I spent a lovely weekend at The Inn. The room and service were impeccable. The grounds are spectacular. I especially loved reading quietly in the lawn by the creek. Lots of fantastic shopping on Main Street, especially if you love unusual items.

Love this place! The setting cannot be more beautiful, and Tony is an awesome host! I don’t think he ever sleeps! We had such a memorable time. Our favorite thing to do was sitting out by the lovely creek and watching the sun set. We saw a group of deer come into the yard at dusk and cross the creek to graze. It was perfect!

My wife and I came and celebrated our anniversary here. The experience was out of this world. Every small luxury that you can think of, Will has covered. The food is amazing, the rooms are like stepping back in time, and just the over all experience is incredible. Drove 4 hours from the Houston area to get there and it was worth every mile and penny!!!

My fiancé and I still rave about the Inn on the Creek every chance we get to anyone who will listen, and it’s been over a year since our last visit. We’re planning our wedding in New York, and much to the confusion of everyone involved, are planning on coming back to Texas for our honeymoon. The Inn on the Creek is our«special place». We stayed in an attic room and had breakfast in bed. It was incredible. I don’t know how it is during the other months, but it is positively magical during the winter. Also, make sure you try Alexander’s next door. The best food and staff and my favorite drinks. Wow, even just reviewing it makes me want to dig into my vacation days and head down from Dallas. Who knew this kind of gem could be hiding in the middle of nowhere in Texas?!

Every time we stay here our minds are blown with how awesome it is. I am posting a picture of breakfast in bed. I wanted a romantic evening with my wife and they delivered. We stayed in the McKie Room. The king bed was so comfortable and the sheets are to die for. The staff was perfect and the food was amazing. It was 32 degrees last night and the hot tub was breath taking. Steam in the air and the moon rays coming threw the trees… all i can say is breathtaking.

My boyfriend booked us a room last-minute over Memorial Day weekend, so we could get out of the house for a bit after having to put our beloved elderly pooch to sleep. We REALLY needed to get away for a bit, as did our younger dog who was extremely upset at the loss of her«sister». I don’t think we could have chosen a better retreat. We were especially thankful to get last-minute booking during a holiday weekend, too. Whomever did the reservation with my boyfriend over the phone(I think it was Chris) placed us in the Willingham room specifically to accommodate our dog, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The room is on the ground floor with its own outside door, in the back of the Holland House(across the road from the main house). The back yard of the Holland House is spacious but unfenced… but our dog sticks close by so that’s not a problem for us. The Willingham room is VERY spacious and has been redecorated since the last picture on the website(and is much prettier than the picture, in my opinion). We were relieved to find all hardwood floors. The room was very comfortable, restful, and attractive. There’s a little fridge in the room; perfect for the wine/cheese/fruit we brought with us. The bench under the pear-tree-shaded arbor right outside the door was so nice, too. It was just perfect for us. If you’re looking for a more traditional B&B experience you might prefer a room in the main house, but we were so much happier having a little space to ourselves. We really couldn’t muster up much pluck to mingle at the time, so the privacy of the Willingham room was a real blessing.(Oh, and the Willingham and Alexander rooms can open into each other to make a suite– perfect for family or friends traveling together.) Our only complaint about the room was the outside porch light lit up the door’s window so much we couldn’t sleep… and we couldn’t find a light switch so David took a chair out there and unscrewed the bulb.(We really should have put it back in the morning or at least told Tony what we’d done, sorry!!!) Tony and Chris(I don’t think we saw Will while we were there) were so welcoming and kind. They knew we were grieving a loss and were so good to us… even asking how our dog was doing and if she needed anything. They didn’t just accommodate our dog; they *welcomed* her. That really meant a lot to us. This review sounds like we’re crazy dog people(a la «Best in Show») but we’re just ordinary people mourning the loss of a beloved pet who had been part of our family for 16 years. I’m mentioning all this dog-friendly detail for the benefit of others looking for dog-friendly accommodations. David and I aren’t the shopping kind, so the whole antique alley thing isn’t our scene. That doesn’t leave a whole lot else to do in Salado(or maybe we just don’t know any better). We will most definitely be back, however, and we can’t WAIT for what we’ve dubbed«The Reading Weekend» so we can enjoy a peaceful retreat in the Willingham room with a couple of good books we’ve been wanting to get to. For our first stay we were heart-broken semi-zombies in need of some TLC, but when next we come we’ll be prepared for a nice, relaxing get-away. We’re looking forward to it.

Beautiful inn! The grounds were lovely and the inn is nicely tucked away. Some of our party had some problems finding the locale, so make sure you look up the directions or call them since there is ongoing I-35 construction that will divert you. Did not stay at the inn, but came here for dinner and drinks at sunset. Their bar is nicely appointed and stylish with gorgeous views, and the dinner was select and delicious. The staff were all so polite. The owner and chef came out to check on us and our waiter was polite and had a great sense of humor. Will love to come back for a stay — such a lovely getaway!

A beautiful, scenic B&B. There are so many pros to this place! Beautiful views, beautiful antique & new décor & art, amazing views from balcony bar, breakfast in the morning, AMAZING sheets, & a super nice innkeeper. My only«con»: the house is 130 years old so insulation for sound proofing wasn’t probably done back then. You can hear people in the rooms next to you. It was loud enough to know what they were saying but weird to hear people while you are in the bathroom or laying in bed. Other than that small detail, we had an amazing time & will return for our next«special occasion.»

This place is just wonderful. Our first family reunion in 20 years was here and it was so relaxing. Porch sitters could overlook the creek while grandchildren splashed all day! Our service was phenomenal– amazing breakfast, beautiful clean rooms, and gracious host, Will. Very accommodating staff when booking and throughout our stay. Recommended for anyone looking to have some time to get away =)

My aunt recently organized my grandmother’s birthday party, which took place at the Inn on the Creek. Even before we set foot on the property, the staff worked hard to accommodate our needs, which included the dietary restrictions of two vegans and a vegetarian. The place itself is charming, with big wrap-around porches full of rocking chairs and benches, and several friendly-but-aloof cats roam the premises.(I must say, I love places with roaming cats.) The waitstaff was friendly and fast, bringing us new drinks the moment we finished our old ones, and making sure to ask how each course of the meal tasted. And each course tasted pretty darn good. I got the feeling the chef wasn’t accustomed to cooking tofu, but the texture wasn’t bad. And the baked apple for dessert was delicious. The only weird thing about this place is the view of the creek referenced in its name. There’s green grass all down the hill from the Inn, and then the little bubbling creek, but while it seems like the other side of the creek should also be nice, green, rolling hills, it’s not. It looks more like pavement. So, that threw me off a little, but not enough to not come back. It was a nice place for an intimate family gathering, and it seems like it’d be nice for a quiet, romantic getaway as well.

A true Victorian Inn. Charm elegance and a dining experience of the highest quality await at this truly delightful one of a kind establishments. Check their web site for the fixed menu and prices. We have done two company Christmas parties here, and I can tell you, the food and service equals or betters the best anywhere in the world. Be ready to part with some bucks, but you won’t regret it.
