Edit: The owners tried to «make up» for the poor service after (I believe) they saw my review. In my opinion they didn’t do enough and it was to little to late. They tried to offer to let us move to the original room we had booked the next day but IMO its a waste of time for us to pack all of our stuff and move to a different room that we had booked in the first place. They tried to offer us a cheap bottle of wine which we declined because we don’t drink wine (we told them this.) As far as I know this was the extent of their efforts to «make things right.» As far as I am concerned they can keep their initial review because first impressions mean a lot and if someone is ready to pack up and travel 3 hours home… then you haven’t done your job.
My boyfriend convinced me to stay for our trip as I was ready to just go home. The bed was not super comfortable and we could not get on whatever WiFi they claim to offer so we used his hot spot instead. 2 of the lights in/​out of the room did not work and the lighting was pretty poor inside the room. The porch light was out which made it difficult to unlock/​lock the room at night without a flashlight. The breakfast wasn’t to bad and while I like that we weren’t bugged in the morning with breakfast the food was often odd after being nuked.
TLDR: I would try the other inns/B&B before I stayed here again. They made a mistake with our room and the room was only okay.

I’ve been here 10 minutes and am already disappointed. The reviews for this place were really great but the experience so far hasn’t. The reviews say it is super quiet… It’s not. You are right by the freeway and it is very noisy. We almost missed the location because the landscape is really overgrown and looks nothing like the pictures. Place has most likely not been up kept much since it first opened and the pictures aren’t recent.
Secondly, the room we were told was available and had booked was not available when we arrived. The only room available was a smaller unit and the bed is not very cushy and makes a lot of noise if you move even a little bit. I seriously sat down on it and there was a huge creak every time I adjust a little bit.
Not sure if this is true in every room but the bathtub and sink are located right by the bed. Usually not my ideal situation because it gets really humid.

I have stayed here many times, and it’s always been a great experience. Wonderful home-​cooked breakfasts ready in your cottage when you are. Electric fireplaces to warm you up on cold nights. Lush bedding and comfortable beds. Quiet, very quiet surroundings. Located just off Main Street, very close to shopping and restaurants. Very friendly staff. Cottages are very clean, and each one is unique. Cozy, just plain cozy. A slice of Americana in the Country. The best B&B in Salado in my opinion.

The cottages are an eclectic collection of old buildings such as a circa 1900 one room school house. My wife and I stayed a night for her birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We were in the school house. Very peaceful and such a cool little cottage. We’ll definitely be back.
