I normally really love this place but last night I ordered the smothered chicken burrito and was really disappointed. Normally I would just order a smothered burrito without chicken but this time I thought«hell, I smothered burritos and I love chicken, this is ingenious!» I was wrong my friends. The shredded chicken was cold and soggy and also dominated the whole burrito. I felt more like I was eating a lightly microwaved plate of chicken with a soggy tortilla wrapping it than I was eating a tasty burrito. In the mean time my girlfriend was complaining about how mediocre her chimichanga was. I will return at some point, but I definitely won’t order that ever again. I also prefer many of the other sister locations over this location by far.

Waitress Rude! Cashier couldn’t be more rude! Never ever again! Been going for years, but they couldn’t careless! Just going to La Frontera forever!

Fast service! We got it togo and they had it ready in 5minutes, so great. Must have their smothered chicken burrito. mmmm. Truth be told my husband ordered it, but I cleaned his plate. Their best kept secret is the sarsaparilla! It’s a must.

This location is never open when they claim they’re going to be. Either they are opening late or closing early. Someone else is earning our business.

This is the most consistent Mexican restaurant I have been to and for that I give 5 stars! The food always tastes great and u always know just what u are getting, unlike the many other«hit or miss» establishments in the area! The prices are very reasonable and the service is great!

This is an average Mexican place. The ingredients are pretty generic and not very distinguishable. Not sure I would go back if I had a choice. I was getting my car fixed across the street and it was really convenient.

Solid 3 stars here. Their fajitas would be a solid 4. The food is consistent, we always get a table, fast service and leave full. After an atrocious Mexican food dining experience at a so-called«3.5 stars» restaurant, we have learned to be grateful for what we call, «our favorite Mexican dive.» I only have ever ordered the fajitas, and the chicken and shrimp combo is delicious. Spring for the guac; very fresh and delicious. Stay away from the margaritas. I ordered one once after being a bit buzzed from drinking my own. Syrupy disgusting-ness. So, stay away from the margs, but really – order the fajitas. You won’t be disappointed!

This place about 2.3 stars, so I’m rounding to the nearest 2. The service and prices are 4 stars, easily, but the food just isn’t. It’s really Americanized and everything is smothered in cheese. They’re a step above the most popular smothered burrito place, since they offer shredded beef and not just hamburger. Unfortunately, their shredded beef is basically pot roast. No seasoning, no real flavor, no spice, nada! There is nothing authentically Mexican about the food here. If you’re looking for a gigantic portion of bland, basic food, smothered in cheese, this is the place for you. If you want something daring, tasty, bold, spicy, etc… look elsewhere.

I came to this restaurant with a friend. We ordered nachos with chicken as an appetizer to share. They were very bland and flavorless. As our main dish we split pork enchiladas. We dug in immediately after it was brought to our table and the food tasted stale and it wasn’t even warm. There was no taste in the meet what so ever. You couldn’t even tell the difference between the pork on the enchilada and the chicken on the nachos. Service was not the best either. Definitely won’t be going back and I don’t recommend it either.

I love their chile verde, chiles rellenos, and cheese enchiladas. Service is quick and nice. I’ve never had to wait for a table.

La… Que??? Of all the contestants in this weird family of «home made in a yucky way», Chile Verde-con-Pan-Fried-Lard hotcake dough tortilla and Uncle Ben’s rice-style, Wasatch Front/Northern Utah area spinoffs fiercely competing for the crown of «Best» of this type of hole in the wall Mexican joint, I must say I admire this one the most, and give it an A for effort, solely for the fact that these guys actually manage to RIPOFFANDECLIPSEALLOFTHEIRCOMPETITORSATONCE with their name, sign, and logo: «La Fountain» looks like La Frontera in the cursive font on the sign, and translates to «La Fuente» in Spanish, which sounds and looks like La Puente; and so on, and so forth, etc. etc. etc. Do I need to go any further? Can I? I will never get what it is with these places, but people seem to like the food. I personally would go to Rio Grande if I found myself craving this stuff, but, Whatevs. I’m a snob of sorts, I guess. Big up ya self La Fountain, Fuente, or whatever you’re called. Cheers!

We all know the food is subpar. But it’s impossible to stop. In high school, my diet was made up almost exclusively of the amazingness that is the smothered burrito. It’s so simple… tortilla, beans, and chile verde. Thats it. And somehow its the best thing ever. The restaurant itself is fun to go to. The employees are nice, and the menu is pretty big. I’ve only eaten a handful of entrees, but i’ve enjoyed them all. Luckily for picky eaters, if you can’t find anything on the menu to enjoy, the chips and salsa are enough. The tortilla chips are made in-house, and the salsa would be good even if it were eaten off a hot tire. It’s served cold, but has nice spice to it. This really isn’t the place to go if you’re looking for anything unique or fancy but it’s a great spot for a quite bite.

All of the La Puentes(I see this is coming up as La Fountain now, evidently some sort of name change — I’m referring to it as it was prior to that name change), unlike the La Frontera, which vary more wildly, tend to be more consistent. As the story goes, it’s 1 recipe and 2 families, since 1 splintered, churning out the smothered burritos. If you’re familiar with La Frontera, you’re familiar with these, with the following exceptions: This particular location is slightly dingy. Maybe they’re attempting for mood lighting. The actual«chile verde» here tends to be meatier, less fatty and slightly spicier. The salsa continues to vary wildly from day to day, but it tends to get hotter here, when it’s on. Everything here seems to taste considerably fresher than La Frontera. Other than that, same deal. A big plate of food for not a lot of money and a race to see if you will fill yourself up on chips before the actual entrée’ arrives. Since there is nothing about eating here that can be considered particularly healthy, know that going in you’re looking at packing a day or more’s worth of calories if you go in for one of these and this applies to here or La Frontera. Again, unless you happen to have a taste for junk(we all get it), best to keep looking…

I have to say I am very disappointed in this weird Utah custom of placing a ketchup squeeze-bottle of runny salsa on the table. At least at La Fountain(the new, new name, same owners) the salsa was spicy. Other places it has literally tasted like ketchup. The chips have some paprika or something sprinkled on them, which I also don’t understand. I had a taco salad and it was decent. I really liked the carne asada, very tender. I was surprised the taco salad didn’t contain beans. Just meat in the bottom, lettuce, tomato and some sour cream and guac on top. Beans would be a nice addition. Service was great, our server Guillermo was a pleasure. It’s fast and cheap, and though not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, I would probably go back for those reasons.
