While staying at the DoubleTree Hotel, we decided to have breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, Twigs Café & Lounge. We had the Sunday breakfast buffet, which consisted of the normal scrambled eggs, link sausage, bacon, fruit, breads, and juices. The food was okay, but nothing special. In addition to the buffet food, you could order one of the restaurant omelets from the menu. I ordered a sausage, bacon, and cheese omelet. It came fairly quickly, but basically was chopped link sausage and bacon from the buffet line, with shredded cheese on top. It tasted fine. If you are staying at the hotel, and don’t want to go off site, Twigs Café is okay, but a bit overpriced.

WOW it feels like I ate at a totally different place then the other reviewers. Yes for the most part this place was clean, it’s in the hotel so it’s convenient, the service was OK. We came here for dinner with our oldest son who was leaving in the morning for the Navy, because I have a large family of 8, they pushed some tables together and sat us, but not before yelling at my 2 year old to not blow out a candle(at his height) right next to the«Wait to be stated sign». Would have been nice if they would have given me a chance to discipline my son before they jumped in. Once at the tables, one of the 3 they pushed together, kept tipping if you touched it wrong, I kept waiting for my son’s food to fly across the room, thank God that never happened. They came out with water right away, then about 10 minutes later they came to take our drink orders then maybe another 5 – 10 minutes they came for our food orders. My husband and I ordered Prime Rib, my husbands rare and mine medium rare, my daughter in law ordered the chicken, then 4 of our children ordered the«Chinese» buffet and that was angle hair pasta with some onions called«Chow main“and some«spring rolls», rice, and some kind of chicken pieces, there of course was a very small salad selection and some melon to also choose from. The desserts looked like they had been out all day, but my boys enjoyed them. What they liked the best about the buffet was the tomato bisque, of all things. Out of the food ordered off of the menu I can say that it lacked not only seasoning, but flavor. Our prime ribs were both cooked the same and were very hard to cut into, the baked potato was not cooked all the way and was hard in some spots, I was told the chicken needed salt and was a little dry. I was not impressed at all. I was not expecting 5 star food or even 4 star, I understand that this is a hotel, but it seamed like all the food was left overs that they heated up for who ever asked for it next, I swear that my prime rib had been cooked on more than one occasion. So because the breakfast buffet came with our room, I took my boys and was disappointed again. They had croissant breakfast sandwiches with egg, ham and cheese, again I felt they lacked flavor and I added a sausage link to add flavor, they also had sausage links, bacon that should have maybe been patted down with a paper towel first, limited fruit selection, some pancakes, yummy(yes I said Yummy) muffins, and some other breakfast items spread throughout the restaurant area. If I were to stay at this hotel again(and I never plan to do that) I would go outside the hotel to eat, there is a mall across the street and a restaurant within walking distance that I would give a try if I was stuck staying in this hotel again. As far as this food goes, compared to other Hotel restaurants I’ve eaten in… never again.

Exceptional service, decent food at a great price. Came here with my son, as the air force deploys from this location. They sure treat the recruits very good. Enjoyable

Ok, take it from a flight attendant that eats all over the world. The food(breakfast buffet) was about a 5 out of 10. But the saving grace was my waitress… Awesome, I mean awesome… like 20 out of 10… is that even possible? lol. Kathy is her name. What ever was over cooked or cold on the buffet Kathy took the initiative to bring me fresh. She was so attentive, not just for me but everyone she was serving. I would definitely eat here again, as long as Kathy was my waitress. She is the BEST!!! p. s. if you have an omelette, make sure that they put the cheese into the omelette when cooking it. My omelette was served with the cheese on the side. All in all, TWIGSCAFE is receiving 5 out of 5 stars, all because of Kathy. Breakfast served by Kathy has been the highlight of my stay at this Doubletree Hotel. Thank you Kathy! Tex

Eat here when I come to Sacramento a couple days out of the month and have to say the food is great but the best service I’ve ever gotten here has to generally come from Jiya. She’s always so nice and friendly but not only helpful. She definitely deserves a thumbs up! Some of the things we generally eat here are the prime rib, ahi tuna salad, French onion soup, breakfast buffet, quesadillas, and garden omelette and deserts are pretty tasty as well. This place is always clean and most of the time has a great atmosphere. Will keep staying at the double tree and keep dining at Twigs restaurant!

Had dinner here while staying in the hotel last night and it literally took 12.5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there after they seated me. Food was okay but nothing to write home about.

This is a hotel restaurant without much ambience to brag about. But I was very surprised by the deliciousness of the mushroom tortellini I had for dinner. It was FANTASTIC! Other guests I spoke with highly recommended the Salmon. I did have one meal I wasn’t as impressed with. The Ahi-tuna salad, on the lunch menu. It’s described as a salad with Asian marinade. But it was really a decent sized piece of peppery tuna on a few marinated snow peas.(Very little greenery/fiber to be found.) Nothing like what you’d expect a salad to look like. Still, I’d recommend getting a meal or two if staying at the hotel.

Food is very good but the service. Is. So. Slow. And when my meal finally came after what seemed like forever, the server sort of slid my plate onto the table and my fish tacos went flying off. So then I had to wait another 20 minutes.

It’s been a few years since I’ve stayed at the Sacramento Doubletree. I wasn’t much impressed with the local restaurants and have avoided this hotel since However, here I am in 2014. I noticed the signs promoting their new ‘award winning chef’, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, it’s my first night and I am setting up so I decided to just dine downstairs. I was pleasantly blown away. I ordered the Broiled Dixon Rack of Lamb Chops. These were excellently prepared and presented with sautéed vegetables and a small goat cheese and caramelized onion filled tortilla. A trip to their salad bar was included. Twigs wine offering is not bad either. You should be able to find a decent wine to go with your meal. The service was very good too. Attentive, but not pushy. The biggest drawback to Twigs is the décor. Or, lack thereof. It can be best described as a very nice Village Inn or IHOP. The new chef deserves better and so do we.

Wow, this is one tasty little café within this DoubleTree location! The lounge was clean with comfy colorful chairs and small tables. The service from bartender, Keith, was on point and he always had service with a smile. He also filled my water glass from time to time and provided some great recommendation. We sat at the bar and here’s what we ordered: ~ Mixed Green Salad($ 5): A spring mix salad with lettuce, tomatoes, parmesan cheese, and croutons. This was your typical salad. Simple and tasted fresh. ~ Coconut Shrimp($ 11): It came with two sauces, szechuan and spicy peanut; With the szechuan sauce tasting better than the peanut sauce. BUTOHEMGEE! This coconut shrimp was unexpectedly delicious! I guess I was expecting an Elephant Bar boringness, but it wasn’t. Fresh shrimp that was fried just right, and not overcooked. They weren’t jumbo prawns, but above average in size. This works because if they were any bigger, then it might be chewy. Soft texture and crunch outside. You’ve got to try these! ~ Baja Fish Tacos($ 8): Grilled tilapia tacos on a flour totilla. Topped with shredded lettuce, black olives, and a creamy dill sauce. This too was unexpectedly delicious as well! I don’t particularly like tilapia, but this was also cooked right. The fish was so tender and just combined well with the lime and chipotle salsa. Another winning appetizer! After thinking about it; It appears that I’ve only tried things on the Starter side of the menu. I’ve yet to try any sandwiches or entrees, but someday I will. For now, this place gets a solid 4 stars alone based on service and taste. Not to mention the two LED monitors to catch a game or two a the bar. If you’re staying at the DoubleTree, I’d opt for eating hear versus the all the fast food crap thats down the street.
