Nicer than«hole-in-the-wall» but not a trendy hip midtown spot, this is a relatively low-key neighborhood restaurant. While parking is scarce, there’s also a large lot across the street I guess you could probably use, we were able to get one of the 3 spots in front of Three Sisters(plus a handicap I think). However, I don’t think parking is really an issue, most of the other patrons seemed to have walked over. We were seated promptly, though there wasn’t an attendant at the door right away. We chose to sit outside on the patio, which is street side but it’s a calmer side street so traffic isn’t too bothersome. Inside is a bit moody and dark, not scary dark but lower lit and a bit calm to handle my two boys. Our table had two outdoor patio chairs and two basic waiting room metal and fabric office chairs… which was really odd. Like, really really odd. Like, why are these even at a restaurant? No matter, they weren’t uncomfortable(though in the sun, the metal might get hot). Just really odd. But the bathrooms were clean, so who cares about the chairs. I was pleased to see a breakfast menu that was still available, serving pancakes! Such a great surprise for us, as pancakes for over much better with my non-foodie children. I stole a bite and they’re tasty pancakes, too. I ordered the chicken chimichanga($ 10) without jalapeños because I’m a pansy, but my request was easily accommodated. It was still a bit spicy, but had wonderful flavor. The sauce kept everything moist but not soggy. The side of rice and beans were also well done, the whole meal was very enjoyable. My husband devoured his carnitas burrito($ 10), but his burrito judgement is very loose. Any burrito will do. Any. Though, he was happy to hear I would like to return so I think he did especially enjoy his burrito. Admittedly, I’m pretty lenient on Mexican food, after living in other states for a few years… you guys. California has amazing Mexican food. Please don’t take it for granted. Some day you might not live in California… you might live where enchiladas come topped with kraft thick shredded cheddar in a sauce that is suspiciously similar to ketchup mixed with those taco sauce packets from taco bell… Enjoy the neighborhood spots like Three Sisters. It’s a gem. We are fortunate to live near them.

I went here for the first time tonight, I have to say the ambiance is wonderful, food good. However it took 15 minutes for someone to ask if we want anything to drink, that’s just the beginning. When they say«Three Sisters». I think that is the whole staff. If you don’t have 2 hours to spend for dinner don’t bother. Sad to say because the food was good.

My husband and I had lunch here today. The food was very good. The server was terrible. We sat 10 minutes at our table and no one acknowledged us. Then the male server rushed up and took our order. He seemed distant and didn’t do much for the other tables either. We ate on the patio. A lovely day and not really crowded. I asked for more salsa and it took him a while to bring it. He never came back to ask us how our meals were. Just not a very great server.

It was a decent chili relleno(perhaps more egg batter needed) in a mild cheesy sauce. It also comes with rice(not the fluffy, light as air version) and choice of beans(black, pinto, refried) & tortilla(corn or flour). The chips and salsa came first(guacamole & pico de gilo are upon request only). Someone liked his raspberry margaritas(i had a diet cola) with his carnita meal. I think service was upon request too… some one in our party kept disappearing(going to get a wait person?).

I ordered a quesadilla for lunch ala carte. This is not what usually arrives. This is 1⁄3 the size and GREASY. This is a Greasadilla for $ 6.00 wtf? Today 5−12−16 I went back and talked to the woman who said she was the owner. I told her what happened and she had a blank stare like a deer in headlights and said NOTHING! I said to her ‚“Lo siento tambien” She still was speechless!

Just now leaving Three Sisters on Folsom. Really disappointing experience. I’m sorry, but if I’m going to pay $ 50($ 60 with tip) for a pitcher of margaritas and a single salad, I should be able to expect that salad to come as ordered — I asked for no onions, simple and common request, but it came littered with uncooked white onions, the strongest kind. I would have corrected the issue with the server but she never returned Never came to ask how my salad was, never asked if we would like to order more drinks, never offered us water. When the bill came, I paid it and left my tip then waited for someone, anyone, to come check on our table or offer me a box for my clearly unfinished salad. 15 minutes later I gave up and tracked someone down as our server was clearly more interested in her phone than coming by our table even once following initial service. I’ve never been more tempted to change the tip amount on a bill than I was tonight. I didn’t for concern of a guilty conscience, but it was not an earned tip. Really disappointing, I will not be back. This location needs to maybe learn a thing or two from its midtown location. One store is clearly better.

So far 2 strikes– Strike 1 ambivalent person that asked if I wanted indoor or outdoor seating. I requested outdoor in the shade and he promptly handed me a menu, napkin and utensils and said«I’m sure you will find a shady area» then he turned around and left. Strike 2 — I waited a full 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged. I placed my order. I have now been here for over a half hour. No food yet. For God’s sake, this is Mexican food not a haute cuisine restaurant. I have to give the food presentation a D. Did not make me excited to eat. Quality was far below price charged. Will I come back? No way Jose. Too many other good Mexican food restaurants around.

Superb Mexican cuisine and the best margaritas in Sacramento. Reasonably priced and very pleasant décor… what more could you ask for? Seriously.

