The hamburger patties are the quality of the preformed ones you can buy at Walmart. Ordered a hamburger without cheese, was given a burger with cheese. Told them I am allergic to cheese. Minutes later was given the same burger that they had scraped the cheese off of. Funny enough, the bun was the best part of the burger.

I got the Philly Steak and it was phenomenal. Really nice staff too. Food was also pretty quick. For $ 10 you get a large sandwich, fries and a drink.

I have been going here for a couple months, and this is by far the best philly cheesesteak in UT. One of the best sandwiches actually, I love it. I went to Moochies all the time with friends during my high school days, since I was right up the street at East, and I actually went there yesterday because one of my coworkers wanted a meatball and said she would pay if I pick it up.(Who refuses that?) So needless to say, I got a philly and went back to the office and took a bite while looking out on a cold snowy day. Wasn’t excited and didn’t get the warm feel goods in my mouth and stomach like I do when I eat a Joni philly. Through the process of eating it, I was just day dreaming about Joni’s. So much better than Moochies folks, go to Joni instead. They also load the philly way more than Moochies, I was a little disappointed when I unwrapped the Mooch and it was 75% bread… I have also tried their garlic burger and it is killer too. Haven’t had anything else because I can’t stray from the classic. Joni is also way cool and she is a little fireball of a personality which I love. It’s always packed at lunch though, which you should probably expect… So keep that in mind when you are heading there anywhere from 11:30 to like 1:00 it’s usually very busy. And parking sucks, that is the only complaint for Jonis. Other than that, I’m on my way there right after I hit the post button.

Been here a few times mostly for their philly cheese steaks. I’ve been searching for a good one in Utah and it’s about as hard as finding a single, good looking guy in Utah who isn’t already taken, gay, or Mormon. Nearly impossible. But this place had good reviews so I checked it out. I have to say I’m not really impressed. It’s close to my house which is great, and usually not very busy, also great, but the sandwiches were underwhelming. The philly cheese steak was nothing special. It had all the right ingredients but not a lot of flavor and not really the right bread for a Philly cheese steak. You definitely need something a little denser. And the French dip was probably the worst one I’ve ever had. The meat was dry, bland and really fatty. And sliced way too thick to even bite into. And before I even dipped my sandwich into what they call au jus there(I’m convinced it was plain water with brown food coloring) my sandwich was already completely soggy. It was inedible. It tasted like someone chewed up the bread for me and then served it to me. Eww. I definitely won’t be back for a French dip and I may just need to drive 10 minutes and go to D.P. cheesesteaks next time. The interior is dated and so are there sandwiches. I’m guessing they haven’t changed their recipe since they opened. But something needs to change here.

Where has this been my whole life. Our family went on vacation to Philly just to eat these cheese steaks(well it was part of the vacation) this place was awesome Service– 5 stars I don’t know if I met Joni or not but the lady helping me was so sweet and kind! Atmosphere/clean– awesome. I love where it is located gives you that«feeling» yet it is clean inside Good– mercy if there were 6 stars I would do it! It was so good and got and the meat cooked perfect with just the right amount of veggies and the chess we choose provolone was melted to perfection! Loved it can’t wait to go back. Best cheese steak place in Utah by my standards. Hope I didn’t talk it up to much!

First time having been. Moderately busy, nothing major. Small little joint, seemed family operated. Was greeted right away. I personally had the philly cheesesteak and fries. The philly was absolutely amazing. Probably one of the best I’ve had in Salt Lake City. Both my coworkers got the garlic burger and they both had nothing but great things to say. I went for a burger but the philly stole me away. I’ll be going back for a burger next time for sure! I will be taking friends back here to enjoy this place with me.

The steak Philly is delicious! The sauce is amazing and with mushrooms, green peppers and onions it is the perfect hot sandwich. The French dip was also good, but nothing compares to the steak Philly! Also, Joni is one the coolest and nicest business owners I’ve ever encountered. She runs a great deli.

