A very nice Dairy Queen with friendly and hard working employees

Ordered two small blizzards, they were pretty skimpy on the ingredients. Mostly softserve in the cups.

This Dairy Queen is awesome! Wifi available, Hot Dogs with Chili and Cheese, Polish Sausage and easy parking. Great place to stop by for a cone or dog and people watch on Snelling. It is seasonal though so make sure to go between February/March and November.

I’ll be honest. I haven’t been to a DQ in YEARS. But the other day, we were passing by and my husband had some kind of nostalgic whim for Mr. Misto shakes and those chocolate-dipped cones, so we stopped. Hence, I had my first peanut buster parfait in like 10 years. It was pretty darn delicious. The gentleman who helped us really did a bang-up job, offering thick layers of fudge between the ice cream and the salty peanuts. There was even almost too much fudge — a rare thing in any sundae. But I said ALMOST. :-) One thing I love about this DQ in particular is that it’s a really old-school DQ with the old shaped building, the old sign, the old freezer case that faces the front of the building and even the old windows where you order. And, another great thing is it has its own really big parking lot. It’s tough to compete with Izzys on Marshall, and really you shouldn’t compare the two. Two totally different types of ice cream experiences. Both fabulous in their own way and unique for two different types of ice cream experiences and cravings.

It’s been a while, but my family and I used to come to this DQ a lot. Our daughter was 1−2yrs old at the time and always ordered a bunless hotdog with cheese. One evening, my husband and our daughter walked to this DQ and got the usual order. The teen girl making the order flat-out refused to make a bunless hotdog w/cheese for our daughter! She even refused to put the bun on the side! She claimed that she HAD to put the hotdog in the bun and couldn’t sell it any other way. None of the other girls working there bothered to put the customer first. Needless to say, my hubsand and daughter left with no hotdog, no refund, nothing. Our daughter cried all the way home! It broke my heart. :( We never, ever went back to this DQ and still avoid it like the plague to this day, years later. Just a complete and utter disrespect for paying customers. I understand the problem lies with the teenage girls working there, but it reflects badly on the business as a whole. The best DQ, btw, is the one on Century Ave on the border of Oakdale and Maplewood! SUPER service there!

Another way to become the best dad in the world for 1o minutes is to say«lets go to Dairy Queen»! Back in the day I would get one grape mister misty(or arctic blast, or whatever they are called now… pfff) a week… at least. Love them… Lately have been crushing on the fudge sunday or blizzards… My wife got a root beer float the last time we were there and I was thinking about how brilliant that was. They also sell ice cream cakes that are killer. Folks like dilly bars… meh. DQ is not stone cold or Izzys, but it is a fun place to go, and I love ordering from the windows old school style.

I’m breaking down and writing I’m a fan for this DQ. I’d better since I made an excuse to come here twice this weekend. The first was totally legit, after some tender, but burning spicy hot zilzil tibs at Fasika’s. Ironically it’s the rotd by Kedar. Sunday was the day before a 4 week fast. It’s such a handy location, and both times we were able to pull up in front with NOLINE. Plus huge portions of a totally filled medium sized cone. The large would kill me. As Nick J says it is just a dairy queen. As good as the ice cream is others are better and have natural ingredients, so I’d better keep it in perspective. I got a free one from the super owner after an employee gave me a skimpy portion.

Happiness is a double chocolate cone-dip on a hot August night in the Midwest. The bright neon, drippy ice cream and bright red picnic tables provide the perfect back-drop for late-night chats and sugary indulgence. Dairy Queen is iconic.

Seeing the eyes of women and children light up when they know that they’re going to Dairy Queen is a sight to behold. They offer all manner of soft serve, which any rationalizing person will tell you is almost health food compared to regular ice cream. Apparently Dairy Queen doesn’t tell people about the merits of soft serve because the public, in their infinite wisdom, will think that they changed something and freak out. So all manner of diet slaying is to be found here in ice cream treats. They also have frozen ice cream cakes and other pre-packaged treats that you can keep on hand at home. Just what you need, I’m sure.
