Cozy little local place! I’ve only tried the falafel(platter and sandwich) but its delicious! Get the«stoplight» to try them all — original, beet, and curry! So fun! Good portions/price and very nice staff! They have a happy hour during the day too with specials on drinks and 50 cent falafel.

I must say Middle Eastern is not usually in my wheelhouse, but when my coworkers decided we were going, I opted to go. I ordered the foxy sandwich. The falafel was fantastic! I got the green sauce, may try a different one next time since it wasn’t my favorite for the dish, but still good. The fries were amazing! I don’t know what they put on them, but everyone was eating them up. Portions are super filling and you will not walk away hungry for sure!

I would come here everyday just for the cheese curds. They are the best I have had in the cities thus far, and pair great with the honey that comes on the side. You also get a heaping portion for just $ 6! I love the ability to customize the menu, and the unique falafel flavors like curry and beet. The falafel salad is a little too simple, but the plate and sandwich are great options. The cauliflower steak is also a must have!

Mediterranean is my weakness and I found this spot that satisfies my cravings. Made aQuick stop for a hearty yet light Mediterranean lunch. This place shows small is not bad. But more cozy and quick. Tried the spotlight(three flavors of falafel) and the Kofta salad(grass fed organic beef with spices). One mouthful and I went wowowow. Lip smacking delicious. So much flavor packed in every morsel. I got spicy fries on the side which made my meal a bit over the top heavy. But that’s gluttony. I will go back to try the Shawarma and the hummus. Cheers!

This is a cute little place with just about 34-seats at little black tables. For some reason the napkin dispensers stick out in my mind; they are all different and kind of funky. Ours was tin with flowers all over it. But I digress… The rest of the decorations were pretty funky too… mirrors on one wall, fox prints on another, and a colorful menu on the front wall. Who wrote that out? It’s a beautiful menu! They have a great menu that takes into account gluten-issues. My friend suggested the place as she has to eat gluten-free. It’s hard to eat out with her because so often she has to eat salad as nothing else will fit her diet needs. Not so here at Foxy Falafel! She can eat almost everything on the menu minus the pita bread! She did resort to salad while we were there and she loved it! She had the Stoplight Falafel with a combination of all 3 flavors, beet being her fave. I had the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, which was really hard to eat as it was so messy. The chicken tasted great tho, especially with the Spicy Harissa sauce on it. The front of house staff was really nice and patient. I’ve always had great service here! I look forward to going here again and trying the Tomato Coconut Bisque soup and the Cheese Curds!

Okay, so this is just for the food truck. And the cheese curds. But the experience with the food truck was so good I’m going to haul myself all the way from downtown to the St. Paul location to try other things. Shout out to the super sweet and nice guy working the food truck who ensured I had a safe eating experience and cared about cross contamination issues. The gluten free cheese curds were better than most of the gluten ones I used to have back in the day, so even if you’re not gluten free … get them. If you’re celiac and CC sensitive, this place cares. So give them a try.

Not my favorite place if I am in the mood for falafels but a good quick stop if you need an okay quick bite. The falafels always are over fried and pretty bland in flavor. I do enjoy their sides, the grape leaves are amazing as are their cheese curds with dill.

My wife and I visited this«hidden gem» recently and loved it! Service was friendly, dining area very clean and positive feeling, food served quickly and tasted great. Will most certainly be back, have to go through the entire menu!

Great service and very helpful front-end staff. For middle eastern food, incredibly bland and completely off texture. Falafels were over-fried, incredibly small, and bland. Interesting concept of «different» falafel flavor but one(the beet one) was pointless, simply done for color. Hummus was probably the second worst hummus I’ve had in the twin cities. I’ll stick to making my own middle eastern food(like another reviewer said). $ 12 for 6 tiny falafels(the size of 3 average sized ones) is absurd. Given that, some of their other options seemed creative but I didn’t try them and probably wouldn’t go back to do so.

Loved this place. The food was delicious, with several options for flavors of falafel and types of meat. I had the falafel salad and cup of soup and both were delicious and a big lunch portion. A very cute space and a good causal lunch spot.

The food was excellent! However the service was terrible :(and it wasn’t the fault of the ONE server, who was trying really hard and was so nice. But for a room of 12 tables one person couldn’t keep up. Our wine came after our food, and the food took 30 minutes. We needed up being late for the concert we were going to.

