Great Food, Even better company! The only tiny tiny negative(very tiny) was the table we were seated at was kind of big for two people. I felt like as I was sitting across from my date I was far away. Overall it was a 4 star experience.

This is definitely an experience. If you want to have a nice meal but have it in a really memorable place, Kimi’s is right up your alley. Once a catering kitchen, then briefly an Italian(er. French?) restaurant, the recent history of this spot has been a ride. But it seems to have settled into Kimi’s which is kind of a steakhouse, kind of an oyster bar, kind of a spectacle, and also a coffee and pastry shop up front. The décor is unique, fancy, a little sexy and dark, but colorful. That sentence makes no sense, so instead, you’ll have to cruise the photos section or just stop in yourself. You walk into the front area, which is indeed a separate coffee/pastry stop during the day, and they’ll seat you inside or out on the patio during warmer months, which is where I sat. Out there the tables have a fire in the middle, and you can watch the traffic go by in Sugar House. The menu is a little spendy, sure, but at least for the non-seafood items, you should probably leave full. The cheese plate was generous and served on a massive tree ring, and I ordered the chop(when in Rome, you know) and even though they warned it could take a little longer, it was served promptly, juicy, piping hot, and that sucker was THICK. I got my money’s worth. Beyond the upscale menu and fancy interior, the restaurant really remains kind of a mystery to me. They seem to have settled into the role of Sugar House«fancy place» and stay busy enough in that niche.

Great drink prices! Beer and shot for 5 $! But you can only get one round without ordering food as per Utah laws I guess. Very cute décor. Food is on the pricey side as you might image from the way the place appears. Nice outdoor fire pits.

As you walk in the door, the décor is striking. You can see that a lot of care and pride went into the surroundings. The décor is hip, fun and inviting. After passing a large bar and lounge area –we were promptly seated. The staff was friendly and attentive. Now let’s talk about the food. We started with a dozen oysters. They were quite delicious and fresh. FRESH being the important word here. The oysters were shucked well — no shell or broken meat, and easy to eat. The mignonette served with the oysters was a delicious topping that enhanced the oyster flavor without overwhelming it. The rest of our starters were also delicious and impeccably fresh — everything you want from your seafood. The chowder was very rich and full of meaty seafood. Notable enough in fact that I would come back for a light dinner of oysters and chowder anytime. Our entrees were both cooked to perfection. I don’t really have anything to complain about, but for the price — I did expect a little more. I wasn’t really«wowed». It was a very delicious and well prepared meal. We will go back for sure — probably to enjoy cocktails, oysters, and a selection of the starters. All in all a great spot in Sugarhouse and the go to place to go to feed your oyster craving.

When first walking in, the first thing you notice is the beautifully setup room. Awesome! The service was great, Tim was very tenative. Food!!! Clam chowder, just perfect! Now the clams(not chowder) were pretty good. The flavoring is amazing, dipping the bread it comes with in there its highly advised. The clams were a little overcooked however. As per reading reviews, I was convinced to try the ribeye. Not pleased. The flavoring was good, I wish there were more of it. I don’t know why upscale places don’t sacrifice a little bit of freshness for some marinade, ugh. It’s pretty light, which I can see why some steak lovers enjoy it. The killer for me here was ordering it medium rare. The steak wasn’t consistent and in some parts, it was done. My fault for not taking it back but when you’re eating with a group who’s all already eating… you get my drift. I was already half way in before realization anyway. Overall, I wouldn’t order this steak again. They have a dj. One of the main parts of a djs job is to make sure your levels are balanced, all night. The fluctuations of volume made it pretty annoying for my party to socialize. The selection… eh great classics and all but it doesn’t fit the ambiance of the restaurant for me. Here to eat, not get drunk and be loud. The dj setup is literally the only thing that throws off the appearance and vibe. Try just signing up for a monthly music service with a similar playlist and lose the weird appearance plus volume inconsistency. He’s not actually«djing» after all, same thing. I would come back here and try something else. Also when the dj isn’t playing(I hope it’s not every day)

First of all, the place is very nice inside. The hostess was friendly, the waiter was awesome! Now the food. Complimentary bread with black pea hummus. Great! And offered a refill. Oysters were great! Two separate kinds, $ 3 a piece. 2 sauces. Clams were excellent. However I ordered the mussels and one was bad. Ruined it for me. The dessert was excellent. Which the waiter gave for free because I didn’t eat hardly any of the mussels.

The food and drinks were delicious and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The service was pretty meh, never really checked on us and griped about how it would take her a really long time to split the bill and would only split it equally 3 ways instead of splitting it by each couples actual orders. We were ready to get out of there at that point and didn’t protest. Definitely on the pricey side, but I’m still dreaming of the crab cakes. Would come back for a special occasion but hope the owner works on customer service with the staff. With those prices, I expect a higher level of service.

