I stopped in at 6PM on a weekday and it was busy but not jam-packed. It does seem popular though and I bet it does get busy often. You place your order with the cashier and leave your name and then wait. They seem to have a young, fun staff(I was presented with my order by a goofy guy with a funny flourish, ha!). I ordered the 6″ meatball sub. I’d normally do the footlong but I had a suspicion I would be eating a second dinner so I kept it light. There was nothing I didn’t like about this sandwich; bread was soft but substantial, sauce was tangy, flavorful with a hint of sweetness, cheese was melty and tasty, and the meatballs were perfect. I didn’t see any of the pottery mentioned in the DDD segment. By the way, they have a 2nd restaurant south of here in Midvale. The SLC one is the one that was featured on DDD though. Most likely their popular stuff is great(meatball sub, Philly cheese) but I would be a little skeptical of the less popular items. However, if I lived nearby I would try them all just to see :-) Pro tip: I actually got on-street parking right in front, but it seems there are probably some good parking spots around the corner(S Roberta). There is a lot behind the restaurant but I didn’t check to see if it was for residents or the restaurant.

Wow! I can see why Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives paid a visit here! Their philly cheesesteak is incredible! And their sauces make everything better! I finally got the chance to try Moochie’s a couple days ago, and I wasn’t disappointed! Definitely the best thing I tried was the philly. We also had their meatball sandwich and that was good too, but not quite up to par compared to the philly. The jalapeño sauce is incredible! Usually jalapeño things just overpower everything, but this sauce was a perfect addition to the philly cheesteak. Their fries are also delicious, and they have their own special fry sauce. They have birch beer, which was very cool to see. I tried it, and unfortunately it was obvious that the machine was running out of syrup as it was very watered down. However, I could tell I would have liked it. I definitely have a bucket list for my next times here: The Reuben, Hot Pastrami & Swiss, and fried ravioli. What a gem!

Delicious! I’ve been wanting to go here for quite some time. But every time I drove past, there was a line out the door and the parking looked difficult. So I decided I had to plan in advance. My coworkers and I went last Friday at 11:30. Parking was easy breezy because there is plenty of street parking surrounding the restaurant. Even at that earlier lunch hour, it was packed! We could barely get in the door. My friend and I shared both the cheesesteak and the meatball sub so we could try both. The cheesesteak was really good, but it was pretty soggy. Maybe that’s the authentic way, but the bread was a bit too drenched for my liking. BUTTHEMEATBALLSUB. Here’s the thing. I don’t really like meatballs and I’ve never been motivated to try a meatball sub. Here at Moochie’s, it’s very simple. Two HUGE meatballs(as in 3″ wide) with a delicious marinara and provolone cheese melted on top. The meatballs were so, so flavorful. I had several bites of just meatball and I didn’t even mind it. And the marinara. It was good enough to be a pasta sauce too. I wanted to bottle some up and take it home. A few downsides: This location is packed. It was real tricky getting a table and trying to fill up drinks and get forks, etc. I was running into someone at every turn. So maybe avoid the lunch rush. Lastly, I smelled like meat the rest of the day. My clothes, my coat, my hands(even after I washed them multiple times). It was a great sandwich but maybe don’t sit too close to people in the conference room after lunch and you’ll be good.
