This place always hits the spot! The lamb is so good. The beef kabobs are probably my favorite though. I would recommend giving it a try. The owner is always very friendly.

Alright folks, I am going to give a very honest review for these guys. I have been here a few times now. Let me start saying their food tastes extremely delicious, hands down! There hasn’t been better Halal restaurant around town that can match their level of delicacy. I gotta give it to them for that. Now, let’s talk about their striking shortcomings. Their service sucks, period. The guy, Aamir, is cheerful and all that but he’s the only one that works there and as you can imagine, it will take forever to get your food on the table. Even when I call them beforehand to place a dine-in order for a group of 10 – 12 people, it still took some time before we could dig in. Secondly, they have a very small portion of whatever you order. So, if you’re like me who loves to have their tummy full after you leave the place, you will certainly get disappointed. For $ 12 — $ 13 bucks, this is probably the least amount of food you can get at a Pakistani restaurant; and trust me, I have been to many of ‘em. Their ambience is not that great. When I say«it’s not that great», I guess I’m just being modest here; ‘cuz the ambience is horrible. I would have given them a 1-star. But their authentic and delicious food makes up for their poor rating on other aspects.

Best food place I have been so far in the Salt Lake City — if you are a Pakistani /Indian spicy food lover(and even if u don’t want much spices, you can ask for it at the time of ordering). Have been there twice and cant get enough of it! The cutest thing about the restaurant is that there is a couple who runs it with no other staff and they are so friendly and easy to talk to — I mean you always feel like you are back home having homemade food with your family!

I went here with my family while on a road trip. So me it had almost 5 stars decided to come here. The worst Pakistani and Kashmiri food I have ever tried. I don’t know where to start. From customer service to the food. They opened up more than an hour late then they took their sweet time preparing the food. We asked for buffet but they brought us mixed canned vegetable with rice which was plan just colored ad called it biryani lol the only thing fresh was the kabobs which were super salty. The naan had garlic salt on it which was also ready made and didn’t seem fresh. Once we left the place couple of us had stomach issues. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Needing good food I remember some spicy smells from here, and made the hike to hunt down and try something new. Very much worth my time. The owner(I’m assuming) is super nice, and directs me to his menu. I ordered samossa chat and vegi combo, and he asked me how hot I wanted my order. Being a white guy 80% of the time I get ‘Utah white guy hot’ which is slightly less hot than ketchup… But not here. I got a fantastic plate of flavor and spice. Very good place to escape the monotony of corporate food. Very warm and family centric atmosphere. I don’t like tv’s at all and consider it a horrible scourge plaguing these small establishments… Rant over. I will certainly be back soon, very soon

We came in and had a wonderful meal. Everything that we tried was delicious. The owner was really nice. We will be back to try some more.

Very disappointed after visiting the place. I cannot review the food as I couldn’t push myself to sit in that place. Very messy, unclean, smelly place. We went on a Saturday evening after reading all great reviews, but it turned out to be a shock. Not even a single table was occupied. The place smelled of all the smoke from the kitchen. I really wish I had an idea about this before visiting.

I just love the husband and wife duo that run this hole-in-the-wall authentic Pakistani and Kashmiri cuisine restaurant. They’ll remember your face and thank you for coming back. They’ll remember your name and even tell you that you look like their cousin. And they’ll remember what you like to eat and even make special off-menu items for you to try(like garlic naan and rice mixed with vegetables). They’re over-the-top friendly so it doesn’t even matter when you have to ask them twice or three times for the drink you ordered because your mouth in on fire with the delicious spiciness of the Veggie Splash. Really, I tend to overlook Zaika when we’re considering our dinner options, but it’s my partner who keeps bringing us back. Their Kabob(or Kofta) is his favorite and we also love the freshly-made Naan and Veggie Splash dishes(as previously mentioned). Next time, I’ll also want to try the Saag. Don’t come here expecting Indian food. While there is some crossover with the name of menu items(Samosa, Naan, Saag) and a plethora of curries. The flavor profiles are entirely different, and considerably spicier. A medium or level-2 spiciness here would be a «spicy» or even«very spicy» at someplace like Bombay House. Lastly, take advantage of the willingness of the owners to make any item to appease you and their excitement about making new things. What’s listed on the menu is only the baseline for the variety of delicious concoctions they can whip up in their kitchen. Note: There are a couple of negative reviews on Unilocal specifically complaining about the bones in the meat(chicken). Just FYI — you can request any chicken dish to be boneless and they’ll use chicken breasts, but I personally find the darker meat with bones to be tastier and more traditional.

The staff is incredible, so attentive and caring. They offered a few barbecue kabobs as appetizers, we assumed it was a cute way to test our spice threshold since they were awfully curious whether we could handle it. They truly care about the food they prepare and that their customers are satisfied.

The family who owns this place are pretty nice people usually. Very pushy with up selling on things like drinks and desserts. It’s always really dark in here, and I don’t like that too much. The food packs some good flavor, but is super oily, and it kind of detracts from the meal a lot.