First of all, Kimi is quite possibly the sweetest woman on this planet!!! She genuinely cares about your dining experience… and it shows! I have been to this restaurant twice, and each time she made a point to come visit with our party, and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Everything from the amazing décor, to the friendly wait staff, to the menu… It is all meticulously supervised by Kimi as the night goes on. The food is out of this world. I have had the pleasure of enjoying many things here(My friends and I share), but the ceviche is out of this world, and the Rib Eye is to die for!!! I have also eaten the best burger I have ever eaten from the lunch menu!(I’m not a big fan of burgers, but was pleasantly surprised after being talked into trying it.) Dress to impress because this is one of the nicest dining experiences you will have in Salt Lake City!

Kimi’s has hung their shingle on a sugarhouse building that has lots of history. Now, as an upscale restaurant, Kimi will be making her own history. The décor is outstanding with a hip upscale vibe. There’s plenty of offstreet parking as it sits in front of a mall. We attended a special event at the restaurant. It was a birthday/holiday party. Perfectly suited for the occasion, was a private dining room upstairs. Super convenient, Kimi’s even has a restroom on that floor. The group was 30 people divided into three tables. The room was comfortable and we took full advantage of the venue. We brought in a karaōke machine and our own wine and beer which we paid corkage fees for. The restaurant set up a buffet area for appetizers for the group, comprised of some delightful dips cheeses olives clams even oysters on the half shell. The party rocked, using two beverage service areas, one with beer and one with our selections of wine. The food was fresh and tasted delicious, well prepared and large portions. We had a pre-determined menu. I had the salmon — terrific! You can see the picture. Rather than putting on a dinner party at home, maximize your party experience in the heart of sugarhouse and give this hip restaurant a try. Salute!

We waited to be greeted by our server for over 10 minutes, and waited for drinks for another 15. The tuna tartare special tasted fishy and was not fresh, the«naan» that it was served with was not made in house and tasted like store bought pita bread. The tartare sat on the edge of the table until we were half way through eating our second course. Our server walked by multiple times without checking in. When she returned to the table she suggested to replace the tartare with the shrimp ceviche special which was okay at best but was plated with tortilla chips that were obviously not made in house. No check back from the server. Fresh plates were not brought to the table for the second course or the ceviche. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. It was served with mashed potatoes, asparagus, undercooked carrots and a cream sauce that had a crème de menthe flavor. Odd. Still no check back from the server. I would have liked to have given feed back in person about our overall experience but none of the other staff seemed attentive either and the host stand was vacated by the time we left(9pm on a Friday night)

This place is super fancy, The food was really good but in my opinion not for the prices they were charging, I would come here for like a special occasion but not on the regular. I came here with my girl and we ordered the capreesse salad two clam chowder soups and a trio of the shareable items, one was the jallepeno salmon and the other two were some crab cakes. My favorite dish was probably the soup.

Fabulous! We came in for a quick lunch on our last day in SLC and could only wish we’d found Kimi’s earlier! Had the chanterelle bisque and croque Monsieur with Kir Royale as we were celebrating the end of a long week. The service was impeccable, perfectly times and we will absolutely be back next time! The chocolate soufflé with vanilla bean gelato and praline topping was a great finale and my friend had the pumpkin cheesecake which was outstanding! Thanks for a wonderful meal! The restaurant is also gorgeous and the patio inviting too!

Waited at the front for 5 minutes before being greeted. Menu had changed but the physical menus were not updated. Sample of cakes were good. Chili was above average. Hamburger was ordered medium rare but came well done. Also, the meat did not taste right. Server did not ask how we were doing or how the meal was.

The place looks nice, especially the patio and the waiting lounge. The space is enormous. The staff and our waitress were great. Now the bad stuff. We wanted to have drinks, so we went with it, but the alcohol was outrageously expensive. Beers you get most other places for $ 5 are $ 7 minimum, and double the normal overcharge for wines. The two house cocktails we had were super sugary and not at all worth it. Don’t care about alcohol? Fine, the food was definitely a disappointment too. The clam chowder was tasty, but the oysters were not nearly as good as most places downtown. I had the special Ribeye and it was overcooked and not very flavorful. My wife had the lamb and it was also overcooked and tasted off. The food wasn’t bad by any means, but for the price, we were definitely disappointed. Spend less at Current or any other Trio group restaurant, and you will get much better food, value and experience. Spend the same at Log Haven, Valters, Fresco, or The New Yorker, and it’s night and day.

