Love this place. I work nearby and am constantly finding new gems here. Dont do much shopping although they do from time to time have good deals on fruit and veggies. Hit and miss. Their marinated meats are good and cheap. The cafeteria is really good. Service is verrrrrrry slow so make sure you block out at least an hour. This stuff is also very authentic and SPICY. Make sure you sample the meats etc before you order. On fridays, sat and sun they have a soup called pozole. ITISOUTOFTHISWORLDGOOD. Think hispanic comfort food. They also have fresh fruit juices, think they refer them to aguas frescas. Dont care for the cantoloupe, jimica, horchata or papaya, but if they have watermelon GETIT! Large with no ice. Life changing. Hope this helps!

I love the restaurant inside the market. They have great tortas and tacos. Service is a little slower than expected so be patient. Food quality is surprisingly good given the low prices. I also found the portion sizes to be a good value.

I’ve always been a fan of The Rancho Market chain. The selection of goods is small, but they have great produce at unbeatable prices. Nowhere else I’ve been can I get a pound of apples every day for 69 cents or six pounds of onions for 99 cents. I also love glass bottle Mexican sodas here, especially piña and mango. The staff is really friendly and helpful, even for us guapas. ;)

I hate to be the second reviewer of any place, especially after the first reviewer had such things to say. I am sorry to say that I had a completely different experience as the other Unilocaler who reviewed this market before I did. I guess that the best thing I can say about this market is that it is not as huge as a Smiths store or supermarkets of that kind, and perhaps it does have a little bit of the local neighborhood grocery charm to it, however, I must tell you of my experience the other day. It was fairly early in the morning kama about 8:30 a.m. I had left my house in the morning without having any breakfast, & I generally like to start my day with at least a grapefruit or some sort of fruit. Now, my experience with produce spans the whole world. I lived in India for four years, and got used do, unfortunately, some pretty sorry looking fruit and vegetables. I went straight to the grapefruit, which from a distance looked like they might be okay. To be perfectly honest, when I grabbed the first couple of grape fruits in the pile, I was more than a little shocked. This fruit was old. Toward the bottom of the pile, the grapefruit was actually squishy and was growing green mold. Not the type of fruit I am used to getting here at Smiths or Emigration Market or Whole Foods. It was so bad that I decided not to have grapefruit for breakfast, but went across the aisle to grab a granny smith apple. I had to dig around for a little bit to find one that was not bruised or soft or poorly colored. I did buy one, & I ate it on my way to my morning appointment. Granny Smiths are my favorite apples and I have to say that this Apple tasted nothing like a Granny Smith, it tasted more like biting into a wax candle.

Honestly, I’m kind of shocked that nobody has reviewed this spot yet. I recently moved to the west side and am excited to be just a few blocks from this grocery store. I’d been in here a few times before because it’s kind of by where I work, and I’d been quite fond of their meat selection. They have a lot of organ meats and other unique cuts that are hard to find elsewhere, as well as a good selection of pre-seasoned stuff for when I’m feeling extra lazy. Now that I’m in the neighborhood, I decided to come in here to see how much of my normal weekly grocery shopping I can get done here. The answer: just about all of it. They have a large selection of good, inexpensive produce. I was particularly impressed with the avocados I got(’tis the season!). They also have bottles of Topo Chico, which I didn’t even realize was available in Utah. They seem to have a lot of your basic staples, too, so it’s not just a specialty market. I’ll still have to go to Smith’s for a few things, but it seems like I can do most of my shopping here. I have not yet tried the restaurant inside the place, but that will change soon!
