Avocado scramble how do they do it? It doesn’t even need salt, it is just perfect! I love this place and dream about those eggs. Great people. Great food. Excellent restaurant

Nopalitos is a compact restaurant in a small shopping center. The small interior has a lot of hard surfaces so with the tables filled, conversation is difficult. Service is prompt and friendly. We ordered a chicken burrito, pork burrito and chicken tostada. They were all very good with a nice presentation for the tostada. Cactus salsa is nice and hot. Parking may be difficult and we were trapped in our spot by a large truck delivering bicycles to another store. It took over 10 minutes for the delivery to be completed. Very good food keeps this little place busy. Cash only.

After trying to figure out a time both my boyfriend and I could make it here for lunch around our work schedules, we finally got to go here yesterday. He’s been a few times but this was my first time. I ordered the Sonora salad with chile verde and holy cow it was so delicious! I had a salad at chipotle the night before and this Sonora salad made me never want to go to chipotle again. The chile verde was perfect and the dressing on the salad was incredible. I love the atmosphere here and especially the color scheme of the restaurant. I felt like I was in Arizona or New Mexico. I plan on coming back here every opportunity I can. The only downside of this place is the limited hours but once you get there, it is SOO worth it!!!

We read the reviews several weeks ago when Nopalitos was featured on the Mexican cuisines, and they were excellent, so 4 of us went for Breakfast this morning. The flavors were amazing. I had an omelet with cactus, pablano peppers, and cheese. OMW! And the potatoes, what flavor! I can’t wait to go back. Glad my husband had cash in his wallet as they do not use credit cards. AND, they are not open on weekends. Whatever it takes we’ll accommodate their way just to get that tasty food.

My first time here I may of just ordered the wrong item. There was no meat in my egg rancheros. I order this item because it normally comes with ham or some kind of meat over a few corn tortillas, I guess I should of read the menu. I asked the lady to suggest one of the popular items and she did. $ 14 for two eggs and some beans & a few potatoes. Must of just not been my day. I watched other plates come out for other folks and the were full. Maybe I shouldn’t do that. In the end the foods taste was good but so far from what I know as HUEVOSRANCHEROS. The service was pretty good could not front the coffee it tasted like the pipes need cleaning. I will return in a few weeks and read over the menu and see if there is anything else I’d eat. Maybe a breakfast burrito.

Came to this place unintentionally because the place I wanted to go was closed. Anyway, I absolutely love this little restaurant. It’s fast and friendly. Came here for breakfast, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted because I originally wanted American. However, my boyfriend and I ordered the huevos ranchero, and it was delicious! The flavors were so tasteful in every bite. The cashier was also a really sweet lady and so were the other workers. I would definitely come back again.

Nopalitos has been my go-to East Sac lunch stop for the last four years. And in those four years, I have only ordered the chile verde rice bowl with brown rice because it really is that good. What I like most about Nopalitos chile verde is that it is leaner than most but still packed with flavor. The portions are just enough to be satisfying so if you are looking for a huge meal for the money or taking leftovers home for dinner, this isn’t the place for you. However, if you are looking for fresh, bright flavor packing heat that is worth circling for parking and standing in line, you owe it to yourself to stop in here. Be sure to experience the salsa bar. My favorite in town! Things to know: finding a table can be difficult at times because it’s a small outlet, friendly service, cash only(but they have taken a check from me in the past) and they close at 2:30pm.

After dropping off the husband off at school this morning, baby and I stopped in to get some early lunch. You order at front before finding a table. Very clean inside and quaint. Baby and I ordered a chicken quesidilla and a carnitas burrito. The lady behind the counter was so sweet and patient. Food came out swiftly and yummy! Faye was flirting with one of the workers and he kindly said hi and asked how our meal was. Overall I was very happy here. I heard they get pretty busy in the mornings, I must of been there at a good time, around 11:30am. We will be back! **Just a heads up, carnitas burrito, chicken quesidilla and 1 ice tea cost $ 19.

My rating has to go down based on the fact that it is SO dissapointing how they cut off breakfast at 10:45. It’s become such a frustration that I am beginning to hold a grudge. They will literally hide from you in the kitchen around 10:40, and then come out after 10:45 to say«No, 10:45, always».

