Pretty consistent so far as coffee chains go. Never had any major complaints. The atmosphere is live and you don’t feel like you’re being rushed away. I’m surprised it doesn’t get as much business as other coffee chains, it as good if not better than most of them.

Best coffee and customer service. My husband and I stop by every week to get something delicious :)

What is the point of being open until 9 if you close down the coffee at 8:30, if that’s the case then just close then! I drove for 20mins specifically to get a coffee! Thank you for wasting my time! Luckily Starbucks was open… And you wonder why Starbucks is more successful… Will not be returning!

Good coffee, friendly baristas, fast lines during rushes, prefer over others.

Happened to notice this place a few mornings ago whilst traveling out-of-state and on our way to a Starbucks(out-of-caffeine-desperation), so we decided to gamble. Service was extremely friendly and offered up really good, unburnt coffee. Sure wish this place was in our neck of the woods!

Pretty tasty and consistent. I like the Tuesday special on the first and third Tuesdays of the month. Service is friendly and great! However, I’m concerned about the painfully skinny gal. She’s so small. I want to bring her a cheeseburger or something. They have only screwed up my order around twice in the past couple of years. I don’t go to Starbucks anymore, I go to Black Rock!

Excellent latte. Friendly service. It hit the spot! I would return here as well as recommend to friends. 3 $ for a medium size.

I love my coffee, and this place has great coffee. Tried this place out on a whim while staying in Salem for a few days. The employees working the place were super friendly and I didn’t have wait long at all to get back on the road. For me the affordable pricing, great service, and excellent coffee product are a good combination that would jeep me coming back over and over again if it were my neighborhood coffee joint.

The new location in Tangent by the freeway is bad! Three bad coffee orders now. The shot’s are bitter or burnt it just depends on who’s working. The chi tea latte was not drinkable. The eggnog latte had no foam and my Americano was terrible. Please give them training or Dutch brothers is probably going to build across from you and close your doors.

So I have given this place my business 4 times now in the past few months. Each time the service is friendly, but for some reason the coffee is not up to par. I have ordered the same thing each time, the blondie, and each time it’s different. The first time it was hot and delicious(more tasty than Dutch bros I’d say). Trip two, it was horribly bitter and I couldn’t even finish it. #3-barista never bothered to ask hot or cold, and both my blondies came out as flavored ice. And for my final trip, the thing tastes like a sugar cube with a yucky aftertaste. Sorry, but until this place learns how to make their drinks consistent, I won’t be back…

I’m an avid Dutch Bros. fan, and I have worked in coffee shops before so I know a lot about espresso, etc. I’m a big fan of Black Rock and will come here more often than going to Dutch Bros. for a couple of reasons. I really like the customer service, which is a big deal. When I specify a drink order, I watch them and they always make it exactly how I want it. They’re really friendly, but don’t act fake, and they’re really fast at making the drinks, and it’s always consistent. They also have a few locations in Beaverton and the Portland area which is great since I live there now. I love their white chocolate mochas, it’s not overly sweet, but my favorite is their pumpkin chai during Winter, it just hits the spot. They’re very similar to Dutch Bros. when it comes to their drinks, I think they’re just a tad bit cheaper though.

Love supporting the little guy and this place fits the bill in the battle against Starbucks. Black Rock is a drive thru coffee shop… looks cool on the outside with it’s black exterior and red star, but the real star is the coffee’s flavor. More mild than that Seattle based company, I prefer the more subtle coffee flavor here… seems less acidic. There’s no interior seating or wifi, just a two sided drive thru. But the speed and efficacy of the friendly staff more than make up for it. I grab a cup before getting on the road to Portland. Solid. Try it.

I just moved to Salem, Oregon. The ol’ ball and chain(sorry babe) and I were driving by and saw a black kiosk with cheerleader-type girls out front waving signs. Come to find it’s a grand opening of a coffee place we’ve never tried. So we turned around and lo and behold, it’s their first day open and are offering $ 1 any 16oz drink specials. So we pull in and wait in the(obviously, duh) long line in drive-thru. When we get to the window(actually only took about fifteen minutes), the girl taking our order was extremely friendly. Everyone was hustling with two windows open. We both got our blended mocha’s and were on our way after a few more friendly words with barista/window chick. We went back the next day and had a $ 2 Tuesday blended mocha… again. Great stuff. Will be back often. Thank everyone!
