of wine. He did let us know that they are expanding their wine list and that the next time we are in they will have a larger selection. There are a few drawbacks to Braza Brava that I picked up on during my visit. The first was their beer selection, I wish they had more craft beer on tap, but that’s the beer nerd in me talking. Second, little oversights such as mismatch of the number of crostini to meatballs and not serving sauce with your calzone. If these small things can be refined, it will mean that customers are able to enjoy their meal without having to wait for extras. Next time, I know how to order to minimize my wait, but other customers may experience the same inconvenience that we went through. All in all, I’ll definitely be coming back. I can’t wait to try their pizza! They are definitely going to give the competitor a run for their money, their food is great, the service is friendly, and the price was more than fair.
