Great experience here! Once I discovered that this place has ice cream flights, I had to make it a point to visit. The shop is tiny but the staff is friendly. The ice cream was tasty and they also make their own pop which was also very good! I will certainly go back for another«snowball flight».

After Unilocaling an ice cream place that wouldn’t be as packed as Sebastian Joe’s or Izzy’s, I decided that we should go to Cold Front. I was sold as soon as I found pictures of the soda and ice cream flights. They make their own sodas here. They had fun flavors like lemongrass and pomegranate. I was dying… DYING I TELLYOU… to try the blood orange one but they were all out. What a sad day indeed. However, I ended up loving the pomegranate one and my husband liked the strawberry flavor. I got us a flight of four ice cream cones. I don’t remember what all I got besides my tried-and-true cookie dough, but I do remember they were delicious. The cones are the perfect sample sizes, just a few bites of each so you don’t go on sugar overload. There were two people behind the counter and they were extremely friendly and helpful. I want to say the fella that helped me’s name was Hunter? Anyway, class acts, the both of them. Come here for some deliciousness and leave with a happy tummy.

Cute lil’ ice cream/coffee place. Unfortunately, it’s very cramped, but the ice cream was delicious.

I came in here recently for a quick ice cream fix, and because I have been meaning to try it since they opened. The birthday cake ice cream in a sugar cone was awesome! I had the kiddie scoop size, which was plenty and only $ 3. I will definitely be back in to try an ice cream flight!

Great ice cream at great prices. Really cool vintage soda fountain vibe with awesome drip coffee from Dogwood. Nice people. The soda and ice cream flights are fun.

I love everything about this place! I was definitely drawn to the fact that they had ice cream flights. They also have it for sodas too. I love that they have older equipment and atmosphere. Great service and super yummy ice cream. Did I mention it is right next to a bar/yummy burger place? Need I say more?

This ice cream shop cannot be more conveniently placed! It’s right next door to the Nook which by the way is also worth visiting. The soda and ice cream flights are pretty awesome. It’s not just for kids! Or maybe because I had one and I’m no kid. The ice cream flavors are off the chain. My favorite one is the lemon one. It was so incredibly yummy. Fresh, tangy and the ice cream was creamy as !@#$. Come here after your Nook’s juicy lucy explosion experience for some frozen treat. I can’t wait to go back to try their floats and soda. Soda and ice cream flights. What an awesome concept!

I’m surprised there aren’t more(positive) reviews. Took my sister and nephews there on a hot, hot day and was impressed enough to return a couple of days later. My nephews(whose taste is suspect) got floats with vanilla and grape soda. I know, but I love them anyway. All sodas seem to be mixed when ordered, which is just awesome, except the(brewed) root beer. They have a soda flight, so you can taste three for about $ 5. You can also get a flight of mini-cones, and they served my sister a single mini-cone, which was nice, since at e.g. Grand Old Creamery the choice is between approximately a half-gallon or gallon sized cone. I ordered a lime paleta, and the poor kid really felt bad that he discovered that they only had strawberry. It was excellent, just fresh strawberries and sugar frozen on a stick, and obviously house-made. My sister and I returned for breakfast before I left town; Cold Front is a café, too. Their coffee(Dogwood, I think) is good and reasonably priced. They have a coffee club where you can get unlimited coffee for a month for $ 40, and that includes espresso drinks(but I’m not sure if it includes chai, which they also have; it may well). If I still lived here, I would make them regret that offer. They open early, too(went at 8am and they had clearly been open a while). We came with a special mission: we wanted to have affogato, which is ice cream with espresso poured over. In the morning, the server was the owner, and he’s a nice, friendly guy. Their ice cream is from the Chocolate Shoppe, a Madison, WI tradition, and really good. They have 12 – 16 flavors, and they rotate them at different rates depending on availability and season. My sister had a chocolate affogato, and I had peach; I wasn’t sure if peach would be good in an affogato, so I asked the owner, and he said that he thought it would work(since it was cream-based), but that if I didn’t like it, he would get me something else. The affogatos were about $ 5, which is perfectly reasonable; if I’m right that it’s Dogwood coffee, this might be the least expensive café to do so. The espresso was good and the peach affogato worked well(and the peach ice cream is really stellar, with peach chunks). They make egg creams, but I haven’t had one yet. A good egg cream is hard to find in the Cities, but these guys know what they are doing mixing syrup with soda water, so I have to believe they could do it well. All in all a great idea for a café, very good coffee and ice cream, and excellent service. I don’t know if they have wifi, but I wouldn’t pick this as a work location; they don’t have a ton of seating(although they do have a counter, which is fun).

