Nappy By Nature

This one star is for the Decore only. Very beautiful Artifacts. However the owner is the worst! I went there twice, the second time to give her the benefit of the doubt. She was cold and curt both times. Some nice nasty. She specialize in locks not natural hair care. My first visit I asked for a wash, deep conditioner, and trim. She washed ok but the way she handled my after I told her to skip the trim. I let her just blow dry my hair and I left. I believe she charged me 30 dollars for that mess. So disappointed. The second time I knew what to expect but again I gave her the benefit of the doubt and hoping that another stylist would be there. She was not. This nasty old woman washed my hair deep conditioned it, and blow dried my hair. She said to me… I’m doing this side of your hair so keep your head turned around. Pause… I was shocked… she gave me a flash back! Not in a good way… I was about to respond, but decided not to. I just withheld her tip. Hair was a mess for 40.00. Don’t go there you will be disappointed.

Horrible experience! I’ve been growing out my hair for about 6 months. I did the big chop back in August and have been wearing braids and twists. I was finally ready to wear my Afro when I went into this dump. I explained to the lady what I wanted… just even out a little bc I wanna wear my natural hair. She referred me to a barber. WTH? George I think his name was. Cut off everything… all of my new growth. He said don’t worry, I’m not cutting a lot. this is to make it more manageable. Of course my hair wasn’t manageable, it was dry and not wet! I will Never go back nor recommend that place to anyone!

I didn’t grow up going to the salon regularly and, in fact, detest salons. But my entire worldview has changed after visiting Nappy By Nature.
Firstly, I made an appointment at a certain time, and I received service right after I came in. This may not seem like a big deal but for black salons, that’s a novelty.
My stylist was Jessica and she guided me through everything she did with my hair, another great thing. She was very gentle when washing my hair and I the deep condition w/​hot oil treatment was very effective considering how dry my hair has been. I trust very few people w/​my natural hair, but she handled it with care and most importantly, respect.
I came in with a picture of a braided style I wanted and Jessica suggested that she jazz it up a little. She started doing her thing but she always gave me the option of taking out the braids if I didn’t care for it. She braided carefully and tightly, but did not hurt me at all. By the end, my hair was a braided perfection! I felt like heaven.
This was a wonderful experience. Pleasant, helpful stylist who also offered good conversation. The salon was clean and beautifully decorated. All of the people, including the barbers were kind and professional.
I thought I was going to break the bank for 3 and ½ hours of haircare but she only charged me $ 75! Needless to say, I left her a decent tip and will definitely be going back.