This is my favorite place. It is such a hidden treasure tucked behind a place you will miss of you blink. Since the first time I went there it has felt inviting and frankly like home. The owner is super nice and I would recommend everyone try the chicken philly. I love the soups in the winter. I usually get the cheeseburger or the philly.

How could I have lived so close to Joni’s for so long and never heard of it? Maybe it’s because they are tucked away between industrial businesses and have almost no parking. Perhaps it was this tough ecosystem that forced them to develop their amazing food. I regret that I have only just discovered the best Chicken Cheese Stake in Utah. Joni’s is a gem and deserves to be included in any list of SLC’s best hole in the wall restaurants.

Joni’s has been a staple for me for years now, they have a pretty simple menu, burgers, phillys, sandwiches, and if you get it in a combo you have a choice of fries, baked beans, pasta salad or potato salad, which are all homemade. I especially love coming here in the winter for her soup the potato is my favorite. Prices are a bit higher but I’m okay with that because the food is always fresh and made with love.

Having now gone mostly through the menu, minus the cold sandwiches, the overwhelming impression I get is that they could probably put rocks on that grill and have it come out tasting good. I had the chicken«Philly» today and as an actual Philly, like the steak version, it fails, but as a chicken cheese sandwich, it’s maybe the best I’ve had ever. They also have added a jalapeño white sauce, ala Moochie’s. It’s not quite as good, but still very good and much thicker, but it definitely added a nice dimension to the chicken sandwich. Like Chicken Express, this is one of the few places I would intentionally order chicken, but you could be blindfolded and throw a fistful of darts at the menu and assuming you hit anything, odds are very good it would be excellent. I’ve not had anything bad here, even in repeat visits and my newest mystery is what exactly it was that I had that caused me to avoid this place for so long. Whatever it was, I’m glad the mystery is rectified, as most of what is here is magnificent. The fries don’t earn quite that prize, but are very good as well, along the lines of the various Greek hamburger restaurants dotting the cities.

It’s been awhile since my last visit to here. And I really forgot how much I enjoy their food. I had the chicken philly. And it was cooked to perfection. Everything came out nice and hot. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I will be back soon.

I must say that the only menu item I can actually review from my numerous trips here is the cheesesteak. The cheesesteak is always nice and hot when it arrives to your table. You can change the contents of the sandwich but I like mine with onions and peppers and of course some shrooms. The breading is a French roll consistency but shaped as a hoagie. It is always fresh, soft and delicious. The meat content does not overpower the cheese and other ingredients. It comes with fries that are of the thin variety. They are decent as well. The service is great. Joni and the girls are very friendly and will get you taken care of. If you need something special just let em know. After you order and pay just go have a seat and one of the ladies will bring your food out to you. They are only open until 3 or 4 during the week and I think not at all on the weekend. They specialize in lunch. It can get a little busy so you may not want to go between 12 and 1:30. The location is pretty clean and it does have limited parking. It is all worth it though. You will agree after you take a bite of that cheesesteak! I have been with others who order different items and they always seem pretty happy. I hear the garlic burger is good.

I usually meet my Daddy here for lunch. Not much parking in the front, but they have extra parking in the back. No kiddie menu — no grilled cheese — so, I usually order one cheeseburger with mayo only — for the kiddos, of course! They cut it in half, and my kids share it. I always get the Philly Cheese Steak meal, it’s a BIG sandwich stuffed with meat, cheese, mushrooms, onions and served with pepperoncinis on the side. Hand cut fries, served with fry sauce — the fries are always greasy, delicious, and HOT. I can’t stand cold fries, can’t stand ‘em. I get the Diet Pepsi… but wish they had Diet Coke(’cause I’m a snob about my diet drinks). This place is small, only open during the weekdays for lunch, and fills up fast — So arrive early — and hungry! I’m a fan.

Asked what was their famous sandwich. They said the Philly Cheese steak. They were right. It took me back to Philly and made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Really well done. Their fries are off the hook too. I’ll be coming back to check out other sandwiches for sure.
