Five dollar coverage, bring cash. Mixed drinks are ok. Retro look. There’s an Airstream you can reserve for parties inside the bar. There is plenty of space and it is very spread out, so bring friends. They have a live music schedule.

We were met at the door by a neanderthal looking man asking for our IDs… ok, that’s reasonable. He then proceeded to tell us that a band would be playing later this evening and that if we were still present when they started he would be coming around to collect a $ 7 cover fee. Seems pretty backwards to me! Now we are slamming our beers hoping to be out the doors before the band starts and we are hunted down for extra cash… if the band was good we’d probably stay a while and order more drinks… pretty bad business management, jokes on you!

Fantastic venue. I had a great time, and they bring in superb talent from other areas. The night owls were amazing.

This place was a mixed bag. While I was in town visiting my boyfriend, we took a walk downtown on a Saturday afternoon to scope out places we could hit up in the evening. This place seemed cool from the outside — we walked in and were impressed by the kitschy décor and Airstream trailer. There were no other customers in the bar at the time, but the server on duty let us know there would be live music and drink specials later that night. We were excited about coming back. Once nighttime came, it was a different story. After paying a $ 7 cover each, we searched for a place to sit among the one-note crowd. The band playing was a generic cover group playing the standard crowd pleasers(«Brickhouse,» et al). I walked back to the area with couches, passing a wedding party on the way back and wondering if that area was reserved. The groom and I made eye contact, I smiled, and he said nothing after I had a seat. After we got cozy and made a dent in our drinks, we were informed that the area was indeed reserved for the wedding party. No big deal. I caught the groom on our way back and apologized. He replied, «Oh, I don’t care if you sit there!» which made me chuckle. While looking for a new place to sit, a woman who appeared to be a customer but acted like an employee, reminded us that the couch area was reserved for a wedding party, but pointed out an empty booth that we could occupy. After thanking her, we got settled in once again. Shortly thereafter, an employee came up to us and let us know that another couple had been saving that booth. Once again, we were escorted to a different area. This time it was a plain, lone table in the back area with a few barstools. At this point I was annoyed and asked the server if we would be allowed to stay here. Surprised, she said, «Of course!» and offered us each a drink on the house. I took her offer for two complimentary gin and tonics and convinced my boyfriend to stay for a while(he was, as you can imagine, quite ready to leave). When the drinks came out, they looked like doubles. However, one taste revealed that they were merely club soda garnished with lime. We took the hint that we were not welcome and left. On my way out, I let the server know we had a bad experience. What a waste of money and obviously a place run by the regulars. Will not be returning.

This Bar is a different scene for Angelo and bands are hit or miss. It’s somewhat pricey and the service at the bar is slow and always a wait even if there are not a lot of people. The Owners are very nice and although not my first choice in the area I give it three stars for it daring to be a bit different and definitely worth a visit. Ages vary from 21 to 81 so it’s cool to see all generations having a good time together. Definitely not a place where there will be «bar brawls» of any kind. You can count on that. Wish they wouldn’t have gotten rid of the old thrift stuff and old school hats and stuff that while drinking you could put on and take some memorable pics.

Best bar in town!!! They NEVER choose a bad band, so if we have a free night, we just go, even if we don’t know who’s playing in advance. We’ve never been disappointed. It’s nice and open and not crowded. The bar staff is good and attentive, and the owners are on top of things. Perfect atmosphere for anyone!

Ummm thanks but no thanks. We went in one night and they had maybe two tables full for live music. They wanted to charge us a cover charger. Really? Your bar is dead right now. So we said we don’t have cash can you charge to bar tab and we’ll pay with card. They said cash only for cover. So we left and they got $ 0. Not smart business.

What a kewl place! We were there for a birthday party and had an absolute blast. Having a well just for walk-up at the guests at the bar helped getting a drink quickly. The old school highballs with the old school ice cubes were a nice touch, but eventually got on my nerves as they got in the way of my beverage.

Although this place is closed on Mondays, the owner was available and let us in after seeing my friend and I peer in the window. Both my friend and I love retro so we loved looking around this shop and, of course, we couldn’t get out of there without making a purchase. We bought a cool retro desk chair that swivels, an unusual shaped orange vase, and a turquoise blue coffee pot for my retro coffee pot collection. The owner was so nice to let us in on her day off and was very helpful letting us know some of the other unusual shops that would be open on a Monday and also letting us know where to go eat and have a drink.

WOW! Was I lucky enough stumble across this mid-century modern mecca in San Angelo, TX! I was in town for business and had a little extra time before heading out of town. I had seen a number of antique shops after driving through town, so decided to check them out. I walked into one and asked about mid-century/retro goods. The woman working at the shop referred me to her daughter’s place next door, Fifi’s. Fifi herself was out of town and the shop was closed, but her mother offered to open up the shop and show me around! Oh thank you, thank you! You made my day! Fifi’s was AMAZING! The store houses a HUGE selection of retro furniture, accessories, and even clothing! I was told that the ambiance is great when the store is actually open, playing 50’s music and showing old 50’s sitcoms on the retro televisions(just like my grandmother used to have…). I purchased two lamps, which mom happily boxed up for me(safe for the plane ride home). And the prices are great… so much cheaper than you’ll find anywhere in Austin. I wish I could visit Fifi’s every week. If you’re ever in San Angelo, you MUST check it out! Luckily, they post their merchandise online and hold items, so I anticipate a trip to San Angelo in the future… =)
