Visited Cowboy Grub after a long hiatus and their move to the new location. Not impressed. Instead of a waitress taking your order you now order your meal before being seated. I prefer being able to order my meal as I sit instead of feeling rushed because people are waiting behind me. Prices charged for dinner are high for a order first, seat yourself restaurant. Then you turn around and immediately make your salad bar: just don’t hope for a great selection of items and that they are being refilled and refreshed. Ordered pot roast which was good; vegetables were placed on plate without being drained so excess water was able to spread over mashed potatoes and meat. My wife enjoyed her chicken but the overall experience was negative.

The new location may not have the same charm as the old one, but it is now much more light and spacious. I love the new ordering process — just step up, place your order, and they’ll bring it out to you. Don’t miss the salad bar, as it has a lot of tasty and fresh ingredients. If you’re in the mood for not-so-healthy offerings, they have Mexican food, pot pies, creamy soups, and great sandwiches. We always get treats to go, like their terrific brownies or sugar cookies. This is a great restaurant for families or anyone looking for some homestyle, classic food. Takeout is quick and easy, too!

I’ve been a customer who loves what they go through to to make the food I love. I’ve seen many important people enjoying the cuisine, people who can afford to go anywhere. It’s home made food at it’s best. Best salad bar and cornbread in town, and I drive 60 miles to get there. Thanks for the last forty years, thank heaven they’re back, it was a long fast. PS Here’s a tip: Buy the salad with a dinner and ask them to upgrade it to the larger size, then share with a friend. I

First time in the new location. If you set expectations you won’t be disappointed. Had the obligatory salad bar in the wagon and enjoyed it. Fresh ingredients and a wide variety for every taste. The nachos were baked and done right, didn’t love the ground beef on them however. The best thing tonight was the cornbread, which is really really really good cornbread. Yes that was 3 «really“s. The service is also excellent. The food is diner style and good if that’s what you’re looking for in a meal.

First time here since they moved locations; good news: cheese soup remains top notch, sandwiches are still good and there is still a salad bar. Bad news: no longer in a dark barn-like cave(a strip mall) a single trip to said salad bar costs as much as a full sandwich(huh?) and the ordering process and thus the wait process have changed and are less personal. On our first trip here, we had to wait an unacceptable amount of time, and when we asked, we learned that the order had never made its way to the kitchen. In the old ordering system this would not have happened because a waitperson would have been checking on our order. The old location was never my favorite, but I feel this one has made CG take a step back. One less star than last visit.

Delicious, down-home cookin’ PLUS Mexican food, perfect!!! They were super friendly, quick, and helped me order what I really wanted. When they messed up my order, they immediately fixed it and offered me goodies from the bakery(good thing I say no to sugar :) Thanks guys!!!

Old restaurant in a new location which doesn’t have much charm(I liked the original’s banquet room and kid area with carousel, rocking horse, and coloring table). The food is still good – soup, sandwiches, salad bar, rolls, corn bread, cookies, etc. But it’s cafeteria style where you order first and have to get your own drinks.

Lousy service. The salad plate for the one time through salad bar is the size of a tea cup saucer. Messy tables needing to be bussed all over the place. Food was decent, but overpriced. Especially the salad bar.

My mom and I stopped here for lunch. I’m a little sad it’s turned into a cafeteria style restaurant instead of the old quaint place it used to be, but food was good and I would go here again.(more a lunch place than a dinner place)

Best sandwich I’ve had in two months of being here(prime rib sandwich). Staff was real nice and on their toes the whole lunch hour. Bakery sold me some peanut butter cookies the size of bike tires.

Service has drastically improved. Two cash registers open, knowledgeable staff, quick delivery of food. Good food. They are getting better.

We did takeout. My husband said the Big Monty and cheesy spuds tasted just like he remembered! I don’t know why I ordered the enchiladas, they were so-so. The potato cheese soup wasn’t as flavorful as I remember but I’m sure we will do takeout again. My son like his grilled cheese kids menu, my daughter said the cheese was weird. The order taker was fabulous over the phone and the takeout was packed nicely. I wish it was a sit down location like the good old days!

Terrible service. Dirty floor. Unfriendly servers. This used to be our favorite place to go when it was on Foothill Drive. What a BIG disappointment.