One of my favorite dining venues! It will make a falafel fan out of the biggest skeptic. It’s nice to go to a restaurant where you do not have to worry about eating crap — everything is made from scratch and definitely not processed! I highly recommend for the food and the ambiance too! Lobve the old rfashioned building — brings me back to my childhood in the 70’s

I got the turkey gyro salad with the pickle plate. The turkey tasted decent but seemed really fatty. The harissa sauce was bland. The salad was fine, nothing special. The pickle plate was tiny and nothing special. Overpriced. I don’t see any reason to come back here.

I wanted to like this place more. i love me some falafel. But the price and the lack of flavor made me feel kinda blah about it. I got the stop light so I could try all the specialties. The only one I thought had good flavor was the beet. Even then they were all super dry. Then I was kind of disappointed when the stoplight only came with one of the sauces. A dab of each sauce on it’s respective flavor would be nice. I tried the harissa and was disappointed. Not a fan at all. The sweet potato fries were fine. The place was FREEZING when I went. I thought it was meh for the price point too. I know it’s all handmade but sheesh. Will not becoming back. I like the idea but the execution is off for me. I’ll stick to my middle eastern joints who really know what they are doing.

I’d like to say that I am too manly to be a falafel guy, but I’d also like to be man enough to admit when I’m wrong. Foxxy falafel has turned me into a falafel guy. Great staff, great food, best falafel this side Qatar(I made that up so don’t get all falafely jaded on me) and just all around a cute little joint. It has a bit of the vegan/gluten free thing going on but their happy to sell you meat if that’s your desire. Anyway, really good spot.

Overall the food was great. Walked into to a cute little space with a big chalkboard with colorful writing that displayed their menu. It was a little overwhelming because this is a walk up and order type of place but luckily my Friends brought me here so I was able to get some help on what to order. We ordered up and everyone received their meals in a timely manner. They do sell beer and wine here so that was nice I was able to have some wine with dinner. We ordered the stop light and the kofta platter and we all shared the cheese curds. Okay, the cheese curds were really good. Not overly greasy, light batter served with honey. Just when you think ‘honey?’, you try it and your mind explodes these little cheese bombs could get any better than they were… yes try the honey. The Falafel was good. The hummus, yum, cabbage, yep. Kofta had great flavor but was a little dry. The two knocks is our pita was dry and as everyone else has pretty much stated the serving size is just too small. Add some thicker pita and a scoop here, a falafel there and a pickle everywhere and that would make a world of difference. It’s not even the money that makes me sad its the fact I feel like a lard ass wanting to go up and order more because I’m not quite there. If your in the hood it’s worth a stop.

I feel terrible giving Foxy only one star. It breaks my heart because I wanted to love it so much. I went once and was not impressed. I went a second time to try and convince myself I was wrong. Still unimpressed, unfortunately. The good: love the vibe, friendly people, outdoor seating is a plus. Grape leaves were decent at best, but not bad. The bad: small portion sizes, high prices — I would expect for the prices I’m paying to have leftovers as in a small woman — nope, I ate it all The ugly: The food is just not good. Call me a middle eastern food snob, sure. I come from Detroit where I frequented Dearborn 2x/week. I dated a middle eastern guy for two years and lived with his family who taught me how to cook. My best friend is lebanese and I learned the best of the best in the kitchen from her and her mother. I worked with several Chaldean women who taught me all of their secrets. The food is just not up to par and shouldn’t be called Mediterranean or middle eastern in any sense. The falafel’s were dry and over breaded, the hummus was chunky(?) when it should be smooth(and piled by the mound on your plate with how cheap it is), and the baba ganoush tasted like it was out of a can from an arabic grocery market. I don’t plan on going back. I’m really disappointed in the«best middle eastern restaurant» in Minneapolis and will definitely be making my own while I’m not visiting Detroit. Sorry Foxy.

Got the stoplight falafel w a salad and some pickled veggies. The falafel and salad were great! Loved the curry falafel most of all. The pickled veggies were so-so, mine was mostly radish and onion, meh. All in all great addition to the neighborhood.