Great ice cream! Espresso oreo and this !@$& just got real are the best! Their young staff were super friendly and gave many other ideas of good places to check out. Great kids you have working there, best ice cream in the twin cities!

Luv the flights of ales and ice cream. More outdoor seating would make this a five star spot.

What a wonderful addition to St. Paul’s culinary landscape! Classic and cozy in that St. Paul way, but just hip enough to show off to your Minneapolis cousins. I loved the flight of homemade sodas… very nice service and they really«get» what makes the(nearly) long-lost soda fountain culture so distinct and valuable. I suspect I was smart to go at a quiet time on a weekday.

Really fun place! Store is pretty small and if it’s busy seating can be a headache. But the ice cream is so worth it!!! My son loved the ‘flight’ so cute and a great idea!!! Prices are reasonable and staff seems friendly. My only complaint is the scooper seemed really slow. But we weren’t in a rush. Will be back for sure!

I love all the ice cream shops in town but sometimes a quick treat can turn into $ 25 very quickly. We stopped into this adorable little place and love it. It’s cheaper in price but easily same high quality as all the popular places. The owner is really great; super friendly and fun to chat with. I had the«this $h*t just got real»(it’s a legit flavor) and it’s amazing! Definitely will be back!

Stopped in tonight after burgers at the nook. Great service and the ice cream was the best I have had in the cities. Nice and creamy with a great consistency. Will definitely go back over any other local shops.

Awesome little ice cream shop with great service. We had burgers at the Nook and stopped in next door to check it out. It was about 7 pm on a beautiful Sunday. They were busy, but not crazy. I wanted to try several flavors and she gave me samples of all 4 I wanted, plus my kiddo’s. And she let me mix two flavors in my small that I ordered, because I couldn’t decide. So nice. They also have homemade sodas and coffees, which looked really good. I would definitely come back if I am in the area. The ice cream was delicious and reasonably priced.

I adore zanzibar chocolate; it is the best chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had. What could be better than a coffee bar and ice cream shop? Not much! Awesome, convenient location next to the Nook… dangerously delicious combination. Staff is friendly and full of awesomeness. Plastic spoons are wimpy. It would complete the experience to have real bowls and tableware for dine-in guests. The store itself is adorable so it would definitely add to the charm.

I hope and wish all the best for Cold Front. The coffee tastes great(for those that miss Kopplin’s). However, on a work day morning speed makes a big difference and 10 minutes is a lot of time to wait for a Latte in an empty shop.(I know, first world problems!) Definitely my new weekend coffee spot and new contender for the weekdays!

Cold Front just opened up and it is already buzzing! Serving up Dogwood coffee along with other hot drinks, ice cream, and flavored sodas there is certainly something for everyone. I had a Minni-Soda flight which was flavorful, fresh, and fun, I just can’t wait to try more flavors! I really enjoy the way Cold Front has a very old fashion feel while also feeling upbeat and trendy. The staff is very friendly, and the owner Steve was really nice! Don’t hesitate to give these guys a try, I got a feeling they are about to blow up!

Cold front takes over after lynden’s closure and they are doing a wonderful job! The Minni-soda flight of all-natural signature sodas was amazing even on this cold winter day! I would try blood orange & beet root! Owners were extremely friendly and helpful! Highly recommend checking Cold Front out!
