We visited the Fire Monkey Food Truck at one of the food truck rallies at First Unity in St. Pete. I had been following Fire Monkey on Facebook for a while, and couldn’t wait to try the Gorilla Balls. They are a meat mixture rolled in rice, breaded, and fried and served with a dipping sauce. My kids and husband and I all loved them. We sampled a bunch of different food trucks that day, so this was the only item we tried from Fire Monkey. Next time I definitely want to try the sweet potato fries topped with blue cheese and tamarind sauce. I saw several people with these and they looked amazing. I’m a fan and can’t wait to see them at another food truck event.

The food is fresh, fast, and delicious, just like a food truck should be. I had black bean patties on top of tostadas topped with a fresh salsa. My friend got a sort of chicken wrap with a bunch of goodies inside with sriracha. Both of us were very happy with our orders

I am one of the many that’s been infected by the food truck craze going on right now and have been to almost every food truck event around Tampa Bay. Fire Monkey is definitely in the Top 3 for best food trucks in the Tampa Bay area. They are the very definition of great street food. They keep people coming back for the frequently changing menu with unique flavor combinations. The crowd favorite that’s always on the menu(also my personal favorite) are the Gorilla Balls — delicious risotto balls stuff with blue cheese and beef that are deep-fried to perfection. Follow them via Facebook or Twitter so you can indulge in their delectable creations.

Gorilla Balls, When Pigs Fry and Caribbean Black Bean cakes! This is definitely one of my favorite trucks now, my girlfriend and I have eaten their stuff at a rally and now at one of their evening stops at Cigar City Brewing Company. Tasty and fresh, the balls are fried but cripsy and never soggy and whatever fries they use are the perfect thickness to compliment their toppings. I love the short but revolving menu that keeps things simple but you can always expect a chance to try something new.

I am SO glad someone put this business up on Unilocal!I considered it, but got too lazy. haha. This food truck has come to my work place multiple times, and I’ve gone every time. Pancakes for breakfast. & gorilla balls for lunch. Love their sauce, which is like a spicy mayo. It IS a bit pricey, but I still look forward to their next visit. I got nothing else to eat around here!

Fire Monkey is a food truck based in St. Petersburg, FL preparing fresh, local, seasonal ingredients paired with world spices and flavors that is cooked-to-order. Because seasonal items are used the menu changes frequently. We discovered Fire Monkey when we saw the food truck outside of Cigar City Brewery on Friday night. Everything smelled good so we decided to order the yuka fries, gorilla balls, and some type of quesadilla/burrito with chicken, cheese, wasabi, and plantains. The fries were hot and crispy and the sanwich was awesome, but what stood out the most were the gorilla balls! The gorilla balls consisted of mushroom risotto fried into a ball… it was one of the most unique and tastiest things I had ever tried! I found their hours on facebook. It looks like they are closed on Sunday and Monday. The food truck tweets their location every day so I will have to keep a look out on Facebook and Twitter! Hours Tue — Thu: 11:00 am — 2:00 pm Fri: 11:00 am — 2:00 pm 5:00 pm — 10:00 pm Sat: 7:00 pm — 10:00 pm