This is a cute Mexican restaurant downtown. We sat on the patio it was nice outside and little birds stopped by our table for some chips. The food was good(I had the carne Asada). We also had the flan for dessert which was homemade. It was very good.

I would go 3+, if it weren’t for the service. It really can be bad at times. The food is pretty good, but can be a little uneven. My only complaint is the family atmosphere. I was unaware that children could be served where liquor is. And, after a number of family fun nights with the kiddies running around while their moms dish around the table(the last straw was when a tiny child helped herself to my plate, and mommy just laughed!), we have stopped dining in. We just order to go.

Wasn’t what I expected. The service sucks. I sat and waited for someone to wait on me and when i flagged someone down they looked at me like i was crazy. The food sucks, it’s no Tres Hermanas…

Business lunch– had to quickly order. had the carnitas burrito! Yum! The carnitas were crispy and tender! Rice is different than I’ve had before– but very good! Pinto beans had good flavor too. My company orders lunches from 3 Sisters for special occasions and they told me it is always hot and fresh. Good thing I do not live closer!

While the chicken nachos are delicious, the service was terrible. Our order was taken and the next time we saw our server was after we asked another worker for our bill. No water refills. No inquiry into how our food was. No service really. Perhaps this restaurant should consider hiring more than two servers to wait on the 20+ tables

I love this place. I make it a point of coming here every time I am home for a visit. The service is great, the food amazing and plentiful, and the drinks as yummy as they come. It is always a nice way to remind myself of the heaven that is Mexican food.

This place sucks! I came here with some friends for dinner. Food was nothing special. Service was AWFUL! Our server pretty much abandoned our table. I needed a refill of water so bad that I walked up and grabbed the pitcher myself and refilled my own cup and the rest of my friends. WTH?! I will never return here again. Not worth my time or money.

Came to this restaurant for lunch with my coworkers today. In summary, the food is decent, however the service is very mediocre and thus explains the only three out of five stars rating for this restaurant. There is no hostess or host to greet you or to help you assign seats. We waited around for several minutes before a waiter came over to seat us. However he then disappeared soon after that not to be seen again for several more minutes. I don’t really blame the waiter for the slow service, but mainly because the restaurant is severely understaffed. Food wise, the chips that come with all the entrées are decent and have a nice conch to them. In addition the salsa has a smoky and moderate spice to them. It is odd that they bring over two trays of salsa, but each tray has the same exact salsa. The chimichanga was well seasoned and the black beans were nice and soft and warm. After eating, we have to once again hunt down our waiter to get the check for table. He did not come to refill the water one time during our 45 minutes spent at the restaurant. My friend had to hunt him down just to get a refill of his Diet Coke. And even after the refill was done for his Diet Coke, The waiter never offered to refill the water for the other parties that table. Overall, the restaurant has decent food but is very lacking in service. If you’re coming for a relaxing lunch in the neighborhood, there are other places to go to that have more consistent service and the same quality of food.

Great neighborhood spot, for casual, nice atmosphere and a good pitcher of margaritas. The food is traditional Mexican entrees, the enchiladas are delicious, we liked them in all the sauce choices, red, verde, and mole. The taco’s are good, but they are fried, a little rich. The mixed fajitas were also good with warm tortillas. The bar looks like a nice spot for a beer and watch sports. Good service, lively atmosphere, fresh food, and nice Mexican art.

3.5 stars Three Sisters opened their Mexican eatery in 1999 in east Sac. There’s a bar, and tended succulents and shrubs screen the patio from the noise of traffic on nearby Folsom Blvd., while a large Chinese Pistache tree provides shade. Cards accepted. If you want to avoid the weekend brunch hour-long wait at Bacon & Butter or Tower, Three Sisters rarely has a wait. We stopped in for $ 9 huevos rancheros on a quiet Saturday morning. Their version includes a slice of ham and homemade beans and boiled potatoes. The portion was generous enough that we opted to split($ 2 charge) and still had enough to eat. Our complimentary chips were still warm and served with a blended mild red salsa — both excellent. Got to sample the chile verde as well(it’s my go-to dish when judging a Mexican restaurant’s fare), and it was savory and delicious. On Sunday afternoon, we stopped in again to try the guacamole and margaritas, which owner Norma says are all made with 100% agave(no frat-party Cuervo Gold!). Of the bunch, the Gran Centenario was my favorite, made a bit stronger than the others. Incidentally, the Top Shelf is just like the house margarita, poured out of a pre-mixed jug, except with a splash of Grand Marnier for an extra kick. It’s a nice touch that the owners planted gardens around the patio and along the sidewalk. A large pistache tree provides plenty of shade for a hot summer afternoon. The planting areas are meticulously tended and raked — reminds me of Mexico! The roundup: Food: 3 — Good, solid Mexican food. Service: 3 — Sometimes it takes awhile to get seated. Setting: 4 — Nice interior and shaded patio. Value: 3 — It’s a fair deal for the price. Date worthy: 4 — Patio is where it’s at!
