We loved Rose mansion! We stayed in the summer kitchen. It was sweet, simple, and comfortable. Kay is a wonderful hostess, and the breakfasts were incredible.

I had no idea what The Rose Mansion in Salado, TX was going to be like, but after a few conversations with Kay the Innkeeper, I was comfortable enough to book a stay over Christmas. It was an excellent decision. Many cabins and rooms in the Mansion to chose from, but we settled on the Alamo and Houston rooms… think like a stone duplex but built back a long time ago. Beautiful rooms with well appointed baths and wood burning fireplaces in each room. Excellent service and so comfortable! You are welcome to use common rooms in the Mansion anytime. The breakfasts were more too than I expected… think 5 star restaurant breakfast… you will understand then! Certainly coming back, Sharecropper’s cabin may be the next pick. The Rose Mansion is excellent pick in Salado, TX.

This was my second visit to Salado. I first went for a quiet birthday weekend several years ago and stayed at a B&B, but couldn’t remember the name when I planned this trip. So I looked for other affordable locations. I decided on Rose Mansion for our trip(July 4th weekend). I was pleased with the grounds and the cleanliness of the rooms. Since it was only one other cabin being occupied that afternoon, she showed us all the rooms in the house before showing us our cabin. We found the cabins to be clean yet rustic. Pretty much what I expected. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom(more than I expected we’d go through!) as well as other necessities. I didn’t expect her to refresh the towels and soap, but she did. That was a nice touch. She told us breakfast(included in the price) was served in the Sun Room beginning at 9:00 until the last person ate. The next day I was late to breakfast. Two other couples were there eating with my boyfriend. There was PLENTY of food left for me as well as the mother and daughter who came to eat way after the other couples had left. The food was delicious! I had to force myself not to overeat! Sunday’s breakfast was served in the dining room. The tables were set nicely and hand made yogurt and fruit parfaits were waiting when we sat down. Fresh muffins were served each day with a variety of jams and juices. Coffee and tea was available as well. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the manager, Kay, was a delight. Very thoughtful and accommodating. We will definitely return. I’ve read some poor reviews about this place and Kay even told us about some of them. It seems the problem was with the previous manager’s handling of things, what the guests were expecting, and timing. There’s always the opportunity to go somewhere and have a bad experience because of one’s own expectations or it been an unfortunate matter of timing(even in the finest of hotels– I’ve experienced that!). All I can say is our time was very nice and just what we were looking for. B&B’s are different. Some are promoted as more luxurious and mimic fine hotels with similar services, others are more simple and cozy to mimic a home-stay. This rustic country-style venue is not for those looking for a five star hotel experience, but for those wanting a peaceful, quiet, rustic getaway, this is the place. The food is great, the manager is lovely and the town is quaint. I recommend a stay at Rose Mansion when you’re in Salado, TX.

My family and I had just finished a long arduous road trip from CA to our new quaint home of Salado TX. We stayed our first night at the Rose Mansion B&B; Lisa is the loveliest and most gracious hostess I have ever encountered! She was quick to accommodate our large family and made us feel immediately at home. The next morning we ate a delicious family-style breakfast in one of their beautifully decorated dining rooms. Although we were the only ones with young children we were made to feel welcomed and at home. We were immediately introduced to the famous Texan hospitality when Lisa suggested I take the remaining watermelon home with us since we would be moving that day. I found the rooms to be clean and cozy. The grounds are beautiful also. Easy walking distance to downtown Salado also!