This is exactly how I think fusion and dressing up of standard fare should be done. I find myself comparing foxy and WSK and WSK comes up short on every count. No gimmicky add ins here. I can’t get away from those beet falafel if you paid me, and the pickles are the insanely good real thing for those of us without pressure cookers and green thumbs. Nothing better. Ten bucks gives you a large plate of goodness including a number of these nuggets in preserved lemon and goat cheese sauce(wonderous!) AND a two dollar side o pickles(generously laid out and best split.) but…but…this place is a little overpriced… Really? Joe’s Garage served a substandard lamb burger that verged on sucking for 13 bucks in 1997 money for about a decade. Lamb burger at Foxy is 10 bucks and change. People are paying more for Fuddruckers. Stop the insanity. Lamb burger here was non-greasy(considering that it’s LAMB which simply is grease city) and absolutely one of the better ones I’ve ever met. Usually my lamb intake is not through burger or fusion methods, rather as shawrma at the few places who do this exceptionally well or as indian food– but this is a lamb burger I could respect, with an exceptionally tasty salad as its bedding. The salad alone would be upward of six bucks at any comparable joint. Falafel, let’s break it down. The craptastic alleged falafel at falafel king was up to six bucks something something last I had a sandwich there(this year, not 6BC or something) Wally’s famous and solid falafel sandwich is up to 5.49 of student-sustaining stoner-stuffing adequacy. Just had one. The exceptionally GOOD meza plates at Aida and Filfillah absolutely KILL falafel, as well as hummus and peripheral stuff. They’re cheap. VERY cheap. They’re still six or seven bucks, and you cannot get beer at these places, let alone GOOD beer. The size of a foxy plate doesn’t deviate that much from the appetizer meza at either of these Falafel kings. The whole POINT of this place is that it’s not identical to traditional falafel, a food I know well, have eaten my whole life, and am an intensive nutty stickler about. There’s a handful of places in town that should even be calling what they do falafel — Foxy is one. So essentially, what people are whining about is a buck fifty.(?) If you can co-sign that message, then this is probably a place you’d best avoid. If you pass up beer, this place is priced virtually identically with Aida. If you get a beer, you’re paying Blue Door Pub prices. If you feel underfed, go next door to Keys, where your food will be the same price, a million times worse, but you’ll get LOTS of it. I think Foxy is getting hammered over this issue for a number of reasons — female chef, joint feels«yang» food that dudebros and beef and potato people find somehow annoying(GF, salads, vegetarian emphasis) perception of gentrification(and a short memory that forgets this space used to be Chet’s Taverna, a high-mid price joint that was definitely overpriced and irrelevant to the neighborhood) but one of the reasons is NOT to be found in that buck fifty. No way.

I just moved to the neighborhood so I’ve been to Foxy a couple of times now. Some of the food is great, some of it so-so. On my first visit I tried the falafel sampler, and the curry falafel was my favorite. I would just order the curry next time. You’ve gotta try their ice tea — delicious! On my second visit, I ordered the turkey shawarma and the flavors were spot-on. The pita was quite dry, however, but the harissa sauce delicious. Win some, lose some. Portions: you definitely do not get a lot of food, so if you’re hungry, I would not recommend Foxy. If you want a light meal, then it’s the place for you.

Tried this place the first time today. I stuck with the regular falafel sandwich with the green sauce. My friend had the sandwich with tadziki sauce. Both came with not-so-crispy sweet potato fries. I ordered the fried cauliflower steak with aioli as an accompaniment. Foxy’s falafel is killer, no doubt about that. It came in an agreeably thin pita with lots of cucumber and tomato chunks and a crunchy nest of shredded cabbage. The green sauce was a little bland; the tadziki was better. We brought my granddaughter along; she dug the falafel so much that I ordered and extra five balls for $ 5, with a side of spicy harissa(you only get one kind of sauce per order; this way we could try all three.) The cauliflower tasted great – mostly. The surface was kissed with caramelization and the outer floret edges were melt-in-your-mouth tender. But the core was so hard I couldn’t eat it. Too bad, it was garnished with a really flavorful garlic aioli and I wished I could have eaten the whole thing. I’d like to come here again and try a lamb burger and the falafel variations, maybe during that 25 cent falafel happy hour. I went with three stars instead of four because the prices were a little steep for such a casual place, although the food was really good.

Crumbly falafel, thin and useless pita, soggy sweet potato fries, ten dollars. Their foxhole is full of NOPE. This saddens me, as I work nearby and had high expectations based on previous falafel experiences at such stalwarts as the Loon Deli. I guess I’ll be saving all my loving for Mustafa at the Loon.

I met a dear friend here for lunch(her suggestion) after driving by the newish storefront for months, thinking«I should really try this…»(I LOVE falafel!) I really SHOULD have tried it sooner, because it was phenomenal. The sauces were delicious, the food was hot and perfect and deeply satisfying, and I love the atmosphere of this teeny little restaurant. My friend, who has celiac disease and has to eat gluten-free, had a ton of delicious options as well. I’ve now lived in St. Paul long enough to see many businesses come and go from this Raymond Avenue location(the light rail project isn’t helping) but I really hope this one makes it.