I ate here yesterday for lunch and was pretty impressed with the service. We didn’t know it was cash only and the cashier(and maybe the owner?) told us we could eat our food and then come back and pay her. Considering we had never met her before, it was surprising that she did that. I ordered a wet chile verde burrito with red sauce and thought the meat and overall burrito were delicious but there was so much tortilla that I have to give it four stars. I’ll definitely be coming back to try their breakfast menu! Sounds delicious. :)

A little hidden gem!!! Amazing chorizo omelette & scramble! It’s quaint and small bit worth the trip! And I used to work not far from here too!!! Order up at the counter & voila appears your breakfast in a matter of minutes. Separate men’s and women’s bathroom! Yay! Perfect day for eating out on the patio and breakfast is well priced. Parking is a challenge but we just parked down the street. I need my exercise anyhow! We will definitely be back. Thanks Leonard for the high recommendations:-)

When my wife told me that we were going to have breakfast at Nopalitos, I thought to myself«Just another Mexican Restaurant«Was I mistaken! Some of their breakfast menu items were true Southwestern delights. For starters(Nopales) Tender cactus mixed in scrambled eggs with a side of southwestern potatoes.(Nopalitos Omlette) tender cactus with poblano chiles and cheese. These are only a few examples of their wonderful Southwestern dishes. They also serve lunch but since we are havIng breakfast today, all my comments are for my experience during breakfast. Nopalitos Southwest Café is located at 5530 H Street in Sacramento, California. They are nestled in the corner of a small neighborhood shopping center. Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10:45 am. We barely made it for breakfast. We arrived close to 10:30 in the morning. This was our first time eating here so we didn’t know what to expect. Parking was very limited in the small shopping complex. We ended parking down the street of the restaurant. Outside seating is always a plus. They had 4 to 5 tables in front of the restaurant. When we walked up to the counter, the young lady told us this is where you order and pre-pay for your food! After that you have a seat and your food will be brought to you. There was a self serve water dispenser on the counter just to the right of the counter. Now let’s talk about the food! I usually order a burrito, but today I felt adventurist and ordered the Chorizo Omelette. Got to have a little«Spice» in your life, Right! Well that’s what my wife always tells me. The omelette looked and tasted amazing ! This came with a side of country red Southwestern potatoes, mixed with grilled peppers and onions. Plus 2 home made corn tortilla. My wife ordered the Chorizo Scramble. Which was almost exactly what I ordered except her eggs were scrambled with the chorizo while mine was in an omelette. She gave me a thumbs — up on her breakfast. The food brought back memories of our last trip to Albuquerque New Mexico. Fresh ingredients with bold flavors! Will we be back? Absolutely ! Service and food were on point! A winning combination!

This little tiny Mexican joint is just plain good. They can even send you out with large orders to go as our family has held large parties and they provided excellent TOGO service. I’m old fashioned when it comes to my Mexican food — so give it to me straight no chaser, and i’m all ab out it. They make one juicy, tender and succulent carnitas burrito — that’s my stand by.

Cash only! glad i always carry some cash with me and never know if i will need it for emergency. anyways i believe there was a sign by the cash register which was small and not noticeable. when i walked in i went straight to the cashier and had to look at the menu. the sign on the wall hanging was too little writing to read so i grabbed a togo menu and looked at that instead. i ended up ordering a cactus quesadilla. i wanted to try something different which wasn’t pork or chicken or beef. it ended up really good. the presentation came out quite good. it had a slabe of huac and sour cream on top. and a open salsa bar. i went crazy at the salsa bar and kept on refilling my salsa to dip my quesadilla in. it was cheesy where the cheese was melted. the cactus didn’t really have any flavor to it. it was sort of on the crisp side like a pea pod. also the dish did come with some fresh tortilla chips. the chips were warm and crisp. i was good and only had a few. the busier was very quick and nice. he cleared each table and wiped it down real quick. i was like wow he’s a hard worker. he made sure every table was all neat. there wasn’t really any service in here, since they just bring the food out to you only. the inside does have limited seating and not great for large groups. most tables were small. they do have a few seating on the outside. the inside décor is casual and more on the mexican style and colors. i do like this place and found it interesting and a little hole in the wall. will e back soon to try another dish. thanks for reading and add or follow me if you haven’t.