We were excited to have Cowboy Grub move into our neighborhood. The new location is fairly walkable from our house, a little over a mile round trip. I don’t know that we’ll be exerting the effort to go back. We went in on a Thursday night and were barely able to get in the door, not because the place was crowded rather because the line leading to the door is very ill-placed and creates a bad bottleneck at the door. As previously noted the menus are not very specific about any of the dishes and the ordering time is longer than it needs to be. There is a waiting area that could be much better used for queuing the line. Secondly is the ordering process itself. I really don’t like paying up front for my meal. What if I want dessert? I have to make another trip to the register. What if I order dessert and don’t want it and it doesn’t travel well? This practice seems to discourage the customer for adding on which is where restaurants make extra money. The third is a pet peeve of mine but it’s something that needs to be addressed to my mind. They have ribs on the menu and several sandwiches that make a bit of a mess. My teriyaki chicken sandwich had a lot of sauce and in two bites my hands were sticky. I asked our well meaning server for something to wipe my hands with and his only solution was a stack of napkins. Luckily the restroom was near and I could wash my hands easily. There’s no reason a towelette shouldn’t be furnished or available. Otherwise the sandwich was basic and unspectactular. The chicken pot pie is something of a «pot pie-ish» meal. They describe it as an «open faced» dish. There was a disc of pie crust on the bottom of the bowl which is filled with chunks of chicken, vegetables and gravy with no side crusts or top. The filling was bland and had a distinct lack of seasoning. It was neither a pot nor a pie, The fries with my meal were the high point, crispy on the outside and feather light on the inside. However when the one thing you remember about a meal is the fries, that tells you that the meal wasn’t that good. The Cowboy Grub does have a salad bar but the prices are way too high for what is offered on it. The salad bar is nearly $ 10 for a one time through pass on an average size plate. Probably a good profit center for the restaurant but I didn’t see anyone use it the night we were in. The restaurant is an old Blockbuster Video location with minimal décor and what décor is there make you shake your head as to why it’s there. The tables and chairs are not particularly comfortable and the concrete floor with an unfinished ceiling make for a very loud experience. Cowboy Grub has been a staple in the valley for years but my fear is that the new location, new format and overall substandard food and service will not allow it to continue as such unless changes are made. When the first issue you run into with a restaurant on a Thursday night is not being able to get in the front door, the chances of the night carrying positive memories is pretty slim. That was the case with Cowboy Grub.

We came back a second time and had a much better experience. We came for a late lunch so there wasn’t a very big line to order food. However, I can see the ordering line moving very slowly if there were more people because the menu doesn’t describe each food item. People have to ask the cashier lots of questions to understand the menu. So the new Cowboy Grub has counter service so you get your own drinks and silverware and find your own table. However, the prices have stayed the same or even increased a bit. With that said, our food came out fairly fast. And the food was good … same caliber as before they moved locations. The salads are fresh and the dressings are made in house and delicious. Pot pies are fantastic. The bakery is great. You can’t go wrong with their pies and cookies and breads. After the waitress dropped our food off it was really difficult to get anyone back to our table for to go boxes. Everything was improved enough that we will definitely be back to give them another try.

For lunch today, I had a really delicious and handsome helping of a spicy chicken sandwich with their house garlic fries. It definitely lives up to the cowboy title.

We just ate dinner at Cowboy Grub and as opposed to other reviews, we really enjoyed our meal. The food is fresh and delicious. The newer fast casual style of dining seems to be working. This was a return visit, and considering the new staff, the service keeps getting better. We will definitely be returning! Don’t forget to order a piece of fresh made pie!

We LOVED the old restaurant. This is not the old restaurant. Prices are up, quality and portions are down. Two of the three soups served to our table were cold. The burger did not come fully dressed as listed. Tried to get the attention of servers to no avail. The one bright spot was the french fries, but there are lots of places that do fries well. I don’t think we will be back.

Showed up at 4:50 for the 5:00 opening. Got out of the car at 5:00 and waited in line until 5:10. Lady then poked her head out and said it will be 5 more minutes. It was 42 degrees out they were opening 15 minutes late but couldn’t let their customers wait inside? Rude and disrespectful. My family and I left and went somewhere that wanted our business and did not make me, my wife and 9 year old daughter wait in the cold.
