I love this place. Better than Takashi or any other of the local more expensive joints. Try the dragon balls, the Wok n Roll, and any of the donburi bowls. You can’t go wrong with anything here.

I love this place. It’s got a great environment, awesome servers, and really delicious food. I suggest the following: Firecracker Calamari– it’s got a really great spice mix in the batter they fry it in, comes with jalapeños and 3 types of dipping sauce. Lowrider Roll — off menu item, one of the best rolls. Just get it. Vermicelli Noodle entrée — thin rice noodles in a big bowl with mixed greens, vegetables and protein of choice, with a lemongrass curry sauce that is SO good! Poki Salad– their dressing is super good Filet Mingon over wok fried string beans and saffron fried rice. Plus the new bar Next Door, connected to the restaurant, is awesome too! New beautiful craft cocktail lounge with fantastic drinks!

You know those moments where you thank Buddha or whatever higher being you believe in or just went with your gut instinct to avoid a what could’ve been a catastrophic event? Yeah well this is not one of those moments. It’s been a looooooongggggg time since I dined here and I think the universe was giving me signs that there were reasons to why that was. First sign — I was craving catfish in a clay pot and thought Sapa was a good choice. It’s obvious that I have not been here in awhile because this item was not even on the menu anymore. This one was MYBAD! Second sign — Their mango with black sticky rice is probably one of the best in the states and I really wanted it. Well, I guess this was a seasonal item and they didn’t have it at the time. Okay I will say this one is MYBAD as well for not knowing the seasons where mangos will or will not be available? Third sign — Ended up ordering sushi because the entrees were not so appealing. Got the edamame, wok n roll, black dragon, and another roll I can’t remember. What killed all of the rolls was the sushi rice, it was way too dry. The black dragon had tiny bits of eel on it and the tempura shrimp was so oily in the middle. What irks me is the fact that I could have gone to Takashi and got plain eel nigiri for better quality, better quantity, and for less the price that I was charged for the black dragon roll as a whole. Or I simply could have gone to Fat Fish for the same exact rolls and it would have been ten times better. But you know what, this one I will say MYBAD too for betraying Takashi and eating sushi at another place :( Honestly, I know Sapa is popular and they cater to a certain population and it works for them, evidenced by their continued business. The edamame was good and the service was amazing. This whole experience was basically my fault for not seeing that the stars were not aligned and all the signs were there to not eat here so Sapa, MYBAD.

This place is better than most sushi places in Salt Lake City. The interior design is good and service was also good. 3.5 to 4 star place for Salt Lake! What I really disliked was that some of the rolls and the baked muscles were just loaded with mayo. Why? Please fix this Sapa sushi. Thank you!

I met a friend here for dinner on a weeknight and it was pretty empty. The waitress was attentive without being overbearing, the service was quick, and the sushi was fine. I found the sushi rolls to be good but not outstanding. The price was comparable to other local sushi places.

It was an amazing experience! Sat at the bar and Sendi took care of us, do yourself a favor and ask him to just make you something! It is truly art and skill.

Best sushi I’ve ever had! Including when I lived in California. When you walk in the door it looks so fancy that you’d think it would be expensive but they have the most reasonable prices on rolls. Get the shrimp crunchy roll and the dragon balls with eel sauce for sure! Get the mex roll too if you like spicy. Soooo good, I have moved away from the city but I recommend this place to everyone and I would give anything to find a place just as good.

I had the small sashimi lunch, $ 16, just nine small fillets of fish and nothing else beside grated daikon. Totally dis-satisfied the lack of substance, although the fish was fresh. The menu was pretty limited and I didn’t see much that I was interested in. Doubt I’ll be back.

Absolutely love this place. I make it a point to come here every week when I travel to Utah. The food is great and service is phenomenal. The manager James has great recommendations for food if you don’t know what to pick and will take care of you if anything is messed up.

My boyfriend and I went to Sapa’s this last Saturday night, the night before Valentine’s Day, and were surprised that we were able to get a table in a timely manner. I loved the décor of the restaurant as well as the friendly staff. Our waitress, Amoiri, was very knowledgable about the menu and was able to offer suggestions for sushi rolls based off of items we were already set on. She kept conversation light and consistently checked on us, which was surprising given that the restaurant was so busy. We had chosen the Jalapeño Bombs for our appetizer, a must try for all«spicy» lovers. For the rolls we chose: Daizee, Mojo, Spider, and the Low Rider(an off menu item recommended by our waitress). I felt blasé about the Daizee roll, but the other three were great and tasted very fresh. I was very impressed with our meal and service and will absolutely be coming back again.

