What a wonderful find! A friend of mine suggested we stop on out way back from our weekly pow-wows are Colossal Café and I’m so glad we did! The reputation this place has for having amazing pieces of mid-century modern items is not undeserved! You walk in and it’s packed with treasures! Of course I wanted 20 different items in there but I was so overwhelmed by how cool all the stuff was I told myself I would have to think about it and come back. Come back, I will! I think the prices are quite fair as well which is always something to take into consideration in any vintage store. Sure, there are a few items that seem ridiculously priced but overall it’s a very accessible collection and whether you buy a whole bunch of things or just an accent piece, it would all fit nicely into someone’s home. The woman behind the counter was friendly and said hello to us when we came in, but left us to ‘ooo’ and ‘aaah’ on our own. I will definitely be back to pick up some items that make me look like I have a «keen eye for design». This place will make you look stylish even if you aren’t! ;)

I haven’t been to this store in nearly a decade but I was in the neighborhood and decided to drop by. Man, am I glad I did! There’s a select but awesome collection of vinyl and a ton of vintage home goods. The prices seemed fairly reasonable based on the high quality of the gear. The owner was really friendly and didn’t throw any ‘tude when I said I was just wasting time while waiting for someone. I’ll be headed back there soon to pick up a couple of things I can’t get out of my head!

My fiancé and I just moved to the area and traveled to many mid century modern type of places today. We stopped at Succotash as our last stop. Let me say, this shop was everything we were looking for! The owner is so nice and very knowledgeable. Very down to earth. Everything in the store was in great condition if not almost perfect, especially for being vintage. I would be comfortable taking anything home from this store and using it right away. You can tell the stuff is full of life. Very cool pieces. I had purchased three things and could have purchased so much more. I will be back very often and so excited we found Succotash. The prices were something I didn’t even think twice about. Add them on Facebook and you can see all the new items. I recommend this shop to anyone who is truly into mid century modern.

I stumbled across this store when I was driving around. Great stuff from the 60’s and 70’s. More knickknacks, kitchen than clothes but all in great condition. Kind of like stepping back in time or walking into a museum. I will definately be back to check it out.

Prices are super reasonable. Very neat store so it’s easy to see stuff. If I lived in the Twin Cities, I would’ve bought WAY more than I planned. I ended up buying this beautiful bowling bag in excellent condition, and a white vintage bag. Both were very reasonable and the owner was very nice. I would definitely go back here when I visit again.

I stopped in to Succotash for the first time yesterday and instantly fell in love. The owner was behind the counter smiling to himself as squeals and«oohs» and«oh my gosh“s and«that’s so cute!“s burst forth from my lips at every new shelf and turn. He must get that a lot. I hate to use the reference«Mad Men», but it’s what immediately popped to mind while browsing.(I do believe I did say, «Betty Draper’s kitchen» out of the corner of my mouth to my co-worker when looking at a particularly precious set of vintage tea/coffee cups.) It’s all 50’s-60’s(and some 70’s) mod and glam – well presented and quite reasonably priced. Such a cute little place! I’m so glad I’m in the neighborhood and shall be stopping by here frequently. Tip: On the weekends you can park in the US Bank lot across the street.

Vintage items from the past is my forte, and here is another awesome shop tucked away on a side street(next to an really great hair salon). The have an awesome collection of vintage furniture, art deco, nick knacks, etc. Hey local film makers who are doing retro style films or plays(we have worked with local film director Christopher R. Mihm) here’s another great spot to get that retro vintage look for what ever you needs might be. Totally Rad Hot Spot in deed… Tell em the ZERO sent ya.

Succotash is a wonderful hidden treasure. It’s off University Ave, on same block as Keys Café. The owners always have a steady rotation of vintage postcards, table settings, furniture, jewelry, paintings, sunglasses, shirts, purses, and records. Overall the prices vary depending on the item. The furniture tends to be too expensive for me but always gorgeous and in perfect condition. There have been few times that I’ve left with empty hands, for that reason I’d have to say most everything else is affordably priced. Some of my favorite purchases from Succotash have included a Keith Herring tea set, a couple of retro tableclothes, a vintage Cincinnati Bengals football sweater, and some amazingly gaudy & perfect estate style jewelry.

I am obsessed with vintage and Succotash is just so cute. The displays are always creative and give me great ideas; they also don’t overcrowd their stock, which can make it nearly impossible to figure out what’s going on. Their prices are also very fair and I’ve been delightfully surprised to get some great finds here. My crappy old kitchen table is much happier now with the great tablecloths I find every time I go in. A must stop, especially if you’re on the St. Paul Retro Loop.

This is my favorite St. Paul Retro Loop stop. This shop isn’t jammed full like some are, the lighting is good, it’s clean, and the selection is always top notch. I’ve never actually made a purchase here, but I will never give up looking.

I used to live a mile from Succotash and would go there so often my husband had to put me a one item per month limit. There is something about this cheerful little shop that brings me back. It seems pricey at first until you do your homework a bit you realize the prices are all more or less the going rate for that kind of thing.