OK you don’t come to this place because of the deco it’s kind of hard to find it’s next to a Mexican restaurant but there food is awesome if you’re looking for Pakistani type food. The owner came and took our order very very pleasant man explained menu to us very comfortable talking with him he suggested some stuff and we went with it. I got the lamb chops my wife got the Kashmiri Buryani. We totally enjoyed our food. And since this is a hole in the wall wait there’s only two other couples in the restaurant we got served quickly and I think the owners really trying to impress us so again the food was awesome so I totally recommend this place if you are looking for Pakistani food. I like this place Tim

While most who pull into this strip mall are overcome by the large Mexican restaurant dominating the block, a closer look reveals a small gem nestled adjacent to its larger neighbor, Zaika Grill n’ Kebab. With the words«narrow is the road» echoing in my head, I went inside, and I am glad I did. The casual ambient is saturated with the rich Pakistani culture that the owners, a couple who run the place, compliment. We were handed a menu, where I was greeted by the pleasant sight of reasonably low prices and authentic options. Once choosing a special combo of kebab, chicken(cooked on a tandoori) and rice, we sat down to a table of our choosing. Both the husband and wife were courteous and dignified, qualities which permeated their restaurant and food, respectively. The food arrived, and though the presentation was not stellar, the subtle textures and rich tastes, as well as the spice, made for a satisfying meal. One small criticism I must make is the lack of ventilation that caused me to stifle: all the vapor and thick smoke from cooking remained within the small space. Besides that, which unfortunately prevents me from giving a fifth star, I recommend this quaint local grill.

The good: — homemade style. — family owned — they will make your order in front of you — very friendly — food is amazing(I suggest mutton karahi) — they will adapt spice level to your taste The bad: — not the fanciest part of town

Low carb diet? Halal? Zaika is the place! The couple who owns the place are super nice, and will take the time with you to order to your liking. Thank you! I ordered an assortment of lamb, and beef, and chicken kebabs, as well as a whole chicken which they did in a clay oven, delicious! The minced meat I got was a bit salty and overseasoned for my taste, but I think that’s how it’s supposed to be? The owner asked me how spicy I wanted my meat. When I told him medium, he asked«utah medium?» :) Great food, nice people. The only drawback was while I was there, some guy was up at the counter just flipping through TV channels the entire time. Then he’d put on some nice music from the Arab world, and right when I’d start getting into it, he’d change the channel. Then he got to Reggae, started listening, then he’d change it again! Just leave it in one spot, and put down the remote!

I was browsing thru (old Happenings book company) for a place to eat in SLC. Found Zaika Grill N’ Kebab was highly rated & had a BOGO offer I could print. I took it into the restaurant, but the owner said it wasn’t his logo & it was a fake offer. These offers from Happenings have a 1−800# for retailers to call & an individual validation code for each printout. if you have ever been accused of being a counterfeit couponer it isn’t the best feeling in the world. I said fug it & decided to get something anyways. I gotta admit my ignorance to the difference between a kabob(ingredients cut into pieces on a skewer) vs kebab(roasted meat). I ordered a single chicken ‘kebab’ to go that was about $ 6. The kebab was made in a really cool tandoori oven to my custom level of spicy. Was given an upgrade to a combo since I think the owner realized I wasn’t there to rip him off with fake offers. The chicken kabab was a ground chicken with spices in the shape of a giant sausage. It was very tasty as was the rice & other sides in the combo. I don’t hold a grudge on the offer fiasco. Hopefully the next time someone comes in with an offer it is honored. Really good food & something different. Worth your time & business for sure. Hooray for no bland food.

When I first walked into the place was super empty around 7 pm. The food portion is very small for the price they are charging. As for the cleanliness of the place… it is questionable. The plates doesn’t look that clean. The water is serve in plastic solo cups and it look also dirty. Now for the food itself. We order chicken Karahi, chicken buryani, garbanzo beans, chicken kabob, naan, and shami kabob. The portion is very tiny. It wasn’t all that good also. I could have had better at either Kathmandu or some place like that. Totally not worth it. I would have to super think about coming back.

After 4 days off awful tasting food, me and my wife were glad we found this place. very very great food. The lamb meat was so soft and juicy and surprisingly so was the chicken. If I could give it 100 stars I would. mmmmmm so delicious :) Also very humble people(the owners) the wife made us feel like we were earing at her home. And the husband was very attentive.

I visited Zaika Grill ‘N Kebab again this week with a friend and we had an amazing experience. When we met at the restaurant for dinner at 5, it wasn’t quite open for business yet, but we came back at 5:30 and were greeted warmly by one of the owners. The individualized attention we received from the woman made it feel as though we were eating in her home. She asked about our preferences regarding spice levels and protein and made suggestions from there, as well as explaining in great detail the differences between Pakistani and Indian food. We wound up ordering lamb karahi, a chicken kebab, samosas, and naan. Everything was very good, particularly the lamb dish, which was spicy but complex. I want to bring all of my friends here! Will definitely be back.

4 of my brothers and my dad were all craving some Pakistani food so we went over to Zabiha Grill in West Valley and they were full and couldn’t serve us. They were celebrating a holiday as everyone was dressed very nicely. Quickly checking Unilocal we found this place and quickly headed over. We came in with high expectations seeing the reviews and hoping it would be just like Zabiha Grill or even better. We ordered about 12 items and really were so hungry. It took over 1 hour just to get our first item, we were the only ones in the restaurant. We were hoping it would be so awesome that it took that long only to find out it was just average tasting and missing simple salt and seasoning. The couple were both very nice and attentive, sadly the food wasn’t worth the very long wait. Maybe we came on an off night as most places have them. Would like to try it again and give them another chance.