It’s a three and a half star place, but I like to round up! Overall, this was a good experience. Good food, good service and nice ambiance. The place was really busy with a quoted 30 minute wait when we arrived, but the host offered us seats at the bar and that was fine. The only quibble was the pace: We received our appetizer and our rolls within 30 seconds of receiving our starter of miso soup. Not a big deal, we took our time anyway, but we felt somewhat rushed. Reviews saying Sapa is overpriced are wrong… there is definitely good value here. We had two soups, one app, two rolls and two glasses of wine for $ 45. It was our first time and we will definitely try it again.

Oh Sapa! This is good sushi at a great price. I love the Dragon Balls, they are deep fried and amazing! They also offer Japaneses beers and cocktails that are super fun. If you like ginger you should get the GIn GIn cocktail. Our waitress was good but eager to get rid of us on a busy night but usually we have no problem hanging around and drinking.

Definitely overpriced, under staffed, and average Japanese fusion type food(forgot to mention, I’m biased in this review because I had fresh sushi/sashimi in CA only a few days before). My party and I were seated near the entrance of the door. So, whenever the door opened, we’d feel a blast of 20 – 30 degree air for a prolonged period of time, which did 2 things: 1) Cooled down our food FAST 2) Froze the 6 of us seated by the door When asked to close the door, or control the crowd, the waiter shrugged and said, «sorry, there are too many people outside.» Precisely the point ol’ chap. Step out, keep the door closed, send one waiter or waitress outside to get the next group in, etc. The food, as mentioned, was average sushi. I had a steak, Hawaiian, and Californian themed role(see photo) and those turned out a little bland, and of course, cold. How do I come back? There’s unlimited AYCE(all you can eat) sushi on weekdays for about an hour and a half(5p to 6:30p I believe?) but that’s for another discussion.

Cool vibe, fun atmosphere, some creative rolls, fun drinks from the connected bar next door. Waitstaff was friendly but the place was pretty swamped, so a bit slow on responsiveness. Moderate prices. Ask for the hidden menu options!

Good food for your money. Sapa provides good quality sushi for your money with a great atmosphere. Their rolls are moderately priced with a good variety, but they also have great non sushi options as well. IMO the imperial roll is the best. As for non sushi eaters Drunken Noodles are to die for and I have a hard time getting anything else. Also FYI the buffet is a great deal! $ 23.95 Mon-Thurs from 5 – 6:30 all you can eat soups, salads, appetizers, and sushi rolls. They also have takeout when you are in desperate need for drunken noodles! I did get sushi to-go once and it was slightly disappointed with the quality But the drunken noodles were !

I was on vacation in Salt Lake city and we stopped by for some sushi. Place is clean and nice. We ordered so much sushi because we wanted to try different types. Everything was delicious so whatever you decude to go with, is a good choice. Great service also. Thank you.

Americanized. The sushi combination, the rolls, and the agedashi tofu were all OK. Pork gyoza was decent, gave it 4 stars. The food was tasted decent but it definitely leans more towards asian fusion and caters towards Americanized tastebuds. With sushi, I tend to favor more Japanese style if possible/available so I think that’s why I did not have an excellent experience. The service was good, our waitress brought out our food in a timely mannner, checked up on us from time to time, and she was friendly. The ambience is probably the selling point of this restaurant. From the outside and the neighborhood it is located in, I would never imagine the inside of the restaurant to look so chic. Almost reminded me of Las Vegas asian fusion restaurants. I won’t cross Sapa off my list. I will come here when I’m in the mood for rolls and beers.

Why oh why did I wait so long to visit this wonderful establishment? That’s a question I’m now asking myself, but no worries, I plan to be back often and to recommend Sapa to my friends here in Utah… Everything about Sapa was overly positive. The atmosphere, quality of sushi, staff, ownership and prices give Sapa FIVESTARS! We had the Firecracker Calamari for an appetizer… Very impressed with the accompanying sauces, and the mixture of jalapeños with the rings and tentacles… Then we moved onto four house rolls and a small sashimi platter. Sashimi is the best way to judge a restaurant’s sushi and it did not disappoint one bit. Fresh, flavorful and thinly sliced. Our favorite roll was the UFO which had mango in it. And of course, no sushi is complete without Orion beer from Okinawa. So grateful that Sapa carries this forgotten and overlooked brew! Bryson was a very talented, capable and personable server. He’s a keeper! Cannot wait to try the outdoor courtyard area the best time!

So much wrong with this place– where do I begin?! The entrance was really very dark and sketchy. The food is average at most. Presentation is great but rolls are caloric and lacking in flavor. Also everything had too much mayo, sauces and other stuff. Not a fan.
