It’s a great start to the morning, a great lunch spot, or great place for an afternoon pick-me-up! Did I mention great?!? Even just to listen to a little music and catch your breath… not a better spot to see super friendly and talented people.

Still the friendliest coffee shop in town with the best coffee in DTSTP. Baked goods are as delicious as ever.

Where to start with this little kept treasure in the skyway of St. Paul! Their coffee is amazing and strong, with many different monthly offerings that go with the seasons! I believe last week it was an Orange Spice Mocha which was so good. All of their baked goods and soups/salads are freshly homemade every morning and you can taste it in the food. The owners are super friendly and even remember your drink order. I make it a point to go on Fridays because they always have little games to play and if you are successful you get your drink for free! The last one they had you had to draw a number and that corresponded to a certain type of squash and if you know what kind of squash it was your drink was free. All in all it is everything a little corner coffee shop should be and is. I hope these guys are here for a long time.

Let me put it this way: I get up half an hour early(to take an earlier bus and still make it to work on time) to get a latte from Perkelat. And then I walk half a mile to my office. Is it worth it? Absolutely! Perkalat is pretty much a dream come true for me. After living in Seattle for nine years, one of my least favorite things about St Paul is the lack of coffee shops. Downtown Seattle literally has one or more coffee shops on every single freakin block, whereas downtown St Paul has one Starbucks and a handful of Caribous and that’s it(sorry, I don’t count McDonald’s or SuperAmerica as viable coffee options). Neither Starbucks nor Caribou are worth out of my way for, so imagine my absolute delight when I came across reviews of Perkelat! What’s even better is that the people that work there are super nice, the décor in the shop is retro and cute, the music they play is excellent, AND the(iced) lattes are the best I’ve had in St Paul. No contest. And they have some baked goods and bananas if you need to grab a bite while grabbing your caffeine. So I will continue to go out of my way just to support this local, non-chain coffee shop because downtown St Paul so desperately needs it. Note: while the address is listed as Jackson Street and Perkelat can be accessed by the skyway level, you can also get there by entering the building on the ground level on 5th Street, taking a left at the front desk, taking the escalators up to the 2nd floor, and taking another left. Also, FYI, Perkelat is closed on weekends.

So glad I found this oasis in the skyways of St. Paul. Their in-house pastries are so amazing… I feel like you get a free boost of positive energy with every visit.

Nice little coffee shop in the SkyWay in downtown St Paul. Coffee is pretty solid(but not so amazing that I would make a long trip for it like SpyHouse or Peace). The sitting area was VERY warm, not sure why this was but I had to take my coffee elsewhere. Pastries were just ok.

I will wake up extra early now to give myself time to come here. The coffee is excellent. The owners are fantastic. He makes fabulous scones. I haven’t liked scones anywhere except from my own oven… Now I’m enamored with his scones. Croissants are yummy too. Will be coming back to try more baked goods. This place is a gem for St Paul. There’s no other place like it. Plus, you should see the effort they put into decorating this place and their display window. Retro cuteness with whimsical charm. A+!

The best coffee shop in the St. Paul skyway! I’ve put off writing a review for too long because I’m at a loss to describe how much I love this place. So here are some words I associate with Perkelat: P ick-me-ups — Delicious caffeinated beverages! They make their syrups in-house(the orange syrup in the Café Valencia has been one of my faves), and they use real vanilla bean to make their vanilla lattes. E nthusiasm — Chris and Kate have a passion for great coffee, wholesome food, and being awesome to their customers. R ecord player — It’s there in the corner, playing great tunes. K reativity — This space makes me want to make art. I notice something interesting about the décor every time I visit. If you want to make art, there is a craft corner for customers’ use, and it has a working typewriter! E clectic — Plants, typewriters, Star Wars action figures, books, stovetop espresso makers and fresh flowers all decorate the space. L aid back — The two cushy chairs across the room from the counter are a welcome break from my office chair, and the natural light from the large window is a welcome break from fluorescent office lights. A rtistry — The ingredients that go into the drinks and meals are thoughtfully chosen. They have vegan and GF offerings. The whipped cream on the hot chocolate is LEGIT! T reats — I can’t resist the breads, muffins, rolls, and cookies. Haven’t had a bad one yet.

Yo. So I don’t drink coffee or tea, but I love the bejesus out of this place. They make the best hot chocolate ever. The owners of the joint are two of the nicest people you’ll find in downtown St. Paul. Bonus: There’s this old school aqua colored chair that is extra comfortable. Seriously. Sit your dumper in that thing and you’re not gonna want to get up. Oh…and if you’re lucky enough to get one of their mint chocolate chip cookies? YOU’REWELCOME.

This is seriously *the cutest and most friendly* coffee shop around. I wish it was open on the weekends so I could enjoy it more frequently. Vegans and others who eschew dairy products will be very pleased to know they have almond, rice, and soy milk.

A great coffee shop in downtown St Paul. Homemade scones and muffins and a very friendly staff! Must try their specialty shaken iced coffee! Yum!