What does the fox say? Falafel Foxy Falafel is a quaint little space that has unique character bursting through in every corner. We came here on a lunch break from class because of the Chinook Book coupons(highly recommend that because it lead us to Foxy). In our group of three we had one vegetarian, one gluten free eater, and one lactose intolerant. Foxy’s menu accommodated all of our needs without the awkward feeling of not being able to order from the menu. I had the spotlight falafel platter. It contained their original, beet, and curry falafels alongside a simple lettuce, tomato, hummus and pita salad. My heart was sold at the thought of beet falafel and then I saw the curry one. Thankfully, they have an option to get both! I’m still craving it and will need to go back. My colleague could not contain her excitement to have tomato coconut bisque. So often she has to skip out on the cream based soups and this one made her day. The only down side was that the fresh gluten free cookies weren’t ready yet. I will have I go back and eat all the things! We returned to class and could not stop talking about how great the experience to Foxy was. By the end of the day, the rest of our classmates wanted to be our friends just to come to lunch with us. Bringing people together, one epic falafel at a time!

Super cute, teeny little spot with tons of personality! But, Foxy Falafel lacks where it matters. My experience was disappointing given the hype surrounding this place(though reading Unilocal reviews clued me in to this in advance tempering the blow). I ordered the curry falafel pita. My BF got a chicken gyro pita. The aroma upon food delivery was heavenly, likely emanating from my curry. The smells alone were nearly satisfying enough to make proceeding with the food unnecessary. Here’s my take on the curry falafel pita: –The pita bread itself was almost paper thin resulting in tears in the dough making eating with your fingers almost impossible –The curry falafel balls were not bad, adding a unique kick of flavor, which falafel too often lacks. –But, the falafel itself, the structure, was nothing outstanding, especially considering falafels are the namesake, the specialty of this restaurant. –Of the 3 side sauces, I chose the harissa. It kicked my meal up a few scoville notches. But, aside from generating heat, the harissa had no flavor. I wouldn’t even venture to say it was spicy, but just hot. At least the sweet potato fries served on the side were yummy. Not too greasy and sprinkled with some flavorful spices. My bf was less than impressed with his chicken gyro than I was with my falafel. I tried a bite of his sandwich. The seasoning was very odd, almost tasted like soil as if I were taking chomping on some fresh earth. Side note: I don’t know the area very well, but parking seems like a hassle. At the same time, I’m an admitted spaz when it comes to operating a vehicle.

Now that I’ve eaten a few times at Foxy, it’s time to share! It’s a lovely little falafel shop, well-designed for how small the spaces is. The menu is equally well-designed, featuring a select few things that they do really well. Pair that with always-friendly service and I’m basically their biggest fan. The menu has expanded from the truck/farmers market stand, so it includes things like a lamb burgers, shakshouka, turkey shawarma, marinated beets, pesto potatoes, fried cheese curds and housemade baked goods. All the desserts are gluten-free. I very much enjoy this, since I try to avoid gluten most of the time. The first time I ordered the stoplight falafel salad, which includes all the falafel flavors on a big-ass Greek salad. The beet, curry and classic balls are all tasty, though I find myself partial to the curry. I’ve also had the turkey shawarma salad, which was good but not as good as the falafel or the lamb burger. Last time, I ordered the burger at brunch(when it comes with pesto potatoes and an egg on top!) and holy wow. This weekend version also comes with harissa(spicy sauce) and is served on Salty Tart’s milk buns… which are the best buns in the world. They offer a gluten-free option for $ 1 extra, but it’s only so-so and I spent a decent part of my meal staring down my friend’s regular milk bun until she offered me a bite. The pesto potatoes are phenomenal as well. Don’t skip those. I know I’m paying for quality here so I don’t mind, but I do wish it was a smidge less expensive. I tend to go overboard with my orders and get ALL the sauces and ALL the pickles and ALL the sides… and it can quickly turn into a pricey meal. That said, the happy hour is a STEAL. $ 1 off beer and wine, 25 cent falafel balls, $ 1 off sides and $ 1 pickle plates from 3 – 6 pm Tues-Fri. Other notes: –It’s tiny, so best bring a friend or two at a time. –Do not skip the sauces. They are all wonderful and I want to eat them by the spoonful.