Nopalitos is such a unique and refreshing change of pace that it’s hard for me to be objectively critical of my experience there. There were a couple glaring problems that kept this much-anticipated meal from being the culinary trip to Mexico that I hoped it would be. Firstly, they are known for their deceptively simple and authentic cuisine, and I have no quibble with the consistent praise they get for these dishes as a result. During multiple visits I’ve enjoyed a tostada salad and a burrito filled with flavorful chunks of char-broiled chicken and just the right balance of ingredients. Every meal tastes fresh, is colorful, and gives you quite the bang for your buck. Speaking of bucks, I learned the hard way that that’s all they take here. I came in with a credit card during a busy lunch and was told the location of an ATM several blocks away and to return and pay after I ate. There is no visible sign on the door saying it is cash only, which would have at least kept me from entering without the proper payment in the first place. They have a rather dated counter system, with receipts hand-written, so I assume they just never hopped on the technological wagon that pulled the credit card into existence so many decades ago. Although my burrito was fantastic, the chips were suspiciously similar to those I find in the giant bags at Costco and really had no business on a plate at a place with such fresh dishes. The salsas were tasty, but the salsa bar is hidden from view around a corner behind the register. A few adjustments, mainly with their payment system, will make this customer a happy frequent luncher. Otherwise, I can see why they are so popular.

Normally only open for breakfast and dinner, I had the privilege of attending a private evening event at Nopalitos for the Food Literacy Center Big Day of Giving/Volunteer & Donor appreciation party/Cinco de Mayo 2015! My first time in and I was lucky to be able to try all the food for free! Thanks Amber S., Elaine L., and Melissa G. Located on the corner of H St. and 56th in East Sac, the parking lot shared with the bike shop tends to fill up quickly. Parking along the residential streets is good for 2 hours. What a spread of food! In no particular order, I got to try the Nopalitos Quesadillas(flour tortilla stuffed with cheese, roasted poblano chilies, and cactus), tamales(chile cheese), corn salsa/salad, soft tacos bar(chicken, cilantro, salsa, pinto beans, sour cream), ceviche, chips and guac. Also, a keg of beer available, free ticket for beer for donors. The nopal cactus is what really surprised me, good thing I didn’t confuse them for jalapenos! Everything was fresh and yummy, and even got to enjoy the meal while listening to the live band. I don’t find myself in East Sac too often, but I will remember Nopalitos as one of those really good authentic Mexican places. Maybe if I’m feeling brave I will attempt trying their breakfast offerings one of these days…

Cute little tables out front. This place is across the street from Starbucks, right around the corner from sac state. Very convenient for an early Mexican American breakfast. Something very different. This place is small, stool table by the window, seats about 6. About 8 tables that can fit 4 people at each table. Type of crowd: older . You order at the counter, they give you a number and someone brings your food out to you. This place opens from 6:30 am — 2:30 pm so breakfast/brunch only. They offer a menu of Mexican breakfast? Lol, it’s my first time having Mexican food for breakfast. The menu also offers pancakes and French toast. If you look up, they offer nachos, quesadilla, soup/salad and tacos. No credit cards! Cash only please! What we ordered: chorizo and eggs breakfast burrito, cactus egg plate, and short stack pancakes. What it tasted like: burrito was«good» said my friend. The egg plate was ok. The eggs had cactus in it? Or pickled jalapeño. Eh. It was ok. Flour tortilla and potatoes. Pancakes were good though, they’re always good. Would I come back? If I’m in the area? maybe, but I probably won’t go out of my way to eat here. I don’t always crave Mexican breakfast. On the plus side, the service was amazing, so nice. It’s a cute family owned business.

Three and a half stars, rounded it to 4, due to nice staff and yummy food. Such a popular lunch spot! The line had 4 – 5 people constantly the entire time we were there. I’ve passed by many times to go to Tupelo but never noticed Nopalitos before. It’s a small hole-in-the-wall with a big menu. Order up front, then they deliver the food to your table. I went for the tamale in a bowl. I’ve never had anything like it before… it was great! It comes with a ton of chips. There’s a self-serve salsa bar in the back of the place as well. They also have freshly baked goods on the front counter. Everything looked so tasty, but we already had dessert plans elsewhere. I would try the banana bread or giant chocolate chip cookie next time!

Nopalitos is still BYFAR one of my favorite places to go for breakfast and lunch in Sacramento. The food is amazing(I recommend the Little Cactus Special for breakfast and the Tamale Bowl with Chili Verde for lunch) and the chocolate chip cookies are to die for! I’m trying to convince the owner, Rose, to give me her cookie recipe. It hasn’t worked yet, but I’ll keep trying. She’s a very sweet lady, so she may eventually give in. The staff is very helpful and friendly and I go here every chance I get. As someone who does not like to dine in restaurants by myself, the Nopalitos window bar area is ideal and the only place I am comfortable having a meal out alone. The only sad part of it is that they’re only open Mon-Fri because I have Nopalitos cravings on the weekend. Remember: Cash or Check only.