Read the good review on Unilocal and arrived at Kim’s at 6:30PM last night(Wed). The main dinning room was completely empty except for a table of 2. Service was terrible. Did I mention the service was terrible. It literally took 10 minutes to get our drinks. The waitress said it was do a printer error. You would think she would have walked over to the bar since it was completely empty. Dinner was good despite the slow service(again). After dinner, we ordered more drinks but they never arrived. If this was my restaurant, I would have let her go. She left at least $ 150 dollars on the table, In summary, poor service and sub par food based on the price.

This has got to be one of SLC’s prettiest restaurants. This restaurants has a modern feel with dark and light paintwork, chandeliers and large mounted artwork pieces on all of the walls. The menu is one of the more expensive in SLC but if you have a hankering for fresh oysters, seafood or steak this is the place to go. We tried the half dozen fresh oysters and got a mix of oysters from three regions in Washington State, a great combination of oyster flavors. My husband ordered the spice rubbed steak and I got the double boned pork– all cooked to perfection with tasty and simple sides such as beans and potatoes. The service was fantastic. The wine and cocktail list was well thought out. The room layout allows for large groups or small intimate tables. I recommend this restaurant for a date night or special occasion.

My, what an attractive restaurant you are! Kimi’s gives off this cool, elegant atmosphere where a lot of nicely dressed folks come for an after work cocktail and bite. Sit out on one of the nice patio tables with its own fire pit, and enjoy one of their $ 5 drink specials… What better way to unwind than that, right? I love oysters, and enjoyed a half dozen of an assortment the other night. Unfortunately, the waiter didn’t explain the different varieties that I was served, but I gobbled em up anyway. Next I had the salmon ceviche which was on special for the evening. It wasn’t the best I’ve had, and hope it goes through some tweaks if ever making it to the regular menu. It needed more seasoning, but the concept and presentation was nice. The star of the evening was another dish that was on special: the Cajun ribeye over a bed of truffle fries. It was so delicious, and worth returning for again and again.

Call me a «newbie» but I was beyond impressed with how fancy this place is! One of those places you walk in with a bright face, wide eyes, and dropped jaw to say«woah.» I was already excited to see the gorgeous outside seating before walking in. The first thing that caught my attention was the fireplace by the bar! Ambiance is a big deal and their decorations earned an A+. There were also crystal chandeliers and candle lit tables. Don’t forget the live music that compliments your meal! It’s the kind of place you would want to find to impress a date you’ve been anticipating all your life! Apart from the gorgeous view, we got complimentary cheese fondue plates since it was a friend’s birthday. A friend and I started with two glasses of Pinot Gris, yum! We decided on the Linguine Del Mar and the Steamed Mussels & sausages. The pasta was good but for $ 28.00 and the portion size, I was expecting amazing. The Steamed Mussles & Sausages was also okay. The sauce wasn’t what I expected and I normally love a mussels plate! The sausages were tiny little bits and they were far too sweet for my liking. The biggest disappointment was the size of the meat in the mussels, TINY for $ 16.00. My friend and I weren’t satisfied/full by the end of the meal and that was a little disappointing. The service was great. They’re on top of filling water and clearing the plates. I also though the birthday treat was a pleasant surprise since that’s not a cheap plate! Great ambiance. If I were to come back, I’d definitely try other items on the menu.

I came across this restaurant through a friend’s Instagram picture and was super excited for a new place that served oysters! So for date night, my boyfriend and I decided to check this place out. When we walked in, there was a lot to take in. On one side was a small café. In front of us was a huge lounge area, a bar, and the dining area on both sides. When I inquired about each space, I felt overwhelmed with all the different hours of service for each. Not retaining any information the hostess was giving us, we quickly sat in our designated seats. My boyfriend ordered a sea breeze cocktail and the three course special that included the simple salad, marinated flank, and crème brûlée. I got the oysters, crab cakes, and almond joy. Everything from the three course menu was decent. I particularly liked the crème brûlée. The crab cakes were okay. I am not a fan of the mushy almost-blended-like crab cakes I received. I am use to big chunks of crab meat with not so much breading mixed in. Because I had high expectations for oysters, I was disappointed in the limited selection that was offered. I ordered the half dozen of miyagi oysters and they were absolutely fresh and delicious. I loved the mignonette du jour that was provided, I even used it with my salad. I just can’t get over how misleading the name of the restaurant is. You would think from the name Kimi’s Chop& Oyster House that there will be an emphasis on oysters. Yeah, no there wasn’t. Service was spectacular. Everything was brought out in a timely manner, and everything that we requested were happily fulfilled. And we had some ridiculous requests including extra candles because it was too dim, variations on food and alcohol items. I don’t know if we will be back anytime soon and if we were to come back, I would want to sit at the bar. Having to sit across from my boyfriend with the level of noise made it difficult to hear anything he was saying.
